Al Aqsa mosque

Probably one of the most famous and well known mosques in the world. Israeli settlers, led by Itmar Ben Gvir an Israeli minister for national security led prayers inside the courtyard. Supported by Israeli forces.

My heart aches. Imagine for one moment Muslims did that to a synagogue. There would be outrage.

It was never about the hostages. It was always about grabbing as much Palestinian land as possible.

You mean al aqsa mosque built literally on top of the Jewish holiest site in the world, the Temple? Today is the 9th av, the day the temple was destroyed.

I doubt it

I dont know the incident you are talking about, but muslims and jews sharing prayer spaces is fairly common, Im in London and know of several places that change from muslim to jewish and back again, with each extending welcome and respect for the other

That is the norm, worldwide, although some people want to focus on the exceptions

Interested to know where in London that happens? I’ve heard of a place being used by both a church and synagogue but never a mosque. Would be interesting to learn more.

The London ones come about when a community leave the area and new one moves in and they need a different religious space. Theres a “space” in Brick lane that was once used by the Huguenots, then as a Synagogue and now a Mosque.

The issue for Al Aqsa is that it clearly has a population that would travel across Palestine to go to Juma (Friday prayers) or even Taraweeh (Ramadan night prayers) not to mention the rest of the prayers. That doesn’t even include the global muslims who go to visit.

The Roman’s according to wiki destroyed the

Jewish Temple so I’m not really sure where why they aren’t claiming back the Vatican or Italy.

Your heart aches because some Jewish people just... prayed there?

There’s a reason it’s not known as the ‘religion of tolerance’.

HermioneWeasley · 12/08/2025 16:31

The mosque was literally built on top of the holiest site in Judaism so my sympathy for the horror of people praying in it is limited.

…and its a functioning mosque. The IDF marching in repeatedly with shoes on, shooting people during prayers, singing loudly during prayers, dancing during prayer these are hardly non hostile actions.

Did you actually know that it was built on top of the Jewish temple by a Jewish king hundreds of years before Mohammed was even born? Honestly?

And that justifies preventing worshipers entering? Settlers going in dancing ruining prayers? Or idf deciding who goes in and out?

ImACerealNameChanger · 12/08/2025 17:53

What worshippers were shot on 3rd August? What do you mean the IDF marching in repeatedly? everyone was outside, and it was police officers with Ben Gvir, not the army.

why are Jews banned from praying at their holiest site? Hardly non hostile to ban the indigenous people from praying at their holiest site that you’ve built on top of

It would be hard for me to convey here how little I care about where religious nutjobs chose to pray. Yes I'm referring to religious nutjobs on both sides.
But was wondering if the OP was aware of the huge significance of the site ( and indeed the age of it ) to religious Jews?

I agree. I personally find it very hard for my heart to bleed about religion - probably the most dividing factor in the world, apart from money.

Shooting people during prayers? Hang on i missed that, I thought they just walked around the compound singing and dancing and praying. Not my thing but can't get worked up tbh. But shooting? Is that true?

@TakeMe2Insanity

What you posted is a lie. The IDF did not enter the mosque and starting shooting during prayers. It would have been headline news.

Have your lie deleted please. You've posted the lie to stir up hatred.

Well amnesty agrees:

or is that a lie?

Israeli forces unleash a second night of horror at al-Aqsa mosque

These attacks against Palestinian worshippers illustrate the sheer brutality of Israel's apartheid

The idf have repeatedly stormed al aqsa, beaten people during prayers etc and this has been continuous since the creation of the Israeli state.
