Its not the food that I'm thinking of but the prep, handling and delivery. Would you get one?

Biscusting · 13/03/2020 17:42

🤣

Xiaoxiong · 13/03/2020 17:42

Yes but ask them to leave it on the step and give you a ring to come down and get it.

Xiaoxiong · 13/03/2020 17:43

(You're more likely to get it from the delivery driver than from the food.)

neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:44

Does it not stay quite a long time on surfaces though?

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:44

That's exactly what I am thinking @Xiaoxiong :)
Not sure this is a sensible idea but I cba cooking!

Having had at least three takeaways since the UK started counting cases, I'm either (1) going to get it (2) incubating it or (3) immune.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:46

@EggysMom, me too but I was thinking it may be more widespread now. I am a bit worried for the kids.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:46

Its a treat for them but in the light of what's going on, I am really not sure.

Littleshortcake · 13/03/2020 17:47

Just went for a drive through McDonalds.. I think it's fine

walkingtheway · 13/03/2020 17:48

Yes. It's as safe as anything else you're likely to do

neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:48

That's reassuring @Littleshortcake.
You can tell i'm getting my priorities right ha ha ha....

Pandamoore · 13/03/2020 17:50

Yeah, justcwash your hands before handling the box, before tucking in. Some things I might give an extra five min in the oven before tucking in just incase too.

Pandamoore · 13/03/2020 17:51

*after handling the box

MoltonSilver · 13/03/2020 17:51

It's a valid question. If you're concerned about the packaging maybe place it in the oven until you're ready to eat (assuming it's foil trays, not plastic?

Snaga · 13/03/2020 17:52

We're having one tonight. It's no more risky than supermarket as we see it and went there today several versions of to find fucking soap and toilet roll so monthly takeaway treat night is happening.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/03/2020 17:57

Its foil containers. I think once we have put it out I will wash my hands. The food inside should be ok right?

OP posts:
Pandamoore · 13/03/2020 18:01

Sure. If in doubt, stick them in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Wildthyme · 13/03/2020 18:03

Spray it with Dettol or bleach just to be sure.

walkingtheway · 13/03/2020 18:14

@Wildthyme I think I love you Smile

UsernameUnknownn · 13/03/2020 18:15

I'd stick them in the oven for 5 minutes personally. Then go and wash my hands!

Lua · 13/03/2020 18:24

30 seconds in the microwave or 5 minutes in the oven is unlikely to kill any virus. To sterilize equipment you have to keep things at higher than 100 degrees for more than 10 minutes.... and still some microbes survive.
Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 13/03/2020 18:27

Ffs 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Youngatheart00 · 13/03/2020 18:29

Don’t put foil containers in the microwave 🙈😂

HairyFloppins · 13/03/2020 18:30

I just had a takeaway delivered, he was wearing surgical gloves.

Biscusting · 13/03/2020 18:35

Genuinely thought this was a joke thread. Maybe avoid licking the packaging and the driver and all will be well I’m sure. 🤷🏼‍♀️
