Israel has declared UNRWA a terrorist organisation

Israel has banned the UN Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA from operating in the country - a move which could hamper its work in Gaza.

UNRWA's chief Philippe Lazzarini has warned the ban "will only deepen the suffering of Palestinians, especially in Gaza".

The new laws passed in the Knesset on Monday banned the agency from having any ties to Israeli officials and stripped its staff of their legal immunities.

The Israeli parliament also declared the group a terror organisation.

Seems like the final phase of the genocide is being forced through. If the UN are hampered there's no way of substantially delivering essential aid. If the organisation is accused of being terrorist then there's no protection against the IDF.

UNWRA is corrupt to the core. Just take a look at some of their "educational materials."

Many employees took part in Oct 7, and harboured hostages.

Sinwar was found with an UNWRA identity tag when he was finally weeded out of his rat nest.

Vile organisation that ought to have been shut down years ago. Why are Palestinians counted as refugees in a state that is supposed to be their own? Utter nonsense.

Well it doesn't look like the international community agree with you or Israel there judging by the statements that have been released by world leaders about Israels vile new law.

I believe out of thousands of staff, 8 were fired.

Refugees can be internally displaced.

The IDF is a corrupt organisations that commits war crimes. They kill and torture Palestinians, they protect rapists who rape Palestinians and actively take part in settler violence. If there is any organisation that should be barred from any assistance or aid, it is them.

HelenHen · 28/10/2024 23:56

Dariamar · 28/10/2024 23:17

Yes, right now, but I am hopeful the war will be over soon and I can't see having UNRWA in Gaza post that will be beneficial for peace.

What are you hopeful about exactly? Where is the hope for Palestinians? There isn't any. Israel have gone too far!

Now they are branding international aid workers as terrorists?

The world needs to stand up to them.

The delivery of aid is completely dependent on UNWRA being operational.

What do you think will happen to majority of men, women and children in Gaza who are completely reliant on this aid now? About 90% have been displaced in this conflict so surely by anyone's measure they are refugees.

It was 9, and the rest? The atrocious propaganda disseminated in the schools? The UNWRA identity tag found with the Butcher of Khan Younis?

You'll have to provide evidence to back up your claims. (Which you won't).

9.What are the most significant findings
The analysis revealed a complex picture: on one hand the textbooks adopt UNESCO standards and criteria established within international education discourse, such as material on human rights. Yet on the other hand they express antagonism towards Israel within the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This ambivalence is made clear in the study where it explains the finding that many sections or chapters are dedicated to themes such as tolerance and the observation of human rights but at the same time the textbooks contain anti-Semitic narratives and glorifications of violence. Both these points are presented and contextualised in detail in the study.

Well they wouldn't have a vested monetary interest in keeping Palestinians perpetual refugees. They hopefully wouldn't have terrorist employees which would be a start. The hateful curriculum could be removed from schools. UNRWA have done a lot of harm and made peace harder.

Of course we'll ignore the footage of schools in Israel teaching anti Arab hatred. And they had a few terrorist Prime ministers no?
So one sided.

ConstanceM · 29/10/2024 00:51

These genocidal maniacs won't stop there. They have already destroyed all the key infrastructure including schools, hospitals, refugee camps. They are now committing a 'General' plan which is to starve the population. Once they complete their Holocaust they will build holiday homes for US Israeli's and the plan is complete. What other country could get away with bombing SYRIA, IRAN, LEBABNON & YEMEN at the same time and get away with it???? as the west looks away. If you question this perverse logic they throw the term 'Anti-Semite' at you, which is basically code for WW2 holocaust denial and nothing could be further from the truth from decent people from any religious cultural persuasion. History will judge this genocide as it, evidently is, and not Starmer or "Bungle" Lammy will be able to hide. Shame on the UK. We people's are better than this hypocrisy.

Why do you think that the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, France and more have all voiced their opposition to Israels new law? Why do you think that they are all so out of step with Israel on this and believe that Unwra is doing vital and important work for Palestinians? You have to admit that it is a bit of a coincidence that only Israel, the country whose defence minister declared they were going to 'eliminate everything' in Gaza seem to believe that eliminating unwra from Gaza is the right thing to do.

Are you simply incapable of sticking to the point?

Israel wants them UNWRA out of Gaza because, among other things, they are distributing antisemitic propaganda in schools.

No response?

@Oodiks

Can you give evidence that more than a few people were dismissed from the UN over terrorism links? You said 'and the rest?, so I'm assuming you have evidence.

I'm aware that some problems were found in some Palestinian textbooks, I also believe problems were found in Israeli textbooks.

If you can provide evidence that Khan Younis was part of the UNWRA, that would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

How do you know that that is why they want them out and not because like they said they want to 'eliminate everything'?

Israel already shut down all schools in Gaza, so they've already covered stopping 'antisemitic propaganda' in their schools when they eliminated schools.

It's a bit weird that you believe some things Israel say but don't believe others. They said they want to eliminate everything, Unwra is surely part of 'everything'. Unwra could be the vital and important organisation that the rest of world believe them to be and Israel would still shut them down no matter what because they are part of the 'everything' in Gaza that they want to eliminate. You get that right?

Oodiks · 29/10/2024 01:46

I find it odd that you don't find it odd that Israel have created a massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza, they have shut down all schools there, they themselves have anti Arab textbooks in their schools so can't be too appallled by the teaching propaganda in schools, but now is the moment that they pick to decide that some textbooks are a reason to shut down a vital aid agency? What world are you living in where that seems like a proportionate reaction to schools that don't even exist anymore having some racist textbooks just like they themselves do? Children are dying of malnutrion but we better make sure that in 10 years time when schools are built again that some of their textbooks aren't racist like some of ours are Confused

Israel wants them UNWRA out of Gaza because, among other things, they are distributing antisemitic propaganda in schools.

And that is emergent right now? That's new and novel information they were unaware of before this?

Or is it pretty obvious that having anyone who can observe and report atrocities right now is an issue for Israel? Anyone who can try to keep the Gazans alive. Because you'd think a humane response would be to flag this as an issue, keep the workers on the ground during the crisis, and deal with it afterwards. When there isn't a massive humanitarian crisis going on.

You can't replace thousands of workers quickly and people will die as a result. Innocent people.

to clutch at straws

phrase

If you are clutching at straws or grasping at straws, you are trying unusual or extreme ideas or methods because other ideas or methods have failed.

eg... Israel wants the UNWRA out of Gaza because...they are distributing antisemitic propaganda in schools.
