During WW2, the King addressed the nation to reassure the people.

I have no idea what she would say - but is there a role for her, as Head of State, to say something?

A speech that says what? “ one must wash ones hands

Thanking the NHS workers
Talking about the precautions older people should take - (see the thread about stubborn older people elsewhere - maybe they will listen to her?)
Reassuring people that she is ok (that is important to some people)
Thanking people for the support they are doing in looking out for neighbours - especially older ones - at this time of crisis?

I think many people would listen.

As she is in her 90s it would be a better idea if she released a written statement. Is she on Instagram?

More people would listen to the Queen than Boris. She’s still having her audiences with the PM, poor woman.

Even with the best medical care, any of her age is high risk, the DofE is frail and even Charles and Camilla are over 70. I’ll grant you none of them have to go out to buy their own loo rolls, but I’m sure they are as worried about catching it as most people.

No. The Queen should be following the advice to all people of her age and being very cautious. It's quite patronising to the older generation to suggest that they might like to see the the Queen to "reassure" them - they've seen and lived through a hell of a lot more than the rest of us.
As my Nana (who was born in the same year as the Queen) would have said "Oh give over."

I'm not a republican or anything but I think I can live without hearing the Queen give out condolences and her best wishes and some PR piffle speech she didn't have any hand in writing.

Let her stay indoors away from the masses. She's 94 in a few weeks for goodness sake.
