Ordinary family, no underlying health conditions. Booked ages ago, kids v excited. Father determined to go, mother wobbling a bit.

Not a chance. And I'm not usually bothered by fears like this, but right now - it's a warm soupy germ pool that I would avoid like the plague (no pun intended).

Londongirl03 · 10/03/2020 08:08

Yes, I’m at Center parcs now. It’s very busy!

Toria70 · 10/03/2020 08:15

We've been twice.

Both times, our kids were really poorly when we got home - chickenpox the 1st time, and norovirus the 2nd.

We never risked a 3rd time.

People pay a lot of money to go there, and are merciless about their kids being unwell. It's a heated dome full of viruses, so you're taking your chances anyway. Though you're far more likely to get the norovirus than corona.

TenerifeGrief · 10/03/2020 08:18

I’d still go!

MinnieMountain · 10/03/2020 08:19

Yes. Next week DS and I are going for the weekend. DH is going skiing in France. We're sticking with our plans unless the government advice says otherwise.

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/03/2020 08:37

I'd go but we'd be cleaning all the surfaces and taking hand gel.

BertiesLanding · 10/03/2020 08:38

Not on your nelly.

NoProblem123 · 10/03/2020 08:41

Yes.

Might dig a bit deeper with the pick n mix tho.

TheCatInAHat · 10/03/2020 08:46

Yes, I’d still go. And I’m usually a bit germphobic.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 10/03/2020 08:47

Good question

ScribblyGum · 10/03/2020 08:48

Absolutely not.

Tootletum · 10/03/2020 08:49

I would definitely go. Milton do a surface spray that is also virucidal, no idea if against coronavirus but it's reassuring. Just take some of that, wash your hands after pool, do lots of outdoor activities.

youareatwatadmitit · 10/03/2020 08:52

Would you still book centre parks www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3842515-would-you-still-book-centre-parks

If you can get your money back then no.
Otherwise I might go. Do you have elderly or I'll relatives that you'll be seeing after? Because that's the problem here isn't it. The risk isn't really to the middle aged or kids, underlying health issues aside.

donkey86 · 10/03/2020 08:55

We’re booked to go in April. We’ll still be going unless it shuts or the govt bans internal travel or something. I think we’ll stay away from grandparents for a couple of weeks after we get back though, just in case.

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2020 08:59

I would go (uneasily) at this stage but not if/when it gets much worse.

Funnily enough there was an ad on TV about an hour ago for Haven holidays and I was thinking I probably wouldn't book this Summer, as I'd wonder how well the accommodation was cleaned, after the last family.

bluehairandheartbroken · 10/03/2020 09:01

Yes I'd go. Advice is to carry on with life as usual, just take care with handwashing etc (which is what people should be doing anyway!). We had a weekend planned in London this weekend, my husband was wondering if we should cancel but I thought he was being daft. We still went.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 10/03/2020 09:04

Yes, I’d go but probably avoid the swimming pool.

GloriaMumsnet · 10/03/2020 09:11

Hi OP, we've moved this over to Coronavirus

Poetryinaction · 10/03/2020 09:11

Yes of course

Doyoumind · 10/03/2020 09:15

Yes, I would. If you are concerned, spray your accommodation with Dettol spray, wash your hands frequently, eat in your lodge and spend time outside rather than in close contact with people but there is no need to cancel unless someone has other health issues.

goodadvice123 · 10/03/2020 09:18

We were there in February....it is absolutely not somewhere I'd recommend going in the current climate, at least don't book if you haven't. The pool area is simply not / can't be remotely hygienic and that's all that's there this time of year! All other areas are busy too, it is what it is!! loads of wooden huts with a swimming pool and a few restaurants crammed into a tiny wood and visited by people from wide and far....its heaven for bugs!

Take note of the sensible advice - not tabloid sensationalism - and that is to step away from crowded places where you may be vulnerable to a virus and then pass it on to others. And always be aware that anyone of any age can have underlying issues that viruses like this can effect, don't just assume its old people who are critically affected. When did you last have a medical!!

Come on all, common sense needs to prevail...if people act sensibly now the spread of this unfortunate bug may be killed off within weeks. If not, it could become a major issue throughout the summer and beyond.. This is simply not the time to be flippant. Take stock and think rationally.

Maybe get some driven feedback from the company about refunding, cancelling or delaying your visit. Any understanding business is playing the gentle card with this issue.

Hoolahoophop · 10/03/2020 09:25

Risk Assess. I wouldn't, but have a DC waiting heart surgery and a dgm who recently had heart surgery. Just feels like the pool area would be a breeding ground if anyone had it. That said we are still going to school, work, nursery, shops. Life dosent stop.

maryberryslayers · 10/03/2020 10:17

Yes. We are going in 2 weeks. I am a complete germaphobe but the holiday is for DS not me so I'll get over myself.
My plan is to take all my antibacterial products and wipe everything down with a detol wipe before use, and I mean everything. I'll blitz the lodge as soon as we arrive. We will be going swimming but not touching handrails etc and plenty of hand washing and not touching faces. DS won't be using the soft play and we'll focus more on the outdoors and booked activities, although we'll sit/stand away from other as much as possible. I'll also not be visiting my elderly grandmother for at least 2 weeks upon our return.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 10/03/2020 10:20

I’d go. We are not on lockdown. I wouldn’t if we are. I trust public health England to take the right steps and they can trust me to wash my hands. Have a good time!
