Would you still book centre parks

We usually have a yearly trip to centre parcs in July - I'm wondering wether it would be a stupid idea to book this?

Not a chance but I wouldn't anyway. One big germ-fest like cruise ships!

DH said the worst cold he ever had was caught at Centerparcs.

youareatwatadmitit · 08/03/2020 13:06

Yeah, that pool and changing rooms 🤢 hot, humid - germ heaven! 🦠

moobar · 08/03/2020 13:11

Meant to be taking Dd with my side of family in two weeks. Dh lambing. I was there with him in January and spent week shut in with norovirus, I'm scared!! Blushbut will still be going, maybe get shut in there....

Merinocool · 08/03/2020 13:20

We are going in April 🙈 think we are going ahead but I am a little nervous.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/03/2020 13:24

We are due to go to Butlins next month. Will see what pans out.

alittleprivacy · 08/03/2020 13:37

I wouldn't book a thing right now unless you can happily afford to lose whatever money you spend. There are just too many unknowns at the moment to risk it otherwise. At a bare minimum if your child's school has to close or you have older family members no longer able to do childcare they normally do, you could use up all your holiday time.

ritzbiscuits · 08/03/2020 13:54

Why would you? Bookings must be down so I'd wait and book last minute if the situation has improved.

GameSetMatch · 08/03/2020 15:03

Well I have two centre Parcs trips already booked, I’m just going to play it by ear, you can’t put your life on hold every time something happens .

Bottleofcorona · 08/03/2020 15:05

I would avoid anywhere built up for now like that place. The swimming changing rooms do not appeal.

I’m looking at Cottages with lots of walking opportunities etc

caffeinebuzz · 08/03/2020 15:10

I would wait until closer to the time. Who knows what the situation will be by July, but something tells me availability won't be an issue this year.

MrsMeg1 · 08/03/2020 15:27

I wouldn’t book it, I’d book a cottage/lodge somewhere quieter!

NcFortuna · 08/03/2020 15:33

It’s now or never for trying up the bum while you still can.

crustycrab · 08/03/2020 15:58

Eh NC Hmm

"DH said the worst cold he ever had was caught at Centerparcs" seriously? 😂😂😂😂

Luunaa · 08/03/2020 16:26

I'd still go. Same likelihood of catching it there as catching it at your local Asda!

donquixotedelamancha · 08/03/2020 16:37

I'm wondering wether it would be a stupid idea to book this?

Yes, but that has nothing to do with coronavirus.

Floralnomad · 08/03/2020 16:42

I wouldn’t book anything at the moment , I’ve got lots of short breaks pencilled in but I’m not booking any hotels until I see how things pan out .

EmotionalEllie · 08/03/2020 16:46

We are booked to go in June, wouldn't cross my mind not to go unless government advice changes.

Surely you could stay home and catch it anyway in your local supermarket or on the bus or something? Or are people literally planning to never go out?

BackInTime · 08/03/2020 16:53

I think the issue is spending a prolonged period in where there is close contact with others as shown on cruise ships and holiday resorts like Tenerife. Yes you could catch it in Asda but it's unlikely you could end up spending an enforced quarantine in the fruit and veg aisle if you did.

shinynewapple2020 · 08/03/2020 16:54

If I hadn't already booked it then, no, I wouldn't be booking it at this particular time. I would wait to see what the coming weeks/ months bring and possible book a slightly different holiday nearer to the time.

I am in a similar position with a holiday I'd planned with my friend. We are waiting to see what happens, have booked our time off work and may stick with our original plans, may do something different.

DH and I have planned breaks to self catering cottages which we certainly plan to go on (all being well).

PatchworkElmer · 08/03/2020 16:55

We’re going to Butlins next week. I don’t want to go!!

MummaGiles · 08/03/2020 16:58

We are booked to go in about 6 weeks. At the moment I am not contemplating bailing on it. Things may change.

tinytemper66 · 08/03/2020 17:24

I have booked for the first weekend in May. Unless advised not to go by government or CP themselves we will be going. We never use the pool as my husband hates chlorine.

rosieposies · 08/03/2020 18:22

@donquixotedelamancha 😂

I guess I'm just thinking loads of families coming from loads of different areas of the country all coming together in one place... seems a bit of a recipe for the spread of corona. But I suppose it's no different to them all going back to school.

Waiting makes the most sense. Just concerned about the price going up as it's bloody expensive as it is.

What's everyone else doing for holidays this year or are most people waiting to see what happens? I've got family going skiing in France in 3 weeks and whilst I'm not one of the panickers I still think they're mad.

We are waiting to book ... probably till end of March - reckon we’ll have a good idea where this is going by then

GaaaaarlicBread · 08/03/2020 18:31

We are due to go in December when our baby will be 16 weeks and I’m hoping everything would’ve passed by then, maybe I’m being a bit optimistic 😂😂
