With all the talk and speculation on these boards and with thousands on here everyday, may I ask if anyone on her actually has the virus?

The Arsenal manager has been confirmed as having it - surely they’ve now got to call off the Premier League

Potkettlexx · 12/03/2020 22:38

@MsMeowington

Sorry but I find that hard to believe.... coughing up blood yet they won’t see him!

Potkettlexx · 12/03/2020 22:42

@Fishcakey

Fishcakey

I don't believe nobody will see someone who can't breathe and is coughing up blood. That's bollocks.

Totally agree!!! It’s Bollocks

Katexoxo · 12/03/2020 22:47

I was out with a friend last night and she called today to let me know someone she works closely with has tested positive, definitely feeling less calm now!

Letseatgrandma · 12/03/2020 22:52

If we are only testing people who are really ill, our country’s data is going to be meaningless in comparison to the rest of the world.

Why would we want this...?!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/03/2020 23:00

A friend today self isolated and called 111 as he is presenting with high temperature, cough, sore throat, generally achy and groggy. Asked to be tested. Refused a test and even better told due to the nature of his work (paedeatric consultant!) to go to work as it is probably a cold (you'll be pleased to hear he's refused). And they wonder how super spreaders come to pass
Exactly what a relation of mine who works for the NHS was told when they tried to self isolate and was told to get into work, they have refused. No wonder it's spreading 🙄

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 23:01

I am frustrated by not being tested, if I knew that what I had now was definitely corvid 19 it would mean that later in the year when others are sick I might be able to help them. As it is I don't know and will have to stay away.

Some of the data I've seen suggests we're actually testing more than some other western countries.

GrumpyHoonMain · 12/03/2020 23:15

I was coughing up blood a few days ago and have had all the other symptoms - I don’t qualify for testing unless it is enough of an emergency to call 999.

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 23:17

Hope you're feeling better soon GrumpyHoonMain.

TonOfLead · 12/03/2020 23:19

I've had the same last week ploppityplop

I had assumed it wasn't CV as I've not been abroad or (knowingly) come into contact with anyone infected. But who knows.

bashstreetkids · 12/03/2020 23:23

I have a fever and slight shortness of breath. I live in London. get the tube and work in a busy office. Many kids at my children’s school went to Northern Italy over half term and have been at school ever since.

I finally got through to 111 earlier tonight and was told that the algorithm suggested I don’t need to be tested and should go to work as normal. I was astounded! The guy told me that if I chose to self isolate, that’s entirely up to me, but I don’t need to.

It’s made me very concerned about the general approach to testing/ advice to isolate and worried about the vulnerable members of our society. People with 2/3 of the most common symptoms should surely stay at home at the very least.

Tiredofwinter · 12/03/2020 23:29

I had the symptoms last week. I work in an organisation that has people from all over the world in and out. I really have no way of knowing now as the testing isn't freely available but I would love to know if I truely did or not. It do find it a coincidence that I had a fever, cough, headache etc etc

24hoursfromtulsa · 12/03/2020 23:30

Bash street kids the advice has now changed now so many people have it. If you have the symptoms you should assume you have it and should stay home for 7 days.

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 23:31

Are 111 giving out the correct advice? Didn't book say if you become poorly to self isolate for 7 days. That sounds more sensible.

Me and my family have had dealing with 111 over the past couple of days and found their advice poor. We went with GPs advice instead.

SelfIsolating · 12/03/2020 23:32

BoJo not book!

Kwkwjwkek · 12/03/2020 23:34

@bashstreetkids

I work for 111 and half way through my shift they changed the guidelines. Basically now they are saying if you have a new continuous cough, or a fever you must self isolate for 7 days. If you’re unable to manage your symptoms at home and require and assessment with a clinician then you’ll be put through to them.

There is info on the nhs website on how to self isolate.

And there is no Coronavirus testing anymore

Kwkwjwkek · 12/03/2020 23:36

111 has to go by the advice set by public health England. It is an evolving situation and guidelines keep changing all the time! They just suddenly change the rules and it can be quite confusing at times

Froq · 12/03/2020 23:38

For most people, it will just be like a bothersome cold.

For a minority, it will progress into severe symptoms that will need medical attention.

Panicking, emptying shelves and depriving those who are vulnerable from essentials will be far more damaging than the virus in the long run.

Designerenvy · 12/03/2020 23:41

In ireland we have only been testing symptomatic people with a history of travel or a known contact with a positive test.

We are now moving into the delay phase and from tomorrow, anyone who presents with symptoms will be tested .

This is good news cos I know a gp who said she has seen patients with , what is most likely covid-19, but wasnt able to test them because of the strict criteria.
Now, the threshold for testing has been lowered, I'm sure we will see a huge increase in cases .

Best of luck everyone. It's tough times ahead . All schools and colleges are closed here from today . Hoping it'll make a difference.

OnceUponACat · 12/03/2020 23:44

According to my italian friend if you have been in contact with somebody who tested positive you MUST stay home for 14 days and the NHS equivalent will call you twice a day to know your temperature. She told me because dh with COPD has been in contact with someone who tested positive and ... nothing. She could not believe it. Of course it is anecdotal but she is my childhood friend. Not sure why she’d make it up.
Despite me knowing full well the shortcoming of the italian system in many ways this time I start to think that possibly they have been very clear and rigorous in their testing hence the numbers. Of course I may be wrong but the stories of people calling 111 are start to add up. I re read BJ “expect relatives to die” and honestly I felt like leaving the country for the first time in 24 years. The flippancy And callousness of it/him makes me shudder. Disgraceful.

Bunnyjo · 12/03/2020 23:45

My DD's football teammate was confirmed positive for Covid-19 last night.

I don't wish to say too much on this, because it has become quite big news locally and I feel so sorry for the poor girl involved.

What I will say is my DD has asthma, so I am a little worried. However, NHS111 advice was that DD didn't need to self-isolate unless she became symptomatic.

bashstreetkids · 12/03/2020 23:46

Thanks for your perspective but the information was very slow to get through to 111 call handlers . I was telling guy that my understanding (having heard Boris’ speech earlier) was that I needed to self isolate for seven days. I was categorically told I was misinformed. This was at about 7pm this evening.

user127819 · 12/03/2020 23:47

@Froq For most people, it will just be like a bothersome cold.

Do you have a source for that statement?
