Hi everyone.
New thread starts here....

OP posts:

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your messages. It's been a really long day since my 7:30am scan, so apologies for lack of personals, but just wanted to say that didn't have much change today. Some follies bigger (up to 1.8) but some 0.1 smaller - must be effect of different sonographers - and womb lining now at 9mm. They still think EC next week. Fortunately I don't like tea or coffee so already drank 2 litres of water a day and with the buserelin headaches, I'm up to 3-4 litres. Clinic are less worried now and have kept me on same dose of Gonal-F and don't need to see me tomorrow.

Nice to see you again rb .
Isle 14mm on day 10 should be 17/18mm by day 14, so try not to panic. Have you got another scan on Thursday?
Lottie - Good luck with EC.
Hope everyone else is OK - catch up properly tomorrow.

rowingboat · 22/04/2009 12:45

Hi everyone, that's nice you remember me Issy .
Waves at Lottie!
NPA I did manage to get syringes, needles etc.. at a needle exchange near our house. They only give out 5 needles at a time, so I went twice. They must think I have quite a major 'habit'.
Of course I told them it was for IVF and they just nodded 'of course it is'. Had to wait with ds behind some poor old boy drinking his methadone. 'What's methadone mummy?'
So we are off to Hungary tomorrow and having a major melt-down at the moment getting ready. This has all been moving so fast that I have forgotten to do basic things, like organise traveller's cheques etc.. Oh well.
Must stay nice and calm and serene [pale face with fixed grin]

Hi guys

Thanks for the supportive comments.

Lottie -- 4 is better than nothing. Getting out the pompoms for the little fellas.

Rowingboat "What's Methadone mummy?" LOL We can get needles and stuff quite easily here (I'm not in the UK) without having to go to a needle exchange thank goodness. B ut then again, I live in the middle of nowhere and they're pretty relaxed. once the nurse forgot to send all the blood tests to the lab at the hospital in the city nearby and she was walking through the waiting rooms asking if anyone was driving in that direction and minded dropping the cooler box off

Issy I think the numbers do differ according to who/how they do the scans. I had a follie of 19 one day and then 2 days later it was only at 18 with different sonographers.

I spent the last 2 days crying and accepting that this month is a no-go (because my hgc was only 7 at 14dpo) and preparing myself for another ectopic scare and possible d&c (would be third) but then I did a blood test this morning and my number is up from 7 to 29 in 48 hours. Of course, every silver lining has to have its bloody cloud and I'm currently spotting...so only God knows what's going on with me.

I've been told to carry on with the Endometrim tablets and have another blood test on Sunday. sigh more waiting, more stress, a thousand more trips to the loo to check :P

Anyway,

rowingboat · 22/04/2009 16:14

Lottie, send my love to Lotta, Lotto, Lilo, and Letti! I'm rooting for the little chap/ettes.
Heidi, I would have done the delivery, at least you could put a couple of tinnies in the cool box.
Sorry this is a bust for you. I hope everything is resolved quickly. What is your plan now?

LL - YAY for EC day! I'm rooting for those four little fellas to grow big and strong and start their cell division. Sorry your DH flew the coop again so soon, it's got to be a wear and tear on you not to have him around more.

Issy no more scans for me, just IUI on Friday - but I've changed my attitude about one follie at 14 - afterall, if it's a good one, that's all I need. Trigger shot will release both, so we have a decent chance. Looking forward to hearing about your follies growing and EC next week! xxx

Gilly, KC, Duplomania - thinking of you!

flibbertywidget · 22/04/2009 21:23

just popping on to see how you are all doing??????

LL - have been thinking about you and can't believe EC has arrived. I am rooting for your 4 eggs and hope that all goes well over the coming days. LOL at your DH... MEN Hrrrrmppph don't get me started. Stay positive (easier said than done) -- re the stress topic you picked up on earlier. I had panic attacks from ET to BFP and beyond for my first IVF, I was a stressed little bunny. the meditation CD's did help, but i thought I was going to explode. Keep deep breathing...stay busy. Sorry DH isn't there with you. And I am keeping everything crossed that this is the right time for you both. huge hugs

RB - hope it all goes well for you in Hungary.. LOL at the syringe saga. I had similar freakouts... can't wait to read your updates.

To everyone else --- hope you are all doing ok..... huge hugs xxxx

Lottie, all the best to your eggs, hope you will have 4 nice healthy embies tomorrow! Will your dh be here when you do the transfer?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Heidi, hopefully the spotting will stop, but it must be so hard to be in a limbo all the time. I really feel for you.

Like your story rowingboat, needles exchange, didn't even know those things existed. I obviously had a very sheltered upbringing. So are you going to do the ivf in hungary then? all the best to you!

And good luck to you tomorrow islegrin!!

Flibberty, I was just thinking about you tonight, wondering how you were getting on. How many weeks are you now? Is everything going nice and smoothly?
Isle hope it all goes well on Friday, fingers crossed for your follie.
Lottie, poor you runnning about after your DH [shakes head]. You are probably taking it easier now he's gone. Aah, but it's nice to have a cuddle isn't it!
If you ask me (which you didn't) I think it would be nice if he came back anyway - he knows the score now: upside and downside, so he probably wouldn't be so dewy this time? Anyway, it would be lovely to see him, for you, never mind lotta, lettie, lotto and loofa, I mean lilo.
So the suitcase is packed and the bags and we are off first thing tomorrow so should arrive tomorrow night in Budapest.
I just wondered if anyone else had a hoooge outbreak of spots in between the pill or sniffing and the gonal-f and the other stuff.
I have another chin with one spot.
The other thing is does anyone get a bit drowsy after injecting the gonal-f? Or do I need more sleep?

rowingboat · 22/04/2009 23:37

Soz, yes there is internet access of some description at the apartment. DP is convinced we will be using a 1988 Amiga to log in and it will take 8 hours to download the Mumsnet home page.

Issy42 · 23/04/2009 00:07

Hi everyone. KC11 - just in case you hadn't found FF. Some threads refer to FF meaning this charting site though.
Gilly - what are level 1 immune tests? Good luck with them. Great to be focused and feel like you're doing something.
NPA - hope you enjoyed your payday shopping.
RB - Of course I remember you. You were my vanishing running buddy - I worried I'd scared you off the thread. I only got to week 5 though and had to stop with a knee injury. Glad you got your needles sorted. Good luck in Hungary - keeping my fingers crossed for you. Oh and I'm tired on Gonal-F too, but was worse on just buserelin and I blame it on the 7:30am scans and still being on here at this hour .
LL - keeping my fingers crossed for your 4 eggies too. Remember it's quality not quantity that counts. There's a woman on my FF clinic thread who only got 4 eggs and 3 fertilised and she's now 24 weeks pg. Tut, tut at your disappearing dh though. Fortunately my EC seems to be falling into the time my friend can be here so I will be in the care of a proper nurse - though she specalised in burns and has worked in eyes for years and knows nothing about gynae. Now on the nail varnish point - I'm very that I have a toe nail infection which doctor said can't be treated whilst ttc - do you think they'll let me keep it just on my big toes .
Heidi - Sorry things are so confusing for you, but the hcg is increasing nicely, so really hope the spotting is just implantation. Fingers crossed for you too.
Islegrin - good luck on Friday.
Flibberty - Nice to hear from you. How're you doing?

Hello everyone else - hope you're all OK. Best get to bed now - another 6am start tomorrow.

Oh LL, good news about the three eggs, and best wishes for Saturday! How many will they transfer? I'm sure it will be nice having DH back for it even if he hasn't really been kicking goals for you lately (as my Australian friend delightfully phrases it ).

Glad to hear you got your needles sorted, rowingboat - like Duplo, I would never have thought of a needle exchange!

Issy I did indeed enjoy my shopping, I have 3 new dresses, two of which were on sale anyway (summer stock too, shops are obviously still struggling), so most bargainous. Good luck with your scan.

Oh, and I also asked a friend of mine who is a proper doctor and she said that a key test to check if your blood is properly oxygenated is to apply pressure to your nail bed for 5 seconds, and check how long it takes for the colour to return (should be within 2 seconds) so nail polish is a no-no. I bet they don't do that on your toes though, Issy! I think that the thing on your finger is to monitor your pulse rate, but I'm not certain about that!

I am on leave today and tomorrow (booked off as was to be EC and I decided to keep it) and so am blissfully lounging on my sofa and contemplating a run, or possibly a trip to the gym. I'm getting back into running slowly after a knee ligament injury last year, so if anyone needs a new running buddy...?

Issy42 · 23/04/2009 13:51

Lottie - congrats on the 3 fertilised and good luck for Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Thanks for the good luck wishes and nail varnish update.

NPA - Well done on finding those bargains . Sorry you didn't get to have EC but good that you're enjoying your time off. Thanks also for the nail varnish info.

I'm starting to believe that this is going to work. Someone slap me and remind me that I should be looking at this as a 3-cycle thing and the first one is just a test run to see if your eggs are OK and so they know your response to the drugs. In fact the whole thing is just a pre-cursor to going on the egg donation register. I need to think of it like that to keep me sane.

Had another long scan today, the biggest follie is racing ahead but the others are a bit slow catching up. On the right I now have 2.2, 2 x 1.6, 1.5, 4 x 1.3, 1 x 0.8 and on the left 1.3, 1.1, 1.0 and 0.9. My left ovary is definitely the lazy one, although I think they have got mixed up as I seem to have gained two on the right and lost two on the left and I'm sure the sonographer told me I had a 1.6 on the left. They've reduced my Gonal-F from 225 to 150 for next two days and am back on Saturday. Maybe I should start drinking the milk now - got scared by the first scan and decided not to help the eggies along as they seemed to be overdoing it somewhat. Do you think the reduction means I'm likely to have EC on Monday? Just wondering what to tell my boss tomorrow.

Issy42 · 23/04/2009 13:53

'3 fertilised eggs' even

rattling · 23/04/2009 13:58

Just popped in randomly to see how things are going and discovered Lottie is nearly at embryo transfer again! How did that happen so quickly?

It's lovely that DH (and sorry I hadn't got round to congratulating you on the fact that he is now DH) wants to come back for the conception.

I don't have much time for catching up with MN at the moment - only 12 working days until maternity leave starts and about 3 months worth of work to do - but I will be thinking about you, and hoping for the best possible outcome.

Issy42 -- follies sound like they're doing well and getting ready for their big day. So no slaps from me just tons of good luck.

londonlottie -- the nurse at our fertility clinic is always going on about how much easier the guys job is in this fertility deal. DH's big hardship is an orgasm...while I get stuck and poked and prodded and filled with hormones

As for me... after I posted that my hgc levels had made a promising jump but there was spotting I started bleeding. Was sure it was bloody AF and so went to clinic this morning. After blood test I went grocery shopping and then started on the laundry. Then got a call from the doctor... hgc went up from 29 to 48 in 24 hours...and the heavy bleeding is not AF. Turns out my progesterone. levels are very, very low -- even though I'm taking Endometrim twice a day :P

So doc called me back to hospital and I've now started on daily jabs of progesterone. The doc says he can't tell why my pro levels are so low but the only thing we can try and do for this pregnancy is raise it. Chances are very slim...so I'm trying not to get my hopes up...again but at least there is a chance? And I'm hoping that even if this pregnancy doesn't work out this may a reason for all the early miscarriages?

Can you feel the desperation as I grab at straws?

Anyway, lying on sofa with feet up praying this bleeding stops sometime and trying not to Google too much :P

Cheers
H

londonlottie -- I told the doc this afternoon...Every silver lining has to have its bloody cloud :P

My HGCs have been coming back positive 7, 29 and 48 -- but the home preg tests I did last weekend came back neg But I did test a wee bit early.

This is all after my third IVI and first month of Gonal.

The doc didn't tell me to lie down or stay in bed...but I've been lying down this afternoon and although the period pains are still there, there is less bleeding when I'm resting. So legs up all weekend for me

I don't know anything about Pregnyle -- sorry...but at least you've gotten something to make you feel like you're doing something besides sit and wait.

The rollar coaster ride continues :P

KC11 · 23/04/2009 17:46

Hi everyone. I am a bad bad girl. I have neglected you all. It was the only way I could get me brain away from TTC. I now must wait for a letter to arrive informing me of the date for my follow up apmnt to discuss why the first IVF cycle failed. I don't for one minute think they'll have any answers. Then I think I go back on the Bart's waiting list so at this rate I won't get to start another IVF cycle until end of June at the very very very earliest. Bugger it. My DH will be having a 40th Birthday party on 27th June. So if i'm not down regging already I can have a glass of two to celebrate. My worst fear it that the waiting list has gotten so long that I might not start DR-ing until Jan 2010. I can't, can't can't wait that long! Sorry for the rant. I must go as all staff left the office 45 minutes ago and I should have locked up and left by now!!!

BYE for now. Might be back later this evening after date with Sainsburys Trolley!!!!!
