A horrific, sick, orgy of raping and killing.

A horrific sick use of the word orgy too

Seriously!

Seriously!

Please explain? I have no idea what you mean. To me orgy means revelling in being out of control/out of your mind/knowing no restraint.

This seems to have been the frame of mind of the men who committed these crimes.

stomachameleon · 21/01/2024 10:43

I think 'orgy' always has a consensual element to me when I think about it. As if they were willing participants.

noblegiraffe · 21/01/2024 11:23

An orgy is a jolly sex party so describing a violent attack involving rape as an "orgy of raping" is probably best avoided.

quantumbutterfly · 21/01/2024 11:46

I'm going to get some fucked up results from the algorithms now, just googled the definition of orgy to check the broadness of it.
I think pp was expressing solidarity with disgust at hamas. I hope.

SomeCatFromJapan · 21/01/2024 11:53

I think the use of the word "orgy" was fine in the context, the focus of the meaning is more on sex parties in modern parlence but it is also defined as "or an "orgy of destruction" to indicate excess".

Imagine if that effort had been put into making Gazan lives better.

BRING THEM HOME.

Apparently nobody in charge on either side is currently wanting a two state solution.

I see Hamas has released their own 16 page report, in which they state that the attacks were “a necessary step and a normal response to confront all Israeli conspiracies against the Palestinian people”.

Okay then. There we have it.

Reported in the Guardian btw.

normal?

SNAFU.

SomeCatFromJapan · 21/01/2024 19:58

Clearly Hamas think it's perfectly normal behaviour. I don't know how much more clearly they need to tell people who they are.

quantumbutterfly · 26/01/2024 07:55

Filming their atrocities was a bit of a boo boo.

If their acts on 7/10 were necessary then Israel"s acts to stop them doing it again are necessary.

Perhaps Santa's evil twin should rethink his strategy.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has announced the suspension of several UNRWA employees alleged to have taken part in the October 7th attacks:

This will probably come as a complete surprise to absolutely nobody. I'm also wondering if they deliberately waited until after the ICJ ruling.

25milesfromhome · 26/01/2024 14:26

Yes, they just snuck that through in the midst of the ICJ ruling furore.

SomeCatFromJapan · 26/01/2024 14:28

At least it's getting picked up on as part of the news streams about the ruling.

25milesfromhome · 26/01/2024 14:33

I’m just wondering whether the Red Cross will also take this moment to formally announce it’s incoming new director- general is Pierre Krahenbuhl, former commissioner-general of UNWRA who resigned from UNWRA after an internal probe into alleged serious ethical abuses.
