any b/feeders?

Hulababy · 22/03/2005 16:16

When I m/c I also had positive HPTs after the event for a while afterwards. I had a scan to check everything was in order.

hi guys I have a er, differnet type of question, this whole chlaydia (sp) thing has been playing on my mind a lot, althou i've just looked it up and it say's u'd normally have symptoms within the first 3 weeks (which reassures me somewhat) but i'm worried incase I have it - am I being stupid? please someone tell me i'm being stupid! I'm sure it's all fine in that area and it's cos DH is coming home that i'm getting worried about all this sort of stuff when I haven't been for the past 6 months. uurhghghh what do I do? should I sit tight and wait for teh gyno apt and see what happens? I've been with DH for the past 6 years so i'm pretty (well 99.9% sure all's ok) but there's always a what if IYCWIM. uuurghghhgh what to do!

Debs - I have persona, been using it for 5 months and it's fab, can't praise it enough!

fresco - munz is me, (bit of a shorter name, sorry I assumed u'd all guess it was me)

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 20:15

Munz
Your regular smear test won't be tested for chlamydia unless you specify. Wouldn't hurt to ask for a full screen. Chlamydia is one of the most common causes of scarring on the Fallopian tubes resulting in infertility.

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 20:18

might also add, munz, that if your GP won't screen you, your local well woman's clinic will.

munz · 22/03/2005 20:19

es - well my last smear was aug 2002 so i'm not due till this august, or I supose I could get one done earlier couldn't I? am I just being paranoid? i'm sure I am, but i'd rather know what do u think? it's a bloomin 8 week wait isn't it for the results.

munz · 22/03/2005 20:23

well that's it then i'll book up and see the nurse on friday morning if I can, i'm assuming they'll be open then. god I hate smears I feel completely violated after one!. Insedently I did have a chlamidia check when I was either 17 or 18 (can't really remember) apparently my local GP's were doing some form of study on it so I agreed just to see, if I remeber rightly I was worried then as well. oh well.

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 20:25

I'd probably consult w/your GP first. If you've been TTC a while, it might be a good idea to be screened.

munz · 22/03/2005 20:29

ah well he's a good dr but a bit of a fence sitter! althou he knew all my history when I went to see him so at least he took the time to read my notes.

we've been ttc for 10 months (althou the past 4 not activly) which is why I manage to remain so calm! lol, give it 2 weeks and i'll be a wreck again! I suspect the gyno will check anyhow so I guess I might as well get in there first and have it all checked out?

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 20:33

10 months is close enough to a year. They SHOULD do a full STD screening at a woman's first consult for infertility, b/c chlamydia is VERY common as well as a common cause of fertility complications, but don't take it for granted that they do. It is worth a screen, b/c it could save time. For ex., if a woman does have chlamydia, one likely cause for her inability to conceive is blocked Fallopian tubes. As female infertility can be tricky to diagnose, pinpointing a possible cause straightaway saves a lot of time.

munz · 22/03/2005 20:38

right then thanks ES - i'll ring the nurse tomorrow and get an appointment out first gyno's apt is 21st april, god i'm nervous thou, what if they do find something? I couldn't live with it, it would have to have come from DH. to know or not to know. hmm. know I think. how long do the results take to come back? will it be the same as a smear test? when I did go for one 2.5 yrs ago the nurse at the time said everything looked normal and healthy apart from my cervix is slightly to one side, but apart from that it's all normal and healthy, so i'm sure there's nothing to worry about as I've read with chlymidia is changes or something.

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 20:45

It's just a regular smear test; nothing to get nervous about. It's easily treatable with a course of antibiotics and a gynae nurse should be able to speak to your further about it all. If a person has it, she'll be treated for it first thing and re-screened. The results depend on the lab and how busy they are.

Try not to stress! Smear tests are lame but the nurse gets a better sample if you try to relax.

munz · 22/03/2005 20:48

lol es - I know but still feel violated! last time I had one done I promptly came out and rang DH (then DP) in tears cos I felt so bad about it all, oh to be a woman eh! still better safe than sorry as three women on my maternal side have had abnormal cells, and one died from ovarian cancer so best to be safe.

expatinscotland · 22/03/2005 21:07

I had abnormal cells. It was before I had DD. That's also VERY, VERY common. Better safe than sorry! Smears are okay. They ain't got 'nuthin on labour and delivery !

Debbsy · 22/03/2005 21:10

OH NO i forgot all about smear tests i havent had one in years... But once when i was ill in hospital for 4 mths they took a sample but i never ever gor the results so i wonder if i need another one as its been years!

Debbsy · 22/03/2005 21:12

Ill mention it when i go the well woman clinic (never even heard of them b4 mum said) next tuesday.

munz · 22/03/2005 22:03

actually will be good to see if my dr's does a well woman clinic, god only know's where the nearest fmaily planning clinic is - we live at the back and beyond!

Debbsy · 23/03/2005 08:15

What else can give you a fuuny taste in your mouth and make you feel very sick apart from pg.Not got a cold either so it cant be that anyonre please ive been awake since 5 and boobs still sore by my arms too.

munz · 23/03/2005 08:56

well many a month have I thought I ws PG with the metalic taste in my mouth (until I remember I have a tounge bar!) lol.

did u take folic acid on an empty tum? or part empty that always makes me feel sick, did u manage to get to the DR's

Rang the DR today for an apt, the earliest is next thurs at 4.40 and for the STD tests it's swobs they take not smears she said to speak to the dr b4 I went, as I have my gyno apt next month i'll just wait until then I think. I'm positive there's nothing to worry about as in the two years since my last smear i've only slept with DH and everything looked/was helathy then.

fresco · 23/03/2005 09:07

expatinscotland · 23/03/2005 09:11

Keeping fingers crossed for you, munz. It's not biggie, at any rate. They're in and out quickly.

Still getting the red light from Persona on CD10, but the leaflet said it would be red lights a lot the first month.

munz · 23/03/2005 09:11

fresco - lets hope AF won't turn up then, when are you due?

my old folks are down on friday somewhen so I won't be able to be on over the w/e and minimal next week from work.

munz · 23/03/2005 09:14

i'm ok with swobs i've had them done b4 they don't hurt, I do think thou we'll get PG fairly quickly when DH comes home - 2 weeks YAY!!! at least we'd best had or i'll be screaming cos my worries will be real so to speak.

ES - my first month on persona was red days from 6-16/17 I think, now after 5 months they're red from 6-15 OV normally 12/13/14 is dep on the month i'm expecting to see O tomorrow CD 11 here. (should be on a nice day for when DH returns)

expatinscotland · 23/03/2005 09:18

I'm exercising like mad here trying to stave off the wretched PMS symptoms I had last month. I've already started to get the wretched headache, so I'm drinking loads of water and going to spend lunch hour on a very brisk walk.
