Hi everyone.
New thread starts here....

OP posts:
pinkie08 · 09/03/2009 13:36

Hi Issy - the wedding is a real focus, if we successful yippee if not got alot of working out to do to look good should keep me busy.

I am trying to keep water and milk up, someone also said brazil nuts help implantation so handfuls of those going down nicely with my tea.

Back to clinic tomorrow for another blood test for the menopur levels wonder what will happen.

Lowrib help is def. the best thing you can do. My folks dont live near us and are actualy away when its ec time and my friends have already said they will help me with dd which was a massive worry.

KC11 my clinic said take solpadeine for headaches are you allowed to take it. It really works for me.

Sooty you lucky thing a clinic thats open everyday. Mine closed on a sunday but has emergency phone number for a nurse. DH did point out that if you should be having treament and it falls that your day is a sunday what do they do.

NappyValley · 09/03/2009 17:19

lowrib I am so pleased you are happy for your friend, but having been thru it twice and it failed, I think you have to be a bit realisitic that the odds are NOT in her favour, so it is best not to show too much excitement, as if it does fail, she may feel that she has let you hopes down as well as her own.

I really hope it works for her though.

Just being there to listen about the worries is a big help and keeping her distracted during the frustrating 2 week wait. And you also need to be aware that even if she gets a positive preg test, the real proof is not until they do a scan at 7 weeks, as sometimes the baby does not grow.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but just wanted to give you the otherside of the story that you might not be aware of.

good luck to your friend.

KC11 · 09/03/2009 17:41

Hi lowrib. Yes, as someone has already said that chances of IVF working are about 30% so keep your hopes reasonable for your friend. Having said that I am feeling so positive at the moment I can't help feeling that a 30% chance is actually bloody good. I'm really grateful that I'm living in this time and not 30 years ago. Imagine how many couples tried to a child their whol adult lives and there was no assisted conception to opt for, unless you were very rich!!!! I guess that's why people adopted children and babies. (and still do, obviously!).

Even AF arriving yesterday didn't dampen my spirits.

Thanks NV for the advice about temping. I will leave it to you professionals!!! .

pinkie I hope you're getting the hang of mixing the meds now. I guess you've just shown me a plus side of not having children - they can't walk in on you when you're stabbing yourself with a needle!!

How you doing gilly? I've done 9 injs now. Only one hurt and bruised. it is purple and blue at the moment.

KC11 · 09/03/2009 17:45

Oh I forgot. If I'm down-regulating for 17 days is that a long protocol? How short is a "short protocol"?

Jumping the gum but does anyone know how many days I might have to give myself Gonal F injs in the evenings? (This begins when the clinic is happy with the womb linig, i think.

lowrib · 09/03/2009 19:47

Thanks for the advice everyone, I really appreciate it. .

NappyValley I'm being good at not showing too much excitement, even though it's not how I feel. That's why I'm talking to you instead of bugging my friend! I knew about the 2 week wait, but not the significance of the 7 week scan. I'll be careful to remain cautious at the 2 week stage then.

KC11 "I'm really grateful that I'm living in this time and not 30 years ago. Imagine how many couples tried to a child their whol adult lives and there was no assisted conception to opt for" It must have been heartbreaking for so many people.

Even from the outside, the wait is excruciating, I feel for all of yous, it really must be an emotional rollercoaster (sorry for the cliche, but can't think of a better phrase for it!)

Sending good luck vibes to all of you.

Hi Gilly i wish someone had said about the arnica earlier. I have lots of little bruises from the stim meds. It seems to be harder to get the liquid to push through the syringe. Pleased all going well for you

NV i agree we all need to be realistic but hopeful too. I keep saying it will work for all of us i just know it.

Another blood test this am and they changed my dose today and a different dose tomorrow then bloods and scan on thursday early am. They dont think ec will be before monday but have still got contingency plan for dd if falls onto saturday.

Am getting better at the menopur jabs now KC11 after following the advise from mummy2olivia

NotPrincessAnne · 10/03/2009 18:15

Hi all - newbie here. I'm already learned heaps from reading this thread so thought I'd dip my toe in!

I'm 37, and 12 days into a 28 day course of the pill for my first cycle of IVF. DH and I have been ttc for 2 years now, the issue seems to be his sperm morphology. I'm a bit freaked out by the whole process at the moment (control freak here ) and am about to start acupuncture to help with the process and try to keep the lid on my stress levels.

I didn't realise until reading this thread how much I don't know! The next couple of months are really going to be a learning process, obviously. I'm optimistic and hopeful at the moment, and have told hardly anyone IRL, so may well be posting here a bit.

pinkie08 · 10/03/2009 19:14

Hi notprincessanne you are very welcome. I only joined this thread last summer and I still remember feeling that we were all talking in another language! It does not take too long before you too are an expert.

I am sorry nature has not been on your side, but hopefully things will go well for you. Acupuncture is a great idea.

as for all you currently injecting I am sending you positive vibes - despite my more negative post the other day!

pinkie08 · 12/03/2009 10:47

Ok Ladies a little input if you can!!

Been for my first scan
Left ovary
1 follicle 12mm by 11ish
1 follicle 11mm by something
4 follicles 10mm
and a few small ones

only two on right ovary and a bit small. They havent given me results of blood test yet but were really vague about the sizes am now worried that they may say not progressing but they have already reduced my menopur to150iu

HELPPPPP

results sometime this pm

in meantime hope you feeling bit brighter nv

hi everyone else hope all going well for everyone

NappyValley · 12/03/2009 19:18

pinkie those results sounds ok to me.
They will prob scan in a few days to see if all progressing. Sounds like you have a nice group all growing at roughly the same rate, which is what you want.

pinkie08 · 12/03/2009 20:50

Thanks NV they want to scan on Saturday have left my dose of menopur the same and buserelin at .25.

Read somewhere that eggs are good for getting follicles to grow and drinking milk. Have managed 2 eggs and 2 large glasses of milk.

Hi Gilly Thanks for that. I'm not very good at the no tea but dont drink loads of it.. Dont drink alcohol for as long as can remember with the whole ttc.

Water retension mainly and tired. Abdomen swollen but non of the yucky side effects.

Next scan is tomorrow so come on follicles grow grow.

Enjoy the bubble bath and massage.

Hi everyone else xxx

KC11 · 13/03/2009 14:43

Hi guys. Hope you are all OK. AF arrived bang on time on 8 March. Was SO SO happy to see that familiar old friend. Had a few heaches lately and hot flushes at 4am/5am for the last week. Feel really tired today. "Thank crunchie it's Friday!" Am I sad? I am looking forward to watching the Comic Relief programme tonight. Watched the Kilimanjaro Climb last night and for a while thought how great it would be if I got the chance to climb it too. then reality sank in and I remembered that I pulled muscles in my left leg on Weds night walking for 30 minutes in high-heeled boots. I am struggling to get down a flight of stairs in less than 30 seconds. My office I work in two flights of stairs between departments!!! .

By the way....... I've now turned 35 and I'm convinced that by next birthday I'll be preggers! I have been so patient and well behaved I deserve it. You guys all deserve babbas. You've been through tought times and there are great times ahead of us all. This year my DH turns 40 and we've organising his party and it's a good distraction.

I am fine at giving myself the injs but I HATE getting up before 9.30am on the weekends and I have to have my injs at 8am every day. The nurse said it's important to give them at the same time every day. Your body can get carried away and start producing the hormones if the timing isn't regular!!!!!!! PAHHHHH!!!!!! I have gettin out of my bed!!!!!! .

Hi Gilly. How did the exhibition launch go? Were you fabulous darling??

Hi Duplo. How you getting on with the IUI. Is it your third go?

Hi there, sorry have been offline for a bit but was trying to distract myself a bit during the 2ww. Well, the wait is over, and no, it did't work. I didn't believe in it any more this time round so I'm not too disappointed, but I still can't understand how with 3 perfect IUI cycles, mature eggs, great sperm and thick lining I didn't get a single bfp. wtf am I doing wrong?
Anyway, this is all in the past now, I will have one cycle off drugs to allow my body to recover and then it's on to ivf in april. I'm quite excited about it all although I'm aware that it can take a few attempts for it to work. does anyone have any tips of how I can help my body to prepare for ivf during my month off? Was thinking of eating healthily and doing more excercise. But this weekend I will treat myself to some wine and cakes, can't be good all of the time!!!

Good luck to all of you who are currently in the middle of their ivf cycle, I'm crossing my fingers for you!

NappyValley · 15/03/2009 20:18

KC11 you make me laugh "not getting up before 9.30am" Well if your premonitions are correct ( and I hope they are) you will soon forget what that ever was!!

Issy42 · 15/03/2009 23:35

Pinkie - How?s it going with the water, milk and brazil nuts? Was it good news at your scan yesterday? Are you having EC tomorrow? Good luck.
KC11 - I watched the Comic Relief programme too. Do you have to inject first thing or can you choose any time as long as consistent? I took my clomid in the evening to reduce side effects, so wondering if would be the same for these. Like you I?m also not a morning person and like my weekend lie-ins ? the advantage of ttc#1 . Good luck for Tuesday.
Gilly - Loan from British Museum sounds scary ? I?d be terrified of damaging it. Glad you got the launch over and hope you enjoyed the bubble bath and massage. Thanks for the tip about arnica cream for bruises and the Zita West stuff. Good luck for Tuesday.
Welcome NotPrincessAnne - I?m a control freak too.
Duplo - so sorry the IUI didn?t work. I?m beginning to think it?s not worth bothering with as only 10% chance ? I had 8 attempts and had mc at 5 weeks with the first, cp on the 6th and 6 BFNs. If you want to start exercising then I recommend Lottie?s couch to 5K programme ? seems to be working for me (or was until I hurt my knee).
