I posted this on another thread, but it's worth a thread of its own in CITME.

Fabulous work by this group. I am in total awe of them.

Jews risking their life and limb to support Palestinian shepherds in their struggle to fend off settler terrorism.

They are so brave. Thanks for posting. The voice of the Israeli citizens who oppose this are never heard.

Yet the more I look, there are plenty, but yes for the most part their voices are drowned out.

There are many stories of Israeli Jews who help/helped Palenstinians. In fact, lots of them lived very close to the Gaza border and were first to be killed or kidnapped on October 7th.

I am not quite sure what you imply. Could you, please, elaborate?

Confuzzleduzzled · 01/07/2024 21:12

@Auvergne63 just that even if all Israeli Jews were working towards peace (as many are), Hamas’s only goal is to kill all Jews. So sadly there is no chance of peace while Hamas exist.

Correct me if I am wrong but this thread is about Israeli citizens showing immense bravery in the face of danger from the illegal settlers and the IDF.
Hamas is not present in the West Bank. 07/10 did not happened in the West Bank.

Both Hamas and the far right Israeli government have openly expressed views which I find repulsive. Both have committed possible war crimes/crimes against humanity. Both have too much to lose to stop the slaughter of the innocents on both sides.
I admire these Israeli citizens and I hope you do too.

RoastSquash · 02/07/2024 00:20

Hamas is not present in the West Bank.

The repetition of this fallacy is just getting a bit silly now.

Generally speaking the kibbutz communities on the Gaza border are left-leaning, and many prominent peace activists lived there. People murdered on Oct 7 included those working to better the economic conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, volunteers who transported Gazan Palestinians to Israeli hospitals, and Vivian Silver who was involved in all kinds of peace initiatives.

Scirocco · 02/07/2024 07:39

Surely we can all agree that people standing up for the rights and safety of others is a good thing, and particularly admirable in this context.

Maybe I should have stated that Hamas is not in position of power in the West Bank. Do you agree that the actions of these Israeli citizens show bravery?

Thanks. I was aware of this. I felt that, once again, deflection was at play in that post.

It appears that some can't.

@Auvergne63 I don’t think anyone is saying that this is a bad thing. Of course it’s admirable. It’s just that it’s not unusual. They are many Israeli Jews helping Palestinians and working towards peace. And many others who just want to live side by side in peace. Sadly it seems that no good deed goes unpunished.

Did you read what this admirable group said.

The area is sizzling and violence is surging.
Our presence in Ras El-Ein is not a choice but a necessity.
When we are there we are a barrier between the settlers' violence and the Palestinians; when we are not there the Jewish terror goes wild.

The Palestinians shepherds they are helping are extremely grateful.

Correct.

keenforhelp · 03/07/2024 12:27

This is just another thread about the illegal settlements.

Many Palestinians have been saved by Israelis .

Shame that has not happened the other way around .

Mellowdramadrama · 03/07/2024 12:39

Why don't you ask instead, why in this instance they even need to be saved?
They are being protected by Israelis, from other Israelis who are attacking them unprovoked.

Mellowdramadrama · 03/07/2024 12:44

@keenforhelp is there an issue with having threads about the illegal settlements?
The illegal settlements are a ongoing occupation and oppression against the Palestinians and a major hindrance towards any peace.
The Palestinians are treated horrendously there by many of the settlers on a daily basis, whilst continuously having more of their land stolen from them.

AhNowTed · 03/07/2024 13:14

Many Palestinians have been saved by Israelis, from other violent marauding Israelis.

Fixed that for you.

OP posts:
Scirocco · 03/07/2024 13:24

@Mellowdramadrama there's sometimes a preference for people to just pretend the occupation of the West Bank isn't happening. "Nothing to see here, move along."

And there is the admittance that the thread is not about Jews saving Palestinians.

AhNowTed · 03/07/2024 15:07

What on earth is your problem?

I started this thread, about a fabulous group of Jewish Israelis helping Palestinian shepherds stave off attacks from violent settlers.

Yes that subject is related to settlements because we are talking about settlers and this is the West Bank.

Are we not allowed to mention that?

Honestly 🙄

It is a nice thread but it has bern used to focus on the settlements.
