They are young fit and best placed to fight the virus.
They can replace all the vulnerable groups that volunteer.
Sport tribal loyalty goes direct to local resources so we can have community/team support.

On full pay so the bills should be ok?

I will admit to being a bit unsettled at how much some earn, some silly numbers out there.

How is it critical?

Ahhhhhhh

You're pretending to Believe in the herd immunity tactic

It was a simple lampoon all along

TheQueef · 13/03/2020 20:27

Fuck knows about herd immunity but that is what the UK are doing so.

slightly O/T

Brighton, Aston Villa and Hull have all donated food they had for tomorrow's matches to local foodbanks and homeless charities

TheQueef · 13/03/2020 20:42

See that kind of thing is what will keep supporters interest more than thinking of them sat at home.

Knowing that they are helping because they can.

These are people who have maybe 4-5 years of being paid the top money you see in the papers. A minority of them will carry on a career in the sport for which they have trained for since they are small kids. For the rest of them missing the remaining part of the season means they will finish their career and potentially the careers of their team mates.

If I was in that position I would be self isolating and not jeopardising my long term future by spending a few hours in the food bank.

One of my co volunteers in our food bank works for a professional team and we have had to put really stringent bio hazard protocols in place so she can continue volunteering. It may be that she has to take a decision not to volunteer so she does not inadvertently infect the athletes.

Agreed, your average footballer is on the scrapheap by the time he's 32. I think a cash donation would be of more benefit to a foodbank than an extra pair of hands for two hours, most of which would be spent fending off questions from supporters. It would be far more sensible for Aguero etc. to help financially and I don't doubt that most sportspeople do.
