Why is the US doing this? If it’s necessary for Israel to attack Gaza why can’t they fund it themselves?

US reveals it paused shipment of bombs for Israel over Rafah concerns

A bomb shipment was halted last week over concerns Israel was going ahead with a Rafah offensive.

Because someone is making a shit tonne of cash off the back of people dying on both sides.

If it wasn't Israel they would be supplying selling them to someone.

War makes a lot of people men very, very rich

This.

Yes, I am aware of them. These are not facts - these are opinions.
Netanyahu did not facilitate Hamas to strike against them. Nonsense.

Hopefully Israel will sign up to the deal that allows for that.

Unlikely as Hamas only wanted to release dead prisoners.

Excuses for Hamas yet again.

Who is excusing Hamas. I think what the poster is doing is accusing Netanyahu

Israel can purchase arms anywhere they want.

Countries can sell arms to whoever they want.

Plus, Israel and America are allies - of course they help each other.

Even if that is for committing war crimes?

EasterIssland · 08/05/2024 12:54

I love how many posters are using the word facts. When they actually mean “my opinion”.

just because you write facts it doesn’t mean it’s facts

the world is flat. Facts

If you can’t fund your own war then surely don’t start one ? Much like living within your means ! Reminds me of when people say in here dont have more kids than you can afford and expect the taxpayer to bail you out !

Except that one of those is a left wing, peacenik position and the other is a right wing social attitude.

Israel did not start this war. Hamas committed an unequivocal act of war on 7 October, whatever your interpretation of what jas gone on before. America supports Israel because Iran & its proxies have a clear, often stated, aim to destroy Israel & kill Jews.

EasterIssland · 08/05/2024 13:01

Op. No jdea. Same way I don’t understand why some USA senators have been blackmailing and threatening the members of ICC

Only one of these links is an opinion piece. The New York Times has an extremely rigorous fact-checking process. And can hardly be accused of anti-Israel bias - it's in fact been widely accused of the opposite in recent months.

Did you type that with a straight face?

Personal attacks aren't necessary, and falsely accusing people of supporting a proscribed terrorist organisation is a very serious thing.

I tried to find actual evidence for these accusations without success when I first read about them being bandied about on here by the pathetic Hamas apologists.
Try harder and please provide evidence supporting your opinion.
To be honest resorting to personal insult and libellous accusations is , in itself, revealing.

Are you telling me to provide evidence that I can’t find evidence of something?

The desperation to keep the propaganda going is shocking.

I see, you are just stating your opinion then. not an educated one either.
Here are more links because it appears your ability to find information is somewhat limited.

Absolutely.

I mean, if the now widely debunked lies published by the New York Times hadn't been used as an excuse to murder thousands of civilians this would nearly be funny. But it's not, it's ridiculous and false.

blackcherryconserve · 08/05/2024 15:25

ConnieCounter it should be no surprise that Israel has not agreed to the current 'offer' by Hamas. THIRTY hostages to be released over a 4 week period and hundreds of Palestinians in Israeli jail's to be set free, amongst whom are terrorists. So 100 hostages still being held is ok by you I suppose!

Incorrect. All the hostages, including the remains of those who have died, would have been released had Israel agreed to the deal.

Do point me to the report that confirms this. I have not seen it anywhere.

This isn't true. There are arms trade treaties and international humanitarian laws to take into account. There is a reason multiple countries have stopped selling arms to Israel, a Dutch appeals court for instance ordered that the Netherlands halt the export of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel. The court found that there was a “clear risk” that the parts would be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian law, as “there are many indications that Israel has violated the humanitarian law of war in a not insignificant number of cases”.

These laws are really important and are there to try and improve all of our safety.

From the Israeli left wing Haaretz newspaper:
'The cease-fire proposal that Hamas said it accepted on Monday contains "minor wording changes" from the original offer Israel and the U.S. had presented, the New York Times reported. However officials told Haaretz that one key difference is that Israel demanded Hamas release 33 live hostages in the first stage of the deal, but Hamas proposed 33 hostages who are "dead or alive."
So not ALL hostages.

"the first stage of the deal". There are three stages. All hostages would have been released.
