Hi everyone.
New thread starts here....

OP posts:
rowingboat · 05/02/2009 11:38

Hi everyone,
any more news Nappy? Symptoms?
Lottie, can you tell it's been depressing. I am really getting into the endless waiting mania of assisted conception.
Today I went round to the nurse at the GPs for my day three blood - hooray. BUT forgot to take the letter from the hospital, so have to go back AND I have just noticed that it needs to be signed by a GP, which I haven't arranged. Wah!
Oh well, I'm sure it will all work out. [half-hopeful face]
When is your next counselling weekend Lottie - do you want to practice on me?
Issy thank you for your words - where are you in your treatment?
Big hugs for Dharma and Roseca.
Mowmi where are you?
How are you feeling Rattling - I have read twins double the nausea?
Pinkie how exciting to be starting the treatment.

Issy42 · 05/02/2009 12:29

Sneaking on quickly when I'm supposed to be working from home because of the snow. Don't think it's that bad here but I heard the words '4 accidents' on one of the roads I use (and it's only short) and decided work could manage without me.

RB - Hope everything works out with the GP for you. I'm approx EC -11 weeks so have ages to wait (hence thinking of doing the 9-week C-to-5K thing, but hoping my enthusiasm hasn't waned by the time the ice clears - I need some of LL's motivation).

LL - I really don't worry about doing all the things that we're meant to do. I take my pregnacare every day and that's about it. I drink lots of water and generally get my 5-a-day anyway. I think trying to do everything else would just make me stressed (and even more obsessed ) and when it comes to the expensive stuff then I'm saving wherever I can in case I need 3 goes at IVF as I think that's more likely to make a difference. Besides, the pregnancy diet tips are impossible for vegetarians - I'd have to eat about 10 bowls of cereal and eat a block of cheese a day to follow some of them. I don't think it makes me any less committed to having a child. I would like to exercise more though as I haven't done much at all for a year because of not wanting to start anything new each 2ww. Try not to beat yourself up about it - if things make you feel better or more confident about ttc and you can afford them then do them, if not don't worry about it. Look at all those teenage girls that get knocked up when they're p*ssed up.

Hope everyone else is OK today.

rowingboat · 05/02/2009 14:06

Issy I want to do the couch to 5k thing as well, but up until now have had a cold or some other excuse (laziness/lack of motivation). If you want to do it I will be your running buddy!! Is it snowing where you are? We seem to have escaped any snow, but it has been cold, which is another excuse not to go out for a run.
Handed back in the form and the nurse was a love, so the blood test is off on its way.
Without these results I can't do very much at either of the two clinics we are in contact with.
The next thing is to get another scan organised to see if the cyst is shrinking.
Lottie - Jon emailed back said he could drain the cyst if it is simple, so that's good. Although I think the sonographer said it was complex??
The bloke in Hungary has not responded to any emails since I cancelled my last appointment. He probably thinks I am a time-waster. Oh well.

Lottie, stop it! I'm not going anywhere yet!
Poor you, feeling PMSy. Why do you think your temps are lower than normal? Did you see on the other thread that a couple of the ladies have had problems with thyroid levels, which apparently makes you feel cold. Not that I am suggesting that you have a problem, but perhaps there is a herbal tonic you could take for that? Sorry, I'm such a quack!
Get thee to the gym, you will feel soo much better on all fronts.

NappyValley · 05/02/2009 15:31

Hi all just posting in.

No news here, just trying to think positively. The snow meant that I had to cancel all my classes on Tuesday, which was bad for money, but good for resting and not carrying heavy boxes around which is good.

I hate progesterone pessaries so very much.

WARNING TMI (I am so sick of weeing white wax into the toilet!)

AND... the trying to lie still for 30mins in the morning is not always easy. Luckily DS has slept in late the past few days which helps.

Right now that I have got that off my chest I shall continue to think positively about my little lump of cells, applying the PUPO system!

NV - thanks for the info on prog pessaries - doc said I may have to have these when I start t, so I am now totally clued up!!

Londonlottie good luck with the bloods tomorrow

roseca - went back to clinic today to return drugs (don't want them lying around here as my 21 month old son (conceived naturally after 6 months trying) will try his best to ruin them!)and asked what next step was. Was told to call on Day 1 of next period - so hopefully we will start the short protocol from then (My FSH levels are between 8-9.5 so I guess on the higher end)
So now I just have to wait another 3 1/2 weeks, but now not sure whether to try naturally anyway, this month - can't bear the thought of having a mc again and then waiting longer for treatment, but then again, it may work and we'll save ourselves a lot of money!

Oh - so much to think about - and only 10 days in which to do it!!

dharma · 05/02/2009 18:06

rowingboat what was that thread about thyroid levels? I have an underactive thyroid and so have to take pills, so would like to know if there is any info!

roseca · 05/02/2009 21:10

dharma if you decide to go the natural way, take an aspirin a day for the first trimester at least to ward off the fear of mc, hope it works. either way me and you might be on the same cycle, waiting for AF to arrive so that i can ring the clinic and plan next stage from there. good luck

rowingboat · 05/02/2009 22:04

Hi Dharma, I am on another thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/656126-Ignoring-the-LIES-DAMNED-LIES-and-STATISTICS-Fiesty-amp-Fabul ous
I think it was yesterday a couple of posters were talking about thyroid levels and the benefits of fitness/running plus supplements.
If you are taking medication, does that mean you have normal thyroid levels?
I have read that thyroid levels do impact on fertility, but that's all I know.

rowingboat · 05/02/2009 22:07

Oh and an update - my lovely GP phoned me tonight to say he had been talking to the gynae unit and they want me to phone and arrange a scan there, to kind of, combine, the whole process.
He said hopefully the cyst would be on the wane and things could proceed, but if not then at least I would be in the right place to have it dealt with.
Felt like weeping after he phoned, can't believe how much all this stuff gets to you.

Hello everyone from a ffffreezing Newcastle.
Hope you're all doing ok.
Dharma-so sorry you had to abandon your cycle. Its incredibly disheartening but great news if you can go short protocol from your next cycle. I so wish my clinic did the short.
Ho bamboostalks. Welcome to the thread.
RB-hurray for AF. There are so many of us waiting for it at the moment. Quite ironic really, seeing as how it used to knock us for six when it arrived in the past.
I hope you can get that scan soon to see if the cyst is shrinking. Fab that Jon has said he could drain it if necessary though. Sounds like things are finally moving on for you though which is great. I know I felt like a huge black cloud had lifted when they told me when I could start my new cycle.
Lottie-hope you're feeling a bit better lovee. Yawn at having to go for your bloods today. Maybe they could answer some of your questions about your temperature. Please don't worry about the Menopur. I don't need it until March!
Hi Issy. Did you get your snow??
I came back from London yesterday and it took 8 HOURS What a bloody day.
Was fab to see my bf though. Her daughter (my gorgeous goddaughter) got run over a couple of weeks ago outside Kings Cross and smashed her pelvis so went to spend some time with her really. Took her to Harley Street for her hydrotherapy ( and see how the other half live!) Still managed to squeeze a couple of hours in Selfridges though Wheeling her round in her snazzy wheelchair!
Pinkie-I know if I was in your position I would want to get right on with it too. After TTC for so long it just seems pointless to wait around for "what ifs". Hope you're feeling a bit more relaxed about it all.
Roseca-how are you? I'm sure it has all sunk in a bit more now. Enjoy your rose this weekend and get yourself ready for a month of BD'ing in earnest!
Hi Nappy-hope you're coping ok with the PUPO theory. And as for the pessaries....30 MINUTES??? I'm going to have to get up at stupid OClock for that little joy. How revolting.

OP posts:
bamboostalks · 06/02/2009 10:15

Fingers crossed for everyone, esp Nappy. I work out my potential due date every month too!

Started sniffing today. Managed to set the whole thing up incorrectly, leaving the cap on the pump so that it all tipped over the edge. Typical!

pinkie08 · 06/02/2009 10:43

Hi everyone,

We have gotten away very lightly in Manchester from that horrid white stuff.(snow)
I know its pretty and the kids love it but it just gets in the way and makes all journeys difficult. (8 hours london to Newcastle )

Had a phone call again from clinic. I can go in on 17th Feb to learn the injection technique and start meds. yeahhhh time to get on with it.

Nappy those pessaries sound ummm interesting dont know how will cope with that bit.

Hope everyone has good weekend

Hi everyone gosh this thread is so busy I cant keep up! I havent managed to post all week but alway pop on to have quick read.
LL Hope the af cramps feel better soon, hot bath and a large glass of wine and a big bar of chocolate is what is needed !
NV I have been following your cycle closely I hope you had lots of time to rest and relax. I was looking at your profile and I think we are probably at the same clinic I also live in southampton in so15! small world. I had my last cycle at the wessex.
I had my follow up today after my miscarriage last week, going to go for a frozen transfer asap. Lots of decisions to make they said I can go for a drug supported cycle or natural not sure really. What sort did you do NV? Also they talked about taking them on to blastcyst this time as I had a miscarriage but will have to defrost a lot more if we do(we have 8 frozen), so not sure what is for the best. Any words of wisdom any one?
Good luck with starting the to Pinkie and Bamboo, and hope everyone has a nice weekend.

flibbertywidget · 06/02/2009 20:55

HI Ladies
Just popped on. I hope everyone is ok?
I haven't had much time to catch up, but will try to remember what I can!
Nappy really hoping you get your BFP. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

RB - I hope you are ok too and get some news on what they are going to do with the cyst etc. Hugs, I know how tough this stuff can be.

LL sorry you got AF, but also glad you got some news on your next tx. Seems really soon already. I have a question, why wont they prescribe the Progesterone injections rather than sticking those horrid pessaries? I am on the gestone and one pessary per day (which I "do" in the evening). I stopped the injections last week, they are sore, but at least better than the pessaries (IMHO)

Sooty, mowmi, spook - hope you are all doing ok?

cedar - I am a blastocyst fan. Have got BFP's with two IVF's as a result of taking my frosties to Blast.

We are all good here. Nearly finished my meds. I am 12 wks next week. Got a sodding horrid cough at the moment, but all is well.

hugs and love to you all
xxxx

rowingboat · 06/02/2009 22:24

Hi everyone, thank you all for being so supportive about this cyst. It isn't a big thing, but you are all so understanding.
Lottie, you poor dear with that horrible AF yuck. It's just the pits and you have my permission to loaf around and eat yummy food. It is too cold to go out!
How would you want to go about counselling me? Would phone calls count for your essay?
You can email me if at woofycreature at gmail dot come if you do want to practice on me.
Flibberty, that's great news, hope you are feeling OK and not sicky.
Cedar, you sound as if you are moving fast. Good to hear that you won't have to hang around.
Bamboo that sounds a bit grrr - the pump with the lid. I can imagine doing that.
Spook your poor god daughter, I hope she is mending fast. Your friend must have been in pieces after that.
Was it the snow that made the journey so long?
Pinkie, how are you with injections and suchlike? Good that something's happening.
I haven't managed to get a real person on my phone number yet, and couldn't be bothered to leave a message, so will try again next week. Keep you posted on that.

dharma · 07/02/2009 11:55

Hi all

Gosh, it's almost as if this thread is a full time job - I really can't keep up and feel as if I've missed loads - must try harder in future to catch up more regularly!!

rowingboat thanks for that thyroid thread info - will check it out after this!

LL 26th Feb eh? Well at leat it's almost here now - yes, it seems as though a lot of us are due to start around that time - well we can all comfort each other!

Bamboo Yes, I too used to work out the due date, but have stopped doing that as I now think it jinxes anything happening (how sad am I??!!)

Sppook I am glad that my clinic dies offer the short - in fact I didnt really know any better as this is the first place I have been to, so I thought that was the situation at every clinic - how ignorant of me.

So I have been told about this fertility calculator on the Lister fertility centre's website. YOu enter your FSH levels and how old you are and a few other things, and they give you the percentage chance you have of IVF being successful! It's based on all their results so far. I am not doing tx through them, but one of my gynae's told me about it. So it gave me a 55% chance, so i feel a little better for having checked it out. Also apparently acupuncture raises that statistic even higher - by another 10-20% (or so says my acupuncturist!!) so if it doesn't work out, I will now be pretty depressed. Maybe I shouldn't be looking into these statistics - it really consumes your life, doesn't it?!

NV - Hope you're getting on better with those pessaries. Can you pop them in and go back to sleep or do you have to make sure that you don't move?
Roseca - any sign of AF for you?
Spook - Yes I got the snow and skived worked from home on Thursday. Sorry about your 8-hour journey though and about your goddaughter's accident - is she going to be OK? My friend went for her 12-week scan in Harley Street at some fertility research centre, which she said was really good and only £120. Her NHS didn't offer nuchal fold. Not sure what happens at an NHS scan but they did loads of measurements of bone angles and stuff from which she got given a 70% chance of having a boy. She's now had her 20-week NHS scan and said the private one was so much better and less conveyor belty.
Bamboo - I always know the due date too. Good luck with the sniffing.
Pinkie - Great news on tx starting.
LL - Sorry about AF. Sending you some virtual wine and chocolate. Great that you have a date to start d/r though.
Cedar - Great news about the FET.
Flibberty - 12 weeks - how exciting and great to be nearly off the meds. Do you have a scan next week?
Dharma - Good luck with trying naturally this cycle. I couldn't resist the calculator but it wouldn't load, so perhaps someone's trying to tell me to stop being obsessed .
Good luck with scan Rowingboat. Happy to be virtual training partner. Am going to try to run Tuesdays, Fridays and once at weekend. I've just done the first session . It's too icy out there so had to do it running up and down my living room and hallway, so was a bit like a shuttle run and probably not as effective as it could have been, but I knew if I didn't start today motivation would go. The podcast was really useful, thanks Lottie. Will try to have at least one run a week outside, but still haven't decided between buying home treadmill and joining gym for the others on these dark nights. Just thinking positive - if tx successful will be easier to use treadmill than go to gym next year and wouldn't have to splash out on new gym gear (as I've worn my tracksuit bottoms decorating).

Hello everyone else.

Issy42 · 07/02/2009 16:44

LL - ttc #1, 2nd tx, start d/r 26th Feb
Issy - ttc#1, 1st tx, start d/r Mar/Apr, AFC scan mid-Feb

rowingboat · 07/02/2009 18:03

Issy, great that you started. I am in awa and am also horrified at the thought of running. I think twice a week is realistic then perhaps a Saturday. Will get my thinking cap on to see which days would be good for me. I, like you, have hideous jogging bottoms, but I did notice loads of nice, proper, thick jogging bottoms in TK Maxx.
Do you have room for a treadmill?
There is something about this time of year/weather that is not conducive to physical fitness. Brrr! [shivers]
Lottie, I would be happy to help, just let me know. I kind of know what to expect from the counselling skills intro I just did at work. It was very draining, but also very interesting.
