We're all doomed!

Seriously, not happy about this and preparing to catch it now. Think I'll stock up on paracetamol.

OP posts:
wallflowersunited · 03/03/2020 20:11

Paracetomol isn't going to help you.

Isadora2007 · 03/03/2020 20:13

They’re being admitted to hospital to avoid spreading to others- not due to the severity of the disease. This is the slowing down the transmission stage. Once a few more people get it we will be advised to stay at home with it more than likely. Paracetamol can help- make a fever more comfortable etc.

MamaFlintstone · 03/03/2020 20:14

The first cases in the UK were admitted to my local hospital. It’s made absolutely zero difference to anyone in the city. I do have a bit of extra food and medicine stashed but that’s not because of them being there.

ifonly4 · 03/03/2020 20:17

It doesn't mean we're all doomed, just that you're aware and things like handwashing, using hand gel will be at the forefront of your mind. If you've prepped, then you'll have any supportive medication or food supplies in, if not you've got time to get in whatever you think you'll need.

EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:18

how do you know op?

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 03/03/2020 20:21

There’s a case in my town now, in an office where a colleagues husband works. Our kids are at the same school. She’s a nurse.

friendineed · 03/03/2020 20:22

@EnidBlyton I work in said hospital. Just finished a shift, have a disabled DS and asthmatic DD and an elderly mum. I've not had a cold since last winter so I think this is coming my way.

Person came via A&E so maybe sat around infecting dozens of people?

OP posts:
EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:25

no need to be overly worried op

EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:26

and you thought you would share all this confidential information?

ifonly4 · 03/03/2020 20:26

If you're feeling more than just a bit anxious, a large organization will have staff in welfare/counselling you can talk to.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 03/03/2020 20:26

Person came via A&E so maybe sat around infecting dozens of people

Oh ffs! If that’s the case, they’re bloody selfish or incredibly stupid.

EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:27

oh this is bolloux

blablablablablablabla · 03/03/2020 20:27

If you know through your job in the NHS you shouldn't be talking about it.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 03/03/2020 20:29

and you thought you would share all this confidential information?

Oh! The penny hadn’t even dropped with me. Plus, if another mumsnetter works in the same place, they’ll know who you are, from your children’s details. I think you’d better get this deleted quick sharp, OP.

WhenYouveAFirstInEnglish · 03/03/2020 20:29

Are her swab results back already then?

macaroniandpizza · 03/03/2020 20:35

Id ask to get this taken down for confidentiality reasons

ConfusedDotty · 03/03/2020 20:39

Very reassuring to hear a NHS worker saying 'We are all doomed ' Thanks OP.

ceilihouse · 03/03/2020 20:42

It's now here on the Wirral, school closed as a precaution,

EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:43

Well, this is generally what happens, you get admitted to hospital,
were you not aware of the possibility op?

Scapegoatforlife · 03/03/2020 20:43

Bet daily mail will lift this and make a headline "NHS says were all doomed"

picklemewalnuts · 03/03/2020 20:49

So, are they admitting everyone testing positive then, regardless of how ill they are?

BogOffJanuary · 03/03/2020 20:55

Wow, how would an NHS worker not realise saying “we’re doomed” might cause panic??

Gwenhwyfar · 03/03/2020 20:56

"and you thought you would share all this confidential information?"

Is it confidential. The fact that there is a case in a certain hospital. No names have been given. The person went to A&E so probably told reception what they suspected they had so everyone there would know.

EnidBlyton · 03/03/2020 20:57

calm down op
