Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

OP posts:
Diege · 19/08/2010 13:02

Hmm,ok I'll let you off Hippy, although you do realise we are out of sync now??? Grin I too have started to chart this month,so will take a peek at your other thread Smile. I think(from what I've picked up off fertility friend) that I may well wimp out after the 'peak' rather than wait for the pre-af drop, but we'll see.
Sassy yes, think I will relax about the orgasms Grin As Gum says, I think it's unlikely that a healthily implanted embryo would suddenyl become disimplanted, though I have to holding back from having an orgasm isnlt exactly a problem shall we say Blush (please, please don't let this page be open when dh is on the computer tonight..)
Gum come on then, list of symptoms please Grin. I have the following when I am pregnant (across all my pregnancies, not all, in everyone):(before af due): tingly nipples, some fatigue but not massively so; thrush, constipation, bad cramping after orgasm, complete loss of apetite, oh and early waking(4ish).
Jolly hope you're ok this afternoon xx

Diege · 19/08/2010 13:05

Oh and I have no idea how that sad face got in there Confused. I swear I never did it !!!!

thefatladyscreams · 19/08/2010 13:59

Hope your appointment helps Jollster. Do you have that needle in the top of the head for stress relief?

I didn't experience any symptoms before my BFPs - but maybe I am very unobservant....

I'm a big fan of charting. My belief on what worked for me (based on bugger all scientific knowledge I would hasten to point out) is:

1.Acupuncture
2 Charting
3 Wine

I know the last one is against all official advice but after months of being sensible I got both my BFPs after giving up and thinking what the heck and drinking far too much.

Not that I'm trying to encourage you ladies on the sauce! Wink Grin

hippychick66 · 19/08/2010 14:27

gum My last 3 pregnancies I've know long before AF was due because my boobs suddenly feel larger and feel like they are someone else's boobs stuck on the front of me IYSWIM.

I also find I am lying awake at 4am but that is probably cos my boobs feel like that and I'm thinking Hmm

When are you testing??

diege sorry we're out of sinq now. WOuldn't it be great if we got BFP's at the same time Grin

2 new BFP's on the charting thread today! They all use FF, i am the only one on there who just charts with pencil and paper - (poor old lady!)

AnnieDelores · 19/08/2010 15:10

Girls,

I'm about to start ICSI (6 week waiting list apparently) so it looks like I might miss my first day 19 on 10th of Sept and have to wait until my next likely day 19 on 10th Oct.

Only trouble is, I'm about to be made a job offer for a new company and I'm worried about the amount of time off I'll need! Can anyone advise me how often I'm going to need to go in to the clinic so I know how much holiday to book? Timing isn't great....but I don't want to delay treatment as a baby is more important. I don't really want to tell my new employer what I'm doing so does anyone have a good excuse as to why else I might need to be in and out of hospital that sounds plausible?

Thanks!

SassySusan · 19/08/2010 18:26

When I got pg with C, I think I just knew - suddenly announced to DH in the middle of the Cancer Research Shop in Stockbridge that I was pg and it was a girl. And I was. I think that was probably about implantation - can't really explain it... early symptons - was tired, sore breasts and hugely emotional for the next 2 weeks. Did a test a day before AF due, and it was positive - and she was a girl (obviously).

Gumblossom Put that book down - good grief woman!

Went to a Spirtualist Church last Sunday with another bereaved mummy. The Medium started off with "I hear Waltzing Matilda" - does anyone have an Australian connection?" 25 people in the room - stony silence. Well, it is only an entire continent - she obvioulsy hadn't pushed her net wide enough... then someone piped up that they were thinking of going there on holiday.

And bugger me - but wasn't the spirit this woman's old dad, telling her she would enjoy the trip and should go! How bloody amazing is that...

However, if I'd said, I know Gum, and she lives there - no doubt it might have been your unborn chid communicating from the other side. So I apologise profusely - I missed the opportunity to put you in touch Hmm

Now put the book down. Walk away from the book.

Confused

By the way, if it works, can I borrow it nex? Wink

You will not be outing yourself lunatic - as my memories are extremely hazy of the whole 3 years...

Yes - do dig out the brain neutraliser recipe... I seem to remember it was called that because after you drank it, either you lost the power of speech or the ability to move... maybe I am exaggerating..

I have to meet I have never drunk Newcastle Brown, but am prepared to give it a go...

Where in the world are you, Lunatic? If you weren't up the duff we could meet up and re-enact our youth... ho hum ... getting carried away...

SassySusan · 19/08/2010 21:24

*admit - not meet

He doesn't need to worry. Never went out with anyone at Uni... but there were a few one night stands..... Blush

No, no... very unlikely.... Grin

AlbaDeTamble · 19/08/2010 21:39

My poor pregnant brain is struggling to keep up with you all!

Good to see TFLS back chatting... I've missed you!

Pleased to hear you're reacquainted with the old Sauv Blanc, Jolls... you're sounding remarkably chipper, don't forget to have a good old cry as and when needed. I do hope you're well looked after over the worst bit of this (well, beyond that too, but you know what I mean...)

I wonder if all you Sussex girls actually know each other?? (Or even knew of each other and loathed each other back in the day?! Hmm)

Anyone else go to that ancient place in the fens? '88-'92... Nowhere near as much fun as Sussex by the sound of things...

Lia really happy to hear you're doing well with this little one, fingers still tightly crossed for you.

Hippy - hope you're away busily making sure the troops are in place, looking forward to seeing you on the lovely pregnancy post-mc thread, good that you've found us all already Smile

Thanks all for keeping me chuckling, I do love this thread!

Diege · 19/08/2010 22:27

Just a quickie before bed (no,not that type, on my day off Wink). I have to say Hippy that you're not alone with the paper and pad when charting. While I avidly devour the e-mail lessons from ff (which are rather basic yet strangely calming)I bought a boots' thermometer in a kit that comes with printed graphs that I plot with a pen.I could reallydo with a little light on the thermometer so that I don't have to turn on the light to read it at 6.45 or there abouts!
ooh wouldn't it be great if you all knew each other from uni' - would make a great first chapter for a book, which then looks back and unravells the past and its many twists of fate (can you tell I've just watched Mistresses? Grin)
Alba good to hear from you - I did have apeek at your other thread and was, like most others, shocked by your treatment. Did you put a formal complaint in?(I think I would have).
Lunatic so you're respnsible for all the drinken shenanigans then in the Slope? Wink.Actually, The Slope could be the title of the book!
Heading off to bed now.I am gripped by the 3rd book in a trilogy that I am reading at present. I am a bit of a book snob but recently have become a Penny Vincenci addict Blush Nearly as bad as my Martina Cole secret! Night to all x

Italiangreyhound · 19/08/2010 23:09

Greetings to all.

Thinking of you all.

I helped to look after two little boys today, plus DD, was ill so hubby had to have the day off work to help me! It was like two of us, three of them and how the blooping heck do people with three kids normally do it!

AnnieDelores My IUI days are quite far behind me (successful - second attempt) but I seem to recall you will need to go into the clinic to be scanned about 3 or 4 times (possibly) before you go in to have the actual sp*rm put up you. Your hubby/partner can go with you but will not be needed except on the actual inseminating day, when he will need to go in earlier than you (to make a deposit) and you would then most probably need him (or another volunteer) to drive or navigate you home later after treatment (as I think you are not recommended to drive just in case you have any tiredness or whatever). Having said this please do check with your clinic because they will know what their policy is and it may be fine to drive home etc and it may be only two scans, but I do seem to remember it being quite a few more.

It's totally your own choice but personally I never told work what I was doing fertility wise, I figured that it was not good for me for them to know. However, I usually told just one person at work who was a friend and not in my department/not my boss etc so I had someone to confide in! The reason I chose not to tell was because I didn't want it to be a stumbling block for me in future promotions etc but also because I did not want to have to explain how things had gone etc when I got back. I just said I had some medical treatment/medical appointment. I am ?lucky? in that I am a total hypercondriact so I am always talking about ailments so colleagues probably felt they could pick any one of my ailments! In fact it helped me personally for them to be a variety of things so no one thought I was seriously ill! I also used holiday for some appointments so just said I was having a few days off. Probably no one wondered where I was or what I was doing! Had I been forced into a corner (unlikely) I expect I would have been willing to just say something vague like 'I am having trouble with my irritable bowel/bad knee etc? as these were true (although not the reason I was going out of work of course!). I made it my own policy to usually make up the time I was having to go out for appointments and only actually took the whole day or whole morning off work if it was necessary. Depending where your clinic is in relation to work you may find that you can have an early morning or lunchtime appointment and not have to actually book the whole day off. Few, bit of a long reply! There is an assisted conception thread on here too and you could ask them. Good luck.

SassySusan · 20/08/2010 09:22

Morning all - can exclusively reveal that I haven't slept with lunatics DH. Isn't that a relief Blush

Anyway, have done my SWOI and SWI for this month, so now just have to SWITI Wink

Does anyone who charts get ovulation pain too? I had my ov pain on Wed pm - previously been assuming that wed was the last really necessary day to SWI, but am sort of wondering if we were stopping too early? So added last night to the mix this month.

Jolly hope you're doing ok today.

randomimposter · 20/08/2010 09:49

Morning all
thanks sassy, shall we start the investigation of whether you slept with my DP (86-89 Electronic Engineering.... therefore unlikely!)....

Due to house move and the similarities of broadband providers to carrier pigeon operators, I may be cut orf in my prime any time from now and not "serviced" again until Sept 1st (or later).... I may be around for a bit but in case I do disappear suddenly wanted you all to know there was nowt sinister behind it.

Have started to bleed a bit, maybe after acu yesterday, but nothing major yet (so a different pattern to last time). My acupuncturist wants me to wait 3 cycles AGAIN before trying again.... not sure I'lll be as patient this time.

Ooo Lunatic, sounds like you've made the move we're planning.. at the moment am musing over Henfield, Steyning and Hurst... are you further than that?

Anyway off to take DS to the farm... need to get out while I still can!

OP posts:
SassySusan · 20/08/2010 10:56

Jolly I have never slept with an engineer, so you/he is quite safe. How come you both managed to meet your DH's at Uni? I just had a diasterous on-off relatonship with a chemist doing his PhD... oh the waste....

Perhaps you will start to bleed this weekend - finger crossed for a natural ms then xx

I don't understand the rationale for waiting 3 cycles either.

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 11:40

jolly I think you should do what you want to. Sadly, waiting 3 months last time didn't make any difference - so why does she/he want you to do it again???

I hope you don't get cut off cos I will miss the heck out of you til sept. But if you do, all the very best my love. Why have you decided for natural rather than EPRC???

I have started a new thread on MN-it's called 'Has that Sassy Minx Susan slept with your hubbie?' - you just put your hubbies name in and she answers yes or no Wink
(mine is a middle-aged, balding, tubby finance assistant - ring any bells???)

How many of you went off to double check whether I had really done that???? Grin

italian I love the way you type sp*rm instead of sperm - go mad - go on type it - SPERM! Ohhh i feel naughty Wink

alba yes I often check in on you guys on that thread. My last pregnancy I thought I'd wait to join you til after the 12 week scan (in the words of Julia Roberts - Big mistake, huge). So if I get pregnant again I will join you all for some hand holding immediately.

As for me, well my Endo is defo giving me jip since the last MC. A part of me is thinking that if I don't have a successful pregnancy soon I will have to get another coil put in and call it a day, each period that I have adds to the damage in 'there'.

But then I also keep thinking, I'll be preg again soon and that's one of the best things you can do to halt endo pain - it's a tough one isn't it.

sassy i think that psychic is amazing. How could she know that woman was gonna be going to OZ???? Wow.

hippychick66 · 20/08/2010 11:52

jolly there is a lady on alba's preg after MC thread who has just got a positive a month after an EPRC. She's not 100% sure that it's not residual hormones - BUT if it is a new pregnancy it definitely proves the 'more fertile after MC' theory.

I'm not saying you can't wait 3 months if that's what you want but I can't help feeling if you defo want to try again then you don't want to miss the fertile surge. I waited one month after my EPRC and no months after my early spontaneous MC.

Your call honey. Thinking of you.

Diege · 20/08/2010 12:16

Hello! My dh is an engineer if that is of any relevance? Wink
Jollster I would agree with others that I can't personally see why the 3 mth wait either. I did a LOT of research into this, speaking to some lovely people at the Miscarriage Association, who advised that there was no need as such to wait at all, other than the token one month for dating purposes. I am one of the fortunate who waited a month after my ERPC and then got pregnant with my youngest, now 14 mths.
Hippy I did believe you there about the thread Grin.First I thought oh no, not sure if Sassy will take it in the spirit...then, oh she seems quite open minded but still...Grin
SWI day for me today - opks have arrived so will test 6ish.Not sure my temping has been very accurate - why is it that my 'up and about' temps are consistently lower than my waking ones?? Could it be my Simon Cowell dreams?? Blush

SassySusan · 20/08/2010 14:06

My main worry about the have I or haven't bonked your DH thread, was whether I could be accurate. I am rather old, my memory is failing...

randomimposter · 20/08/2010 14:12

Sassy - the chemist's initials weren't JB were they...?

OP posts:
randomimposter · 20/08/2010 14:18

I think my acupuncturist is being a bit generic in her advice to me. I think if there might be "womb issues" relevant to a MC then allowing it to build-up, shed, build up, shed etc makes more sense. But my issue is I think that my womb is TOO hospitable, and not editing out the eggs that aren't strong enough. Getting pg as quick as I do is not "normal", a bit like what GG talked about.

Hippy preferring to MC naturally if poss, as just think it suited my system more to get back to normal than after ERPC.

Am going to take advantage of NHS recurrent MC tests and also make an apppointment at a local clinic to get their view. But 2 big things to get out the wau first... :(

OP posts:
randomimposter · 20/08/2010 14:18

that's out of the WAY... losing ability to spell..

OP posts:
Diege · 20/08/2010 16:28

Hi Jollster, yes agree that 3mth advice is probably a generic thing. Hope you can get through these next few weeks ok - moving house alone is mega stressful, let alone on top of miscarrying SadI read an article a while back about women who have mmcs (having had one myself). The study had looked at hundreds of samples from ERPCs over the years, and 100% of them had entirely random chromosome abnormalities. Not sure why I've mentioned this - I suppose in the context of even 2 mmcs as in your case just really bad luck,as opposed to anything more sinister? (not meaning to trivialise by talking about 'bad luck' -more a reference to the randomness of it)
