Israel approves Trump’s plan for ceasefire and hostage release

Israel's government has approved a ceasefire and hostage release agreement following a cabinet vote in the early morning hours of Friday local time.

The agreement is just the first phase of US President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan, and there's still a number of sticking points to work out.

Here's what's expected to happen in this first phase:

1. A ceasefire in Gaza is expected to take effect early on Saturday, 24 hours after the deal was approved by the Israeli government.
2. Israeli troops will withdraw to a line giving it control of 53% of the Gaza Strip, a spokesperson for the Israeli prime minister's office said. This is the first of three withdrawal stages in Trump's plan.
3. The release of Israeli hostages - alive and dead - being held by Hamas will begin, followed by Israel's release of Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli jails as well as detainees from Gaza.

  1. The US is moving up to 200 troops already based in the Middle East to Israel to co-ordinate a multinational force which will monitor the ceasefire, according to US officials.

The Israeli Ministry of Justice has released the names of the 250 Palestinians serving sentences for murder whom they are releasing from prison tomorrow.

And no, the names Marwan Barghouti or Ahmad Sadatt are not on the list.

Edited

Any mention of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya @Twiglets1

It's disgusting isn't it, oh but they are detained illegally some other posters have wailed on here for months. Murderers and terrorists to be released in exchange for innocent hostages.

Gazan 'civilians' posting pics on X saying they are holocaust survivors whilst looking well fed and healthy. It's all just so utterly sickening.

Maybe they're hanging on to some 'senior' terrorists? Not saying he is one but we know they have dual rules as docs and 'journalists' so perhaps Israel intelligence know more than we do regarding his role in hamas.

Everexpanding · 12/10/2025 17:27

Yes people being detained without trial is appalling for example

3,629 Palestinians
A total of 3,629 Palestinians are currently detained under administrative detention, a practice that allows Israeli authorities to hold individuals in prison without trial for six months, which is subject to indefinite renewals.

So many are murderers and terrorists or caught running about with weapons.
Have you seen all the pics of healthy chubby gazans holding little placards sayiny 'I survived a holocaust'? Do you think they are brave and genuine?

I can't believe anyone is taken in by any of this crap.

It's a affront to justice and humanity that even one terrorist with blood on their hands is released.

You’re not wrong but Israel desperately wants their hostages back.

I don't think Israel care much for humanity and justice.
Letting murderous terrorists run free is just par for the course, they've long had a policy of supporting terrorism.

Of course they care for humanity. They want their hostages back so very sadly they will have to release actual murderers. I would bet those terrorists released will be monitored very closely though.

It's very selective 'humanity' then when they release an actual murderer who was caught on video actually murdering before they release the body of the actual victim.

It is sickening, and these scum will be given a heroes welcome for raping and murdering Jews.
There is no justice for their victims.

Do you think they will get a slot on channel 14 with multiple standing ovations or is it just Israeli rapists who get applauded in Israel?
