Congratulations dharma, that is excellent news!!! Wishing you all the best.
Well done with all those follicles KC11 and Gilly, this sounds really promising. It's all gonna happen for you next week, how exciting!!
Welcome sorrento is this your 1st attempt at IVF? I was planning to do the same as you and try to get healthy but have been caving in to all sorts of sweets and treats recently. But at least I have been running twice a week, a big improvement from doing nothing...
We went to see the consultant last week and he talked us through the plan and I am a bit scared now. I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of drugs, there must be 10 different things they want me to take. and he said most people take off around 10 days during the process. 10 days?? I'll need childcare for all of them as looking after a toddler is not exactly relaxing. I think I will ask my parents to come and help me during the time, I hope they can make it. Is everyone else planning to take off this much time?
Am still debating whether or not to tell my boss at work. it will be hard to carry it all off without him noticing I think. but I work in the city and it seems like nobody's job is safe here at the mo so maybe better to keep it secret? Anyway, I will start sniffing beginning of may if this cycle is normal length.

LondonLottie. Congratulations Mrs LL !!! Glad you had a great time on your wedding day in the sun. Hope you'll be happily married forever!

I've not done the sniffing. Does it make you sneeze? Seems strange that inhaling something has an effect on the ovaries etc. I hope you're getting on ok with it ok. You work in TV. That must be very interesting. What do you do? filiming? Sound? Lighting? Do you get to go to lots of social events? Premieres? Sorry to ask so many questions!!

duplo I've only had one whole day off work so far. The initial consultation whish lasted most of the mornig and half the afternoon and tomorrow i'm having my eggs collected, so that will involve general anaethestic so I'll take the whole day off. Other than that I've just had a morning appointment and have been in the office by 12 noon. As lottie said, having too much time on your hands lets your mind worry too much, better to be occupied and busy. I guess if you already have a toddler you'll be pretty occupied already. Hope your parents can help out.

Good luck Gilly for tomorrow's scan. Sounds like you're responding beautifully to the meds. I did not have many side effects either. I took my trigger injection last night. The clinic got their times a bit muddled because of the clocks going forward, but i spoke to someone from the clinic during the day yesterday and we sorted out the right time!!!!!! Which trigger injection do you have? Do you have to insert a gel after egg collection? Mine's called Crinone. Don't know what if it does though!!! Anyone know?

KC11 · 29/03/2009 11:34

gilly my dosage of gonal-f was 300units. I've finished doing them now. And no more buserlin at 8am. I got a lie-in this morning. Bliss!! DH left me alone and brought me a cuppa at 10am! Id o love him so much. He's been really supportive and last night after my trigger injection he said "you've not been moody at all have you? I thought you'd be a nightmare to live with but you have been less moody than i can ever remember." DH is not known for sentimentality and schmaltz so I was touched my his comment. I think i've relaxed massively because i've started the ivf and something "proper" is being done to help my ovaries out. If 30% of ivf cycles are successful it's just possible i could bew first time lucky. fingers crossed. Egg collection is 11.30am tomorrow. I pray there's a couple of good eggs in there.

Good mornign to the newbies, Roseca and sorrento

Hello all,

I've been lurking for a few days but I finally see a question that I may be able to answer - Crinone is a progesterone support gel that is used to support the lining and pregnancy. Normally our bodies produce it after ovulation, and into pregnancy if we're that lucky.

I just had my second cycle of IUI today and the doc is saying 18% chance this time... so I begin my TWW. I start the Crinone again on Monday until the HPT.

Best to you all.

pinkie08 · 30/03/2009 13:17

Hi All

Just updating.

COngrats London i would imagine it was just wonderful.

Dharma thats amazing lets hope its a good sign for this round for everyone.

I am 15DP egg collection and using lovely pessaries. Had 2 replaced as although got 10 viable eggs out at collection only 6 fertilised and only 5 were worth anything. 3 of the 5 werent good enough to freeze so was left with the 2. Am quietly willing them to stay but also know its only our first time so likely hood is slim.

Testing on Fri

Hugs to everyone else

islegrin · 30/03/2009 14:38

Well, I had a wonderful weekend of bding in addition to the IUI Saturday morning. I've coined a new term: symphony sex. Hard to explain, it just seemed to fit the experience. I love my DH so very much we had a good weekend, including buying some new orchids.

Ugh - now back to real life and work!

Good luck Pinkie - fingers crossed for you!

Hi there,

Sorry to crash this thread, but just looking for some advice/info really. My brother and SIL have gone through two rounds of ICSI IVF, both unsuccessful. When they met with their consultant to review the last round, he seemed to be hinting that they shouldn't bother with a third attempt (he didn't actually say that, but that's the impression my brother got), because my bro's sperm count is so low - apparently they only found 6 usable sperm of a potential 250 million or something like that. I have heard about this place in London, the Assisted Reproduction Centre I think it's called and I know it has a very high success rate. Has anyone got any experience of it? Would it be worth them having a go with this clinic? Is it true it costs something like £10,000 a go? I had a baby 4 months ago and I feel so awful for my brother cos everytime we get together I know he's looking at my DS and feeling sad, but at the same time he's happy for me and happy to be an uncle. I so want to be able to do something to help, so I thought I would at least try to do some research.

I'm really sorry i haven't read through your thread, so don't know anyone's story. I hope you don't mind me butting in.

Good luck for tomorrow gilly!
Hope everything is still going to be OK pinkie!

We have booked 2 days holiday over easter, and am planning another 4 days over the first bank holiday weekend, nothing major just rent a cottage somewhere relaxing. Most of my treatment will happen mid-may so I should be ok.
I am still a bit worried about how I will fit all the appointments in with work, I may need to tell my immediate boss, we get on well anyway. The first appointment at my clinic is at 9am, and those book up really early so I had to take quite a bit of time off / really long lunch breaks for my IUIs.
Other than that I'm just waiting for my period (but it's still at least a week until then, seems endless) so I can start the treatment.
Just bought myself a few books on ivf. dp thinks I'm going mad and i should just do some course to distract myself. He seems to think I worry about nothing. I wish I could be that positive.

pinkie08 · 01/04/2009 11:52

Duplo that sounds lovely the waiting is awful but i think the books and everything else that we do to keep our minds off going quietly crazy is worthwhile.

Gilly Islegrin thanks for that.

Just to fil you in. The clinic said to ignore it as it came and went so fast and i could test Thursday this week as thats 14 days after embryo transfer.

Anyway it drove me crazy so i gave in this am on the basis that it would be 16dp egg

I got my BFP i just cant believe it. I never thought i would get that and be able to write it down.

Ohmygod now i am waiting for a scan April 20th and i am with you duplo what a nightmare waiting game

Thank you everyone for all your support now lets pray it sticks XXX

KC11 · 01/04/2009 20:30

WOW everyone. Seems there is loads of progress here this week. Maybe it's got something to do with Easter being round the corner.

pinkie my fingers are crossed for you. Hard to type so I've just uncrossed them temporarily!!! I am sure you'll be fine. I've read lots of stuff that says you might get some spotting near the start.

gilly Hope your EC was ok today. I had mine collected on 30 March. Results were 13 eggs from 17 follicles. 10 were suitable for icsi, which came as a shock as we were expecting IUF but DH's count was strangely low for him:12 million. All other counts had been above 25 million. He was quite upset about it. Out of 10 eggs, 7 were fertilised and i got a call today saying that all 7 are are the 2/3 cell stage and are Grade 1. I cannot believe it. Transfer due 11am tomorrow (Thurs). I will not sleep tonight i just know it.

I was very sick after EC. I was back in recovery by 1pm. Was so out of it I did not recall any of the conversations I and DH had had with the embryologists. By 2pm I was a little more awake. It was then I was told for the third time I had 13 eggs. Felt egg-static. ha ha ha ha ha

I was told i had to wee before they would let me leave the hospital (Barts). I could not wee despite drinking gallons of water, tea, bottle of Coke (on the nurse's advice). She sent me outside to get cold as she said that's bound to make your bladder want to empty. The Coke made me throw up. But still no wee. By 6.30pm they decided they might have to admit me for the night. That did the trick and 5 mins later i had a wee and was let home. Was sick on the tube. V. embarrassing. Was sick again when i got home.

nappyvalley I had fully planned and expected to be in work on Tuesday. I felt as sick as dog and ached all over. So took the day off. Was back to work today. Bloody conveyancing clients could not give stuff i was ill, they just wanted to know why i had not sent them such and such document before the weekend!!!!

Good luck islegrin. Hope your babydancing was successful. How soon do you find out if its worked for you?

Anyway all, I may be posting less during the 2 week wait. But will be checking in on everyone and reading the posts.
BYEEEEE
