Hi all and a big hello to our newbies.

So far today is not going so well, as on the way to the clinic they called to say that the first pair of embryos have not defrosted very well. I think their is a fair quality one, but they wanted to defrost the the other pair as there is an excellent one in that pair. So I am going back at 1.40.

I only live down the road so it is not a problem. However I am trying to stay positive, but am prepared for the fact that we might not have anything to put back in.

Mowmi - my sympathies with the m/c trauma, but I appreciate your detailed description as I had no idea what it could be like. You are one tough lady to be able to get it together to go back to that meeting!

holidays to all you who have been booking holidays. well done and enjoy. We are going to book ours at the end of March when we know what we are doing this summer!

Nappy-hope its going ok and that second pair are defrosting well. Sending you snowy vibes.
Lottie- £125
That is really taking the piss. My DH is also very skeptical being a pharmacist and all. I was sneakily taking some chinese herbs that she'd prescribed me once-I thought he was going to have a hernia when he found them.
Anyway....GOOD NEWS!!! (at last) I start downregging TWO WEEKS TODAY
I can't believe it. Feb 16th, EC March 23rd! Are we cycle buddies?? Not forgetting that my clinic does that ridiculously loooong protocol. I will actually be testing whilst we're on holiday, which she was a little concerned about but I told her I could handle it!
I am so bloody chuffed. An end in sight!
The weather here is incredible too. I am no way going out in the car again so DS's will just have to walk home in the blizzard!

Hi Gilly. My clinic actually don't start on Day 21. Infact they couldn't really give two hoots about where in your cycle you are. Last time they didn't even ask.
I know roughly when EC is because they give you a timeline sheet at the beginning of treatment with scan dates etc on it and EC and ET. It can change a few days either side ofcourse depending on how you're responding but its pretty accurate.

Hi all

Well managed to make it through the blizzards and got to the clinic for my scan, then went for blood test, then got the lesson on how to inject, etc..., then bought the drugs, then waited for the phone call telling me how much to inject....but when it came I was told that my oestrogen levels were too high and so they have to abandon the cycle til next month (apparently there was a large follicle in my right ovary, which caused the levels to be so high)

Pretty pissed off to say the least - was psyching myself up and now have to put it all on hold for another month.

Aaaaagh!

Still - at least I will know what to do next time!!

roseca · 02/02/2009 20:36

Hi all

went to clinic this morning womb lining had thickened up nicely had two nice big folls and the 2 smaller ones had grown but no new ones. We made the decision to abandon after consulting with Fertility Nurse for now and start on the flash protocol on next AF. She says not as long the protocol cause my FSH is normally quite high they have said that the next approach they can take is to adminster Puregon on day 1 of AF which means i'll inject 4 2 weeks then logically EC and ET. Took it suprisingly well considering hopefully all is not lost next we try...... Hope everyone is fine this evening....

roseca · 02/02/2009 20:41

hope everything went ok this afternoon for you NV good luck with dr in a couple of weeks londonlottie and anyone else who i forgot to mention

Hi everyone, have been lurking on this board for a while so thought I will now jump in. I have one dd aged 2 conceived naturally after 18 months ttc. I have pcos and some endo. I have had 3 lots of iui, no luck and am now on IVF. I start sniffing on Friday. I am at the ACU UCH in London.

rowingboat · 03/02/2009 12:27

Hi everyone just wanted to pop in and say AF arrived this morning. Yippeeeee!
Was getting so fed-up that I had stopped checking MN.
So day three test is now booked, but still no word from the gynae, so not sure when I will be able to have a repeat scan to see if the cyst is on the way out.
Do you think it is worth asking the GP to book a scan? To speed things along a little.

pinkie08 · 03/02/2009 17:05

Hey dharma at least you got to know all the stuff you need to do. I am waiting for the phone call about the downregging bit and am totally in the dark about what happens when at the mo.

It def. bums to have to abondon cycle hope you are feeling better

roseca well done on that lining.

i feel abit lost with it all waiting for the call for the downregging, not knowing what to expect and not even knowing what days after we start the other stuff happens i wish i knew what to expect

NappyValley · 03/02/2009 21:21

Whooops sorry for the double post. Technical meltdown caused by stress I think!

The good news is that when I went back to the clinic in the afternoon, the second straw of babies defrosted and the good quality blastocyst survived.

So now just waiting.

I hate to symptom spot but my temp went up .1 this morning to its highest ever level. That could well be the effect of the progesterone I am taking finally taking effect, but secretly I want to believe it is due to implantation.

I know I am really setting myself up for a fall this time.

Pinkie it must be very frustating in limbo land. Even when you start downregging, the timetable is still not fixed as everyone's bodies reacts differently. It is usually about 5-7weeks from start to finish.

Nappy thats great news !!!

Thank you for the info london This morning i woke saying do you think we should be doing this or waiting another 6 months. I know we need to start this month but i think the fear of the unknown is worse than the actual doing??

HI everyone else

rowingboat · 04/02/2009 14:34

Hi Lottie, thank you for your support. I will phone my GP next week and see if she can get me another scan appointment.
Nappy - very excited to hear about your little blast. Hope it all goes well for you.

Issy42 · 04/02/2009 18:47

Hi everyone. Sorry you had to abandon your cycles Roseca and Dharma. You've caught me out Sooty - the only way I can keep up with the thread is to go back to my last post and then make a short note on each post that follows. I read the thread most days but can't always post if at work. Hope your period pain has subsided. Lottie - are you able to move around dh's stock piles ? I think accupuncture is a little too expensive for me. Don't want to encourage symptom spotting, but isn't a temp drop around 7 dpo a sign of implantation? Did it go back up today? Great news on your transfer NappyValley, fingers crossed for you. A sustained temp rise is a sign of implantation too (I like these symptoms that work both ways ). Spook great that you've sorted out your next cycle. I hear Egypt is great this time of year - one of my colleagues is there now. Hope you get to see your bf soon. Glad you finally got AF Rowingboat, did you chase your GP? Pinkie have you tried this site that LL previously directed me to. If you go to your county thread, you may find a thread for your clinic to get more of an idea of the way they do things. BTW will catch up with Clomid thread later but the answer to your question was he said no, nicely but still no.

Welcome bamboostalks - I think we may have been on the same thread before - perhaps one of the Clomid ones.

LL - I'm tempted to try the couch to 5K too to keep me occupied during this long wait. Except I'm not supposed to run due to bone issue in my foot, it's too cold out there and I don't own any gym clothes I'd be willing to wear in public, so am thinking of getting a cheapish treadmill.

Very of all your snow. Unfortunately I've been able to get into work all week. We're due a big hit tomorrow though.

pinkie08 · 04/02/2009 19:05

Thanks for that issy

I had a call today from one of the nurses who was 'surprised' we were going straight too it as the doc had written in notes that maybe we would do another 6months on our own. Anyway i explained that he did say we could start now or in afew months and we chose now. is it so wrong to get on with it?

We got away lightly with the snow, a bit on Monday and none since. I cant be doing with it so hope it stays away.

roseca · 04/02/2009 19:33

dharma have they said to you when you restart your cycle then??????

roseca · 04/02/2009 19:36

thanks for your concern issy !!! londonlottie will be hitting the rose wine this weekend with pleasure just waiting for AF then i will be able to ring Fertility Nurse to plan next cycle in the meantime i will throw caution to the wind and attempt the natural way without medical intervention cant hurst can it lol

Nappy - focusing all my positive thoughts on your healthy little blastocyst. No way are you setting yourself up for a fall by imagining the best outcome - any more than you're going to just be blase about a +ve if you've already pictured it.

I like the PUPO concept - you're "pregnant until proven otherwise". Enjoy .
