Have you seen this interview? It's remarkable and interesting to hear a different perspective to what happened on that day.

Israeli forces shot their own civilians, kibbutz survivor says

Not clicking on a link for something called electronic intifada 🤦🏻‍♀️ Can't find any evidence of an interview elsewhere - can you summarise what she says?

Toothyfruity · 26/10/2023 21:45

No I don't have time to summarise it for you. Here's some of the text in the preamble:

"The Electronic Intifada is now able to publish the entire interview with Yasmin Porat, the Kibbutz Be’eri survivor who told Israeli radio that Israeli security forces “undoubtedly” killed a large number of their own civilians following the Hamas assault on 7 October.

When this article was originally published on 15 October, a recording of the interview was not available on the website of Israeli state broadcaster Kan and was not included in the online edition of Haboker Hazeh for that day, the program that interviewed Porat.

Following the publication of this article, the full interview was uploaded by Kan. It includes several extra minutes that were edited out of the version of the interview that we had originally obtained and translated.

In the full-length interview, Porat states that the Palestinian fighters – who she says treated her and the other Israeli civilians “humanely” – intended to “kidnap us to Gaza. Not to murder us.”
She adds that “after we were there for two hours with the abductors, the police arrive. A gun battle takes place that our police started.”

You can listen to the full interview with English subtitles here in the video below. A full transcript is at the bottom of this page.

Also of note is that Mondoweiss on 22 October published a story based on accounts in Israeli media indicating that Israeli forces were responsible for many Israeli civilian and military deaths following the 7 October Palestinian offensive.

This includes the shocking revelation that some Israeli civilians were alive for up to two days before Israeli forces killed them, along with Palestinian fighters who were holding them.

Israel’s Haaretz newspaper on 20 October published an interview – only in its Hebrew edition – with a man called Tuval who lived in Kibbutz Be’eri, but who was away on 7 October. Tuval’s partner was however killed in the events.

Haaretz reports: “According to him [Tuval], only on Monday night and only after the commanders in the field made difficult decisions – including shelling houses with all their occupants inside in order to eliminate the terrorists along with the hostages – did the IDF [Israeli army] complete the takeover of the kibbutz. The price was terrible: at least 112 Be’eri people were killed. Others were kidnapped. Yesterday, 11 days after the massacre, the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered in one of the destroyed houses. It is believed that more bodies are still lying in the rubble.”

This testimony would seem to indicate that many Israeli captives were still alive on Monday, 9 October, Mondoweiss observes, a full two days after the events of Saturday, 7 October.

“While it might be understandable if captives had been killed in the hectic crossfire of an initial Israeli response to the attack on the 7th, this account would seem to indicate that the decision to assault the kibbutz and everyone inside was made as a clear military calculation,” Mondoweiss adds.
Here’s the interview with Yasmin Porat:"

She's likely to say whatever the fuck the terrorists have told her to say considering they're still holding her elderly husband hostage, isn't she?

FOJN · 26/10/2023 22:07

I've heard an interview with a kibbutz survivor (not sure if it's same one in the link) who said the same. It wasn't from the same outlet though. I think she said Hamas were trying to surrender and the IDF shot everyone, including the hostages, apart from her.

After she was freed, Israeli hostage offered a handshake to Hamas

Yocheved Lifshitz, 85, said Hamas fighters were “very kind” and “took care of all of our needs” after she was kidnapped, beaten and taken through a labyrinth of underground tunnels.

Ha! So true.

LeCirqueFouFurieux · 29/10/2023 15:45

Many of the terrorists were dressed in IDF uniforms, this was reported widely in the hours and days following the attacks; they also claimed to be IDF to get people out of their houses which is why "safe" words were sent via WhatsApp groups when IDF were trying to rescue people.

jojonono · 29/10/2023 16:49

I saw a different account where someone else said something similar on Israeli state radio.

Trulywonderful · 31/10/2023 19:39

This is a pretty pointless argument really. The fact is nobody would have died on the 8th October if Hamas had not attacked

Yes maybe there were some terrorists that took care of their captives. One hostage has said that each hostage was given a person guard. These guards made sure all their needs were met. The lady also said they had ben told they would get 10k and an apartment in Gaza city for doing this. Hence I am not surprised they took care of some of the hostages. This was a deliberate thing Hamas has set up to fool western idiots that they are good guys. Trust me without the incentive things would have been very different

I personally have no doubt not all the hostages will have got this treatment. For a start they definitely were more successful in their mission than expected and ended up with more hostages. Heaven only knows what those without a personal protector have gone through

Also currently Hamas is stopping foreign nationals from leaving Gaza
. Egypt and Israel have said they will let them out. However Hamas is apparently stopping them and making demands to allow exit. These people may have to be classed as hostages too if things don't change soon

Trulywonderful · 31/10/2023 21:15

That should say 7th October

Sorry I had a long day at work and my brain is frazzled

Taking someone hostage is putting them through hell regardless if they had their physical needs met!

This is the most ridiculous post I've ever read on MN, and there have been so many contenders.

I suppose you expect her to leave them a 5 star TripAdvisor review.

That electronic intifada website is horrifically antisemitic propaganda, not a serious journalistic endeavour. If that's the sort of shit people are linking to these days then I despair.

As for "oh they treated the hostages well" what, when they took them hostage away from their families while raping, torturing and murdering a bunch of other people? Yeah, they're great, aren't they?

If you saw or read the whole interview this is only part of what she said. Therefore ridiculous to quote. Please find the full version it is available.

FWhat she and her daughter said in the full interview was the lady had been badly punch by the person that took her. This blow left her in a lot of pain. Th.at on the way to where they were being keep she was put over the back of a motorbike. Then drove through men either side of her. They hit her with sticks as she passed them. Later she hate walk through tunnels a very long way. Then each of the hostages (She was only kept with 25 others) were given their own gaurd to keep them safe. This guard was there to make sure there needs were met etc. The guard told her he was being paid 10k and getting an apartment in Haza city for doing this.

The reason the a single well paid guard was assigned is firstly because Hamas needs to keep some hostages alive and in good health. This is to fool the useful idiots in the west that Hamas are not that bad. Secondly it is a known psychological trick. Hostages being frightened and not in control will bond with the person holding them. This is a way of the human brain being able to cope with being held hostage.

The poor woman was taken, beaten with sticks and held against her will. Please do not try to say well she was ok because she was not. Plus Hamas took babies and children too.

If someone took your kids and didn't return them for days. You didn't know if they were dead, alive or getting tortured. However once bad it turned out during that time they had a trip to Disneyland. Would you say oh well they treated the kids well, these people aren't that bad?

Seriously!

Yes, a few weeks ago there was a poster telling us with no sense of irony that we should be reading Asa Winstanley's book to educate ourselves.

Trulywonderful · 03/11/2023 22:13

After holding a press conference earlier today that featured former Supreme Court chief justice Aharon Barak, families of hostages held by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza gather in front of the gate of the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv, blocking a road.

The families announce they intend to stay at the entrance to the Kirya, which houses the IDF’s headquarters, until Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly declares that “there is no ceasefire without the return of all the captives.”
