Assuming we aren't ill 😷 or dead 🧟‍♀️ , trying to think how to keep boredom at bay during the coming weeks. I think even ds(15) will get bored of his PS4!!! 🎮 I'll be working during the day from home so will be kept busy with that during the day, but will be stir crazy the rest of the time especially if I have ds and dh under my feet all day!

I've not got very far:

  • Board games, we have loads of them upstairs that haven't been played for a while. Including "Pandemic" - its a cooperative game, lets hope we all win! 🤦‍♀️
  • Box sets - will probably sign up for Netflix again - I haven't been on for a while, any recommendations? We only have one TV so needs to be something dh will enjoy too which will be challenging!🎬
  • Kindles will be a god send as I can get easy access to books from home 📖
  • Wonder if I can encourage dh to (quietly) get some long outstanding DIY done while I work 🤔🛠

Well I live alone so will probably go slowly nuts but apart from going nuts:
I always have several sewing projects ready for a rainy day
I'm building a dolls house and making the furniture
Got lots of paperwork to sort through and put away
Have some work projects to be getting on with
If I get desperate I can always make the curtains for my new home instead of buying them
It's about time I sorted all my shoes out
Everything in the loft needs sorting
There is enough there for the next year at least.

Any tips for a 15 month old? She can climb over stair gates, open doors by herself and only naps for half an hour per day. I’m a teacher and have been told that we will be expected to be working for our 6.5 hours of directed time a day at an absolute bare minimum in the event of school closures, plus usual evening work of planning, assessing etc. It’s going to be fun.

Bing does work for about 10 minutes at a time...

I'm wondering if the schools will send work home? DS is in Yr 11 so its very uncertain what will happen about GCSEs.

eldeeno · 14/03/2020 20:45

I'm a teacher, so I'll be home with the kids. However, we have been instructed to set up Google classrooms so I can upload work the students complete and then mark what they submit back in return. I'll probably run an online Q&A session every week with each exam class (most of my teaching!).

Other than that, I'm studying part time for a degree, so I'll do lots of studying.

Dd1 is doing her GCSEs, so she'll do lots of revising

DD2 will do lots of art work and practising of her gymnastics alongside her school work.

DH will work from home.

thunder I don't think that's reasonable for parents. I've a yr2 child and a toddler; the toddler can't be left alone at the moment and wants a lot of attention as he's at that doing stage. They both make a lot of mess indoors doing. And I can't imagine what it's like with 3. Im only part time but I'll still find it hard to fit in normal hours with those two and Dh has a big business to run.

My work situation is up in the air so I'll be doing the following:
Yoga
Baking cakes and bread (will take half the day)
Painting
Watching films
Games
Playing in the garden
Probably jogging up and down garden for sanity
Finally sowing our tomato seeds
Reading books
Decluttering
Tidying
Skyping family
Showing the kids old baby photos
Sorting out photos to print and creating photo albums
Posting on mumsnet regularly Smile

Wow, writing this list has made me feel much better.

I'll be the bored one. DH and DS will never get fed up with gaming. I intend to read a lot!

Seventyone72seventy3 · 14/03/2020 22:06

  • reading
  • card games and board games
  • dd is teaching herself to draw from youtube
  • ds is using Flowkey to learn the piano

I've discovered a new favourite thing, which is drawing on DH with gel pens while he watches his hillbilly gold mining programmes.

Aside from that DH will be working upstairs, DS will be lego-ing or on the xbox, DD will be chatting with her friends or kicking a ball around the garden. They'll also be doing plenty of school work, which I'll be supervising. DH has said more than once that he thinks I'm excited about the prospect of 'playing schools'. I can neither confirm nor deny this, but I have purchased new stationery and may have also printed a timetable and lunch menu.....
When not playing at teacher, I think I'll do some embroidery, watch a few Agatha Christie dramas, read a bit and probably bake. Which is how I fill my days anyway, off of being temporarily unemployed. It gets boring, but at least I'll have company now!

I'm panic buying paint and wallpaper and plan to decorate the whole house, it's needed doing for a while but I never seem to have time.

Dd's are 5 & 7 so during the day I'm going to keep their education going as best as I can, I'm going to stock up on writing books, pens, craft items tomorrow.

We've got our own caravan which is on the drive for winter so we've said we'll have film nights and sleepovers in there and pretend we're on a mini break.

autumnleaves15 · 14/03/2020 23:40
