Ordinary family, no underlying health conditions. Booked ages ago, kids v excited. Father determined to go, mother wobbling a bit.

That is a joke isn't it! I give up with any rational suggestions. Is the resort is underwater then!!

blue25 · 11/03/2020 13:26

No, CP is a hotbed of germs.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/03/2020 13:35

I agree with MintyMabel
This is a crisis on a par with war. We can’t all just continue as normal.

RachelEllenRE · 11/03/2020 14:43

I would be ok if we didn't go if we could get our money back but that isn't what the current advice is so we wouldn't be able to rebook/claim on insurance - so we will be going.

Inkpaperstars · 11/03/2020 15:13

I trust public health England to take the right steps

Will this be a popular epitaph?

Bearing in mind they haven't even taken the steps they themselves said were important.

RogueV · 11/03/2020 15:15

Yes I would go 100%

MirandaWest · 11/03/2020 15:21

I’m not sure what I’d do. I don’t trust the measures being put in place at the moment so maybe that answers it for me. Poland is shutting all schools for two weeks with fewer cases- why aren’t we?

DD and I are due to go to London for the day next Saturday to go to the theatre. Both of us aren’t quite sure about it.

Orchidflower1 · 11/03/2020 15:26

@maryberryslayers

What’s the point of cleaning if you’re going to let the kids go swimming?

Swimming is the last place I’d go.

goodadvice123 · 11/03/2020 16:15

wow....money more important than health - frightening...I think you'll find that if CP is closed you'll get your ££ back. But, come on, if losing a few ££ means you protect people's health, lives then surely that's a priority...surely!!

YoursTunbridgeWells · 11/03/2020 16:27

I wouldn't go to CP.

However, I am due to spent my entire weekend at a swimming meet. Genuinely not sure what the hell to do. The clubs have been advised by the governing body to go ahead and keep on competing....

Vintage2020 · 11/03/2020 17:09

Go and enjoy your holiday.

usuredo · 11/03/2020 17:17

I’d avoid the warm germ soup kids pool bits..

Vintage2020 · 11/03/2020 17:27

Why avoid swimming? It’s no different from any other activity, just wash your hands as u usually would

zonkin · 11/03/2020 17:28

I'd go. I'm on a packed overheated tube at rush hour in London anyway and then working in a crowded office. I can't see that CP is any more risky.

Vintage2020 · 11/03/2020 17:31

If people stop doing stuff “just in case” they may as well stop driving “just in case there is an accident” stop walking “just in case there is a fall”. Until the WHO say otherwise - as u were folks. (Those who are immune suppressed continue as before to limit exposure to viruses, avoidable illnesses)

Vintage2020 · 11/03/2020 17:40

Ps that’s if those immune suppressed/ or vulnerable wish to!!

theflushedzebra · 11/03/2020 17:43

No.

Ironically in terms of this thread, we are considering booking CP to replace our Easter holiday in Italy which we have just cancelled! If you are still going to work, going to the shops, using public transport, sending your children to school, then I see no reason to go to CP.

Regarding the safety of swimming pools, the advice seems to be that the chlorine can kill viruses, and the risk appears to be the same as any public space: being coughed on, and lots of people touching surfaces:

Wigeon · 11/03/2020 18:28

Sorry, I mean “I see NO reason not to go to CP”!!

maryberryslayers · 11/03/2020 20:16

@Orchidflower1 because chlorine kills coronavirus so the swimming pool it's self will be fine, but it can last for days on surfaces particularly metal (hand rails etc).
I'd really rather not swim but my little DS loves it so I'm just doing my best to minimise our risk whilst still making it a lovely holiday for him.
We could obviously catch it via an airborne source but that's the same anywhere else.
I think soft play would be the worst so we'll avoid that.

millie101 · 11/03/2020 20:37

If you’re fit and healthy you are the PERFECT carrier for this virus. Go. Don’t give a backwards glance. To hell with anyone you or your family come into contact with in the coming weeks. Why would you care if you don’t get symptoms? Honestly, the selfishness and stupidity when the world is now in Pandemic mode, is breathtaking. Please reconsider- don’t inadvertently make this worse for people whose immune system is to buggered to fight pneumonia. Look at the photos of critically ill young men in Italy in ICU wards, many of whom experts have said have NO underlying health issues, and then ask yourself if it’s worth it.

NotJustAnyFucker · 11/03/2020 21:06

High fives Millie 🙌🏽

Thistlepicker · 11/03/2020 22:12

Millie are you advocating full lockdown/isolation for everyone now? If we weren’t at CP we would be at the school disco, swimming lessons and church.

Agree millie101
Unbelievable how cavalier people are being, when they feel it won’t affect them.
