Reading about this today. I wanted to highlight it to show how some people are emboldened to spew hate so openly. These two nurses - in uniform and open about what they do - seem gleeful in how they discuss wanting to kill Israelis. The male says he already has. The one positive - Auz authorities have dealt with this so well. We must stamp out hate when we see it.

I hope if anything like this came to light in the UK the NHS would also take swift action.

2 Australian nurses under investigation as influencer's video appears to show them say they'd kill Israelis

Australian authorities say they're investigating two nurses who appear to tell an Israeli influencer in a video posted online that they would kill Israeli patients.

Well, that's just awful.

HiyaLuv · 14/02/2025 00:24

Chilling really. They seem so 'normal' not 'frothing at the mouth' types and they hold such violent feelings towards Israelis.

And they work in HEALTHCARE. Or they did. I think I read they have been suspended now.

They both made apologies. Which is laughable. I don't belive they are sorry.

I think I've seen similar stories from health care professionals. Also, stories of Muslims who refuse to be treated by Jewish doctors because they think the Jewish doctors will treat them badly, which I believe is projection.

Of course they're sorry; they're sorry they got caught.

Firealarm1414 · 14/02/2025 03:31

You know they will blame the whole thing on a Jewish conspiracy. I already see people saying they were tricked into saying those things by the dastardly jew. Healthcare professionals who want to kill people because of their nationality or ethnicity have no place treating any patients. Imagine the outrage if it was Jewish people refusing to treat Muslims? Or if they were white supremacists saying the same thing? There would be protests. Why is it not the case when it's about jews? Well, we all know why unfortunately 😔

SharonEllis · 14/02/2025 06:35

Their colleagues will have known. They are so open about it.

HiyaLuv · 14/02/2025 07:43

Agreed @Firealarm1414 and the fact this thread has had so little traction here too.

None of the posters who are so concerned about innocents being harmed in Gaza are posting regarding this. It doesn't fit the narrative how two free and unoppressed seemingly Muslim and not Gazan people in Australia still want to kill and murder Jewish Israelis. They can't justify it as 'resistance' and won't dare condemn it.

It's opened my eyes very wide to the reason the war in Gaza has so much attention. For so may people it is about the free reign to hate on and harm Jewish people wherever they may be. I'm not shocked now. I just know I have to be one of the right voices to highlight it and help my Jewish neighbours. I will call out anti semites.

Sadly the NHS / GMC has generally taken very slow action over the past couple of years.

The organisation (now banned in the UK) that was led by the GP in the article called for the "wiping out of the zionist entity" the death penalty for LGBT people and said that Oct 7th "ignited a wave of joy and elation among Muslims globally". He got suspended but then was allowed to return to practicing.

Jewish doctors face rising antisemitism from NHS colleagues

Dozens of incidents have been reported since October 7. Some staff say their complaints have gone unanswered and accuse their bosses of double standards

HiyaLuv · 14/02/2025 12:53

@VerityUnreasonble how horrific! Allowed back to work with Jewish patients no doubt. How can Jewish people or LGBT people feel safe knowing there are monsters like this in the NHS. How can anyone feel safe!

I agree. They don't deserve to work in healthcare at all. Should be sacked.

Totally agree.

My view changed dramatically after October 7th with the open celebration on hearing peace loving kibbutz families had been killed, tortured and kidnapped.

The tying together with wire a disabled wheelchair using daughter with her beloved father at the festival and them setting them alight was pure evil. It received cheers in Gaza though. Disgusting.

HiyaLuv · 14/02/2025 13:00

Sacked and a lifetime ban. Working with vulnerable people they cannot have a second chance if they apologise. It's beyond the pale. And I know the meaning behind the phrase 'beyond the pale' too. This hatred has been around too long.

People are slowly starting to call it out. This is the UK. It mustn't be tolerated.

Charley50 · 14/02/2025 13:06

They're disgusting. And that so many healthcare workers (in the UK too; seen many videos of HCPs in work uniform on ProPal marches, which is intimidation IMO) are antisemitic is a massive problem. Their employer/ the law should be coming down hard on them.

The UK used to be fairly cohesive and welcoming; unfortunately we have invited in too many people who hate others purely for their race/ ethnicity.

HiyaLuv · 14/02/2025 15:04

@ImmediateReaction omg that link. How does this happen. Some powers above don't want anything to show Jewish people need supporting not hating. It's really worrying. That old poem about not standing against 'them' and then you're the only one left comes to mind. We must stop this open creep of hate.

I agree it's sad.

If course any Jewish person has no say over what is happening in Gaza etc. The hatred towards Jewish will not alter what happens or influence anything in the middle east. Its just ignorant hate.

Scirocco · 14/02/2025 21:36

This is awful. Thankfully it looks like action is being taken in this case, but how utterly awful - to think these things, say them, film them and broadcast them...

Hatred has no place in healthcare, and people who choose to spread it have no place in our hospitals.

I am disgusted by this. I don't actually have words to express how disgusted. I'm just so sorry. And angry. Very angry.

I'm also sorry that I didn't check the board earlier today and see this thread, as I would have responded earlier if I had seen it.

Sadly, I have encountered instances where perceived faith/ethnicity has led to differences in how patients and staff members have been treated, so I wouldn't rush to dismiss anyone's fears. It's always wrong and should always be challenged, but it does happen, and it does happen to Muslim patients and people perceived as being Muslim too.

I condemn the murder in Gaza and I condemn this also. No ethical person could support either.

I’m also in health in Australia and was horrified they were so comfortable speaking like this whilst being clearly identified by their uniform (the male nurse initially tried to claim he was a doctor). I also wondered about the likelihood fhey hid this from their colleagues given how open they are on the video.

Their actions are disgusting. They have been de-registered and cannot practice, which is exactly what should happen.

Scirocco · 14/02/2025 22:03

I think it's really important to try to ensure all patients can feel safe to access healthcare. It's horrible that people like this are actively seeking to do the opposite and to make Jewish people feel scared and traumatised.

Galdownunder · 14/02/2025 22:10

If anyone thinks these two are outliers in their community you need to go to Specsavers. Typically one of the nurses has headed off to hospital, bunged on an act that they’re mentally unwell. It’s a farce. They’re just shit scared they’ve been caught. They’ve both refused to be interviewed by police and both have engaged lawyers on day 1 to negotiate on their behalf. They should be deported but I don’t think legally we have that option. Wish we did. They’d be gone already.

OpheliaWasntMad · 15/02/2025 09:52

It’s absolutely terrifying that people with these views would be responsible for the care of people at the most vulnerable time.
It’s good the reaction has been swift and decisive. But there will be other instances. I hope co workers have a clear way to immediately report any concerns of this type.

Islamaphobia definitely exists but I think in the health service ( in the UK) Muslims are very well represented ( and visible) in the work force . Jewish people are in much smaller numbers and this increases their vulnerability .

We aren't just talking about the UK. This awful antisemitic abuse and intimidation happened in Australia, and I think the poster to whom I was responding is based in the US. Prejudice, discrimination and even hate incidents impacting upon healthcare can happen anywhere in the world. We shouldn't automatically dismiss anyone's concerns for their safety, or accuse them of 'projecting' (aka, saying someone is scared of another causing them harm because they themselves want to cause harm to that other person - which is a pretty serious accusation to make), when there are incidents around the world which may give people cause to fear for their safety. We especially shouldn't pre-judge the validity of someone's concerns on the basis of faith or ethnicity.
