All my friends who were actively trying for a baby i.e. shagging like mad conceived boys whilst all my friends who took a more relaxed approach had girls. Is this just in my imagination?

What are your experiences?

blossom - I think I have a subconscious fear of exactly that! I am sure I'd overcompensate if we had a girl and she'd be spoiled rotten.

dejags · 25/02/2005 20:30

We were very actively trying for a baby, including temp charting & so on.We had a girl. This time around we were more relaxed, just stopped taking precautions & were both surprised how quickly I concieved.Won't know whether it's a boy or girl until early June though.

I know a couple of people with unplanned boys too.

We have one of each - and I don't ever recall "shagging like mad"

That is my fear lockets

dejags · 25/02/2005 20:50

As much as I lovely babies I don't think I am strong enough for twins - at least not with 2 older boys.

Think DH would run away

well I'll put the theory to test in about 3 months time - although I have a feeling we'll have another boy (I feel it in my water )

dejags r u preggers? does that make you the first of the sept 04 lot to be having their second??? huge congrats if you are ( and hat off to you too - i'm missing my sleep too much!!)

blueteddy · 25/02/2005 21:14

I have had 2 umplanned pregnancies!
First 1 was a late mini pill & Dh's birthday & Christmas falling in the same week!! = ds1!
Second time dh had been on nights & his 1 night off resulted in ds2!!!
Was on combination pill at the time, but suffer with IBS, so I guess that may be 2 blame!!!
Second time we only had sex twice in the whole month!!!
Dh has since had the snip!!!

sadly no Ja9. Will start trying in about 3 months time though, DH insists he wants at least 6 months of unbroken nights before a new baby arrives on the scene.

how are you doing?

OP posts:
Xena · 25/02/2005 21:17

When we concieved DD1 it was the only time that month (he had been away)

But I heard that alchol can inpair the boys spearms so maybe that explains it

blueteddy · 25/02/2005 21:18

DEfinately not the case with us!
Dh always likes a whisky or 2 & I like a few bacardis!!!

dejags · 25/02/2005 21:19

in summary, this is my list of instructions for a boy then:

Must have sex as often as possible after ovulation
DH must not drink
must not take a relaxed approach at all (the control freak in me loves this one )

if all else fails just get on with it, have a good time and see what happens

dejags, i'm soooo tirrred. ds has started sleeping really badly in the night - hes just started solids and perhaps hes having trouble digesting it all - i don't know...

apart from that i'm doing v well and enjoying being a mum! i have a very helpful and supportive dh which makes everything manageable.

sorry for diversion to thread topic... reading with interest as i would love a girl
