Is it going to be drastic changes? Or just 'work at home if you can'?

Who needs epidemiologists when you've got Borne's gran?

Bloody experts, foisting their opinions on everyone.

Sixp · 12/03/2020 14:10

Scotland has 60 cases now.

alloutoffucks · 12/03/2020 14:11

My workplace have went from just wash your hands, to saying they are going to close in a week and everyone can work from home.

MarshaBradyo · 12/03/2020 14:12

That’s good All!
I hope more follow quickly

MetalDog · 12/03/2020 14:12

Here’s another expert I agree with regarding the UK response:

Purplewhitelie · 12/03/2020 14:13

I feel like I’m about to be had twice by a bldy coronavirus pneumonia hopefully I will have some immunity but I doubt it as it’s new one!

Hoggleludo · 12/03/2020 14:14

@Helpwithaversion amen!!!

My mother still says the same to me now!

Life is precious. No amount if worrying will change anything. So I don't worry. Life will carry on (hopefully).

whirlwinds · 12/03/2020 14:14

@BorneFeet My OHs grandmother died in the Hong Kong Flu Pandemic which killed a million people, she was in her 40s with 5 children left behind and a husband who couldn't cope. Glad your gran survived that one as not everyone did. The media has been here and there, it is the professionals one needs to listen too and they are banging the bells that this needs to be taken seriously.

SaskiaRembrandt · 12/03/2020 14:15

The people dismissing the threat to vulnerable groups seem to assume it just be elderly people who die, and ignoring the fact that the extra deaths won't just be amongst those with the virus. The pressure on beds will mean deaths will also occur amongst cancer patients, road accident victims, people who've had strokes and heart attacks, etc. If your child gets run over, or your sister has a complicated labour they could well find themselves losing the lottery to see who gets a bed (and a chance of survival) and who doesn't.

Medics make these horrible decisions based on potential outcomes, you may find that it is you or yours who are deemed less worthy.

Savemefromthis4 · 12/03/2020 14:15

I bet he chooses to keep schools open. It's about time they at least have parents a choice. We will see. I've seen a couple of reporters have quoted they have been advised shutting schools won't help. So I think Boris will be advised to carry on. Probably just wash our hands and stay home with cold symptoms

Bigoldwimp · 12/03/2020 14:16

Honest questions: Are we certain children are super spreaders of this virus?
What’s the plan for nhs workers if schools shut?

In Italy before the mass quarantine all the children were still in parks and out in the community.

I think we have to go all or nothing. Everyone to distance themselves for two weeks or just keep up with good hygiene and trying our best to contain it within communities .

Schuyler · 12/03/2020 14:17

I don’t want to get banned but I will say that only a disgraceful odious little excuse for a human would seriously suggest; ”it is a toss up between A levels for a whole generation or a few vulnerable people dying then I am afraid A levels should win out.”
I’d suggest that a person who says this is a cunt but they’d lack the warmth and depth. However, I’m certain no person would actually say something like that and mean it. I’m going to assume it was a joke in very poor taste.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/03/2020 14:17

In Scotland it has been reported that schools should remain open. Oh dear.

Savemefromthis4 · 12/03/2020 14:18

Health needs to come first and education can be delayed. Just my view. People's lives won't fail if they can't go to school for 2 weeks

neveradullmoment99 · 12/03/2020 14:18

I think the Scottish government are going to be under increased pressure. I cannot believe this is a good idea!

undead · 12/03/2020 14:18

I still think we should let it run its course. Situation would be over faster. If I get it then I will but we need to get over this ASAP.

MovinOnUp · 12/03/2020 14:19

Couldn't agree more @Schuyler !

sunshinesupermum · 12/03/2020 14:19

90 year old gran will be the first to be dismissed as not worthy of saving should she get coronavirus.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/03/2020 14:19

Health needs to come first and education can be delayed. Just my view. People's lives won't fail if they can't go to school for 2 week.

Exactly. What the fuck are they thinking.

sunshinesupermum · 12/03/2020 14:21

only a disgraceful odious little excuse for a human would seriously suggest; ”it is a toss up between A levels for a whole generation or a few vulnerable people dying then I am afraid A levels should win out.”

Well said Schuyler

Savemefromthis4 · 12/03/2020 14:22

The news readers are being very IF and WHEN about schools. Another Chap is on sky news now saying he personally doesn't think we will go as extreme as Ireland. She asked him why other eu countries are acting strongly and doing alot more. He said Boris is being advised by different people.

feelingverylazytoday · 12/03/2020 14:23

It's not who is 'worthy of saving', it's who has the best chance of survival. Medics already have to make these judgements, albeit on a smaller scale.

Pogmella · 12/03/2020 14:23

If nationally A level grades were depressed then universities would amend their offer making strategies. Schools would also seek mitigation. No need to cull the weakest....

Helpwithaversion · 12/03/2020 14:24

If they won’t close schools they need to make it optional for parents to choose to keep dc off with no threats of fines

sunshinesupermum · 12/03/2020 14:25

feelingverylazytoday 'Worthy of saving' is not the case in Italy where apparently elderly folk are just being left to die because the health service has been overwhelmed.
