Sorry I didn't mean to sound so neagative. It depends on the usual length of your cycle.

GYo · 03/07/2008 21:58

Evening all (again- been online a lot today)

Heebee- I know epsom very well, went to school there and in ashtead a few years ago now.

GYo · 03/07/2008 22:00

Hi KK

re luteal phases; I used have (fingers cross not at the moment) really random cycles as I have PCOS. Regardless of the length of those cycles my LP would always be 14 days.

So I dont think late Ov is necessary a negative thing.....

kookykid · 03/07/2008 22:20

Thanks GYo. Such a rollercoaster thsi whole TTC thing. DH and I really feel like we gave it a good shot this cycle, even GOFing when we felt bloody awful! Not v romantic at all.

kookykid · 03/07/2008 22:34

Just looked it up and it says LP has to be a minimum of 10 days to support pregnancy. So it's not so bad after all.

NJ - your scan pics are amazing! You can see so much detail in them.

You all made me chuckle today with your conversation... snakes indeed!

Off to bed - 1st night off in ages!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/07/2008 07:23

Morning all

Yep Kooky is right, your LP should stay roughly the same month to month, so if you OV late, you should expect a later period. Good LP's should be somewhere between 10 and 18 days, any shorter or longer could cause problems, and if your LP varies dramatically it could also be a sign of a problem. So this cycle you might OV on CD14, period begins 14 days later CD28, next cycle you could OV on CD20 period begins 13 days later CD33. That is quite 'normal' And why lots of people don't have regular periods, it isn't that their period itself is late, it is just that they OV'ed later. (Or indeed if their period is early, they probably OVed earlier)

Thanks Kooky, I still keep looking at the pictures, the one where you can see hands and knees but no arms and legs amuses me! LOL

LB sorry your sickness is so bad Have also heard about the ginger, and drinking as much water as poss, and you can also try the travel sickness bands that go around your wrist, some people swear by these things, others huff and laugh about how crap they were!

Cosmo, glad you had a good holiday Bet this weather you've come back to isn't much fun!

Did I see Moos pop her head in yesterday? Where have you gone???

And talking of people missing in action, has anyone heard anything from BB? I know she is on a break, but wondered if we knew she was OK??

calsworld · 04/07/2008 09:06

Morning all - well, had very good GOF last night , certainly seeemed to shrug off some of the tedium anyway. Still using pre-seed too.

KK - my cycle is 31 days more often than anything else - which would give me a LP of 10 days, but has gone up to 41 on one freak occasion. We really are true cycle buddies this month aren't we with our late OV's!

We even managed to get the timing right - DH first, then me, if you see what I mean !

I wonder if all the flying last week perhaps caused a bit of a delay with OV - I had four flights in two days, it certainly upset my tummy! Then I had a tummy bug over the weekend as well, courtesy of DS.

I love the sunshine, it makes me feel so much better. (Don't think I've ever 'fessed before that I suffer from depression but have been off the AD's for about nine months now - biggest break in about 4 years - and feeling quite proud of it too ).

Anyhoo, best get on with some work for now, I'll catch up later. x

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/07/2008 09:10

Have fun at Tesco!

I am waiting on a bloke to come and pick the car up, don't think I've said anything about it, but basically when we went for the test drive DH noticed the front tyres were quite worn, the bloke that sold us a car said when it was serviced they'd obviously check all the tyres and if any of them had a tred of less than 3mm then they'd change them. When DH picked the car up, they hadn't serviced it, and he had to take it in to be serviced on the Monday before we went away. When he picked it up after the service they hadn't changed these front tyres saying one had measured at 3mm dead on and the other one at 2.9mm so they weren't prepared to change them. DH had a look and thought they looked less than the legal 1.6mm so took the car to a tyre place to get them to independantly checked, they said one of them was at 1.5mm, and the other at 0.5mm, which basically means they sold us an illegal car and The place we bought it from (Arnold Clark, so not a dodgy back street garage by any means) have really tried to dig their heals in and say they weren't going to change them for free, that they'd pay for one tyre and we would pay for the other, which obviously we weren't happy with, but eventually after getting a bit shirty with them they have agreed to change them both! So like I said, am waiting for the bloke to come and pick the car up (DH refused to drive it, seeing as it is illegal!) and then I have to nip into town to get some birthday cards and vouchers (t'is mum's foster sons birthday tomorrow, only just realised the date! )

Jeez, I know how to warble on don't I? ( Don't answer that!)

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/07/2008 09:12

Morning Cal

Yes have heard flights and illness can cause delayed OV. Well done on the AD break! It's a massive step

calsworld · 04/07/2008 09:15

Oooh LB, my morning sickness tips; I didn't have hyperemesis, but I did have MS all the way through till about 38 weeks - I certainly didnt' see that coming!

1.) Eat little and often, and if you're worried about weight gain, try plain crackers. If struck first thing in the morning, keep a little container next to the bed and before you even get up, eat a cracker. I really wish I'd listened to this advice earlier on. And a plain cracker isn't as unattractive as it sounds. Rich tee are good too.

  1. If you wake up in the night for a pee (who doesn't?) take the opportunity to eat another cracker! It will give your sugar levels a little boost and stop you feeling too bad first thing in the morning.

2a) Just thought of this one - try not to rush around too much first thing in the morning - and have a sustaining breakfast like porridge or shreddies.

  1. Graze during the day, and try to avoid high sugar foods - high protein is the best for maintaining sugar levels without getting sudden surges and dips. Its the surges and dips that can really make MS worse.

  2. If you look at food and think you can't eat it, try giving it a go anyway, shut your eyes if you have to!

  3. High juice foods are good too - things that are moist when you eat them, like pineapple, tomato - you get the gist.

  4. Seabands, they worked for me, I wore them to work.

  5. Preggie pops, order them on line and sit and suck on them. The sour fruit flavoured ones are the best.

  6. Ginger biscuits and ginger beer are apparently good although they didn't work for me.

  7. Being tired will make it worse, so try to rest whenever possible

  8. Carry emergency snacks in your handbag for when you're out and about. Towards the end I swapped my 'healthy' fruit and nut bars for Mars bars. Was in a meeting and lunch was being served late so excused myself for a 'natural break' and scoffed the mars bar in the loo . Fortunately I remembered to check there was no chocolate on teeth before returning to the meeting.

calsworld · 04/07/2008 09:18

'tea' not 'tee' - i def. wouldn't recommend golf first thing!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 04/07/2008 09:20

PMSL at getting out of bed and stepping on your own private golf course DH built in the back garden, just to help with MS LOL

GYo · 04/07/2008 09:27

Morning All

Hope everyone is well and glad its Friday!

all this stuff about LPs is interesting. Thanks for your info NJ. I just looked up on the net too and Im hoping its positive news for me.

Most of my life (adult!) I've had rubbish cycles due to PCOS but I've always been aware - since I was 17ish- of the EWCM nd then getting AF 14 days later (exactly 14days everytime)... I've assumed I wasnt ovulating due to the PCOS but maybe I have been or I wouldnt get a set 14day LP....

Anyway- Im rambling a bit as I think "out loud"

lastboxoftampons · 04/07/2008 09:57

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been around in a while - but just scanning the last few posts and noticed that Gyo you live in Ashtead? My MIL lives there, my husband grew up in Ashtead.

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:02

Hi Lbox

I didnt live in Ashtead but went to school there for a short period.

Lots of connections appearing on this thread.

How are you today Lbox?

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:03

Morning all,

Cal - It really isn't fair, I'm sorry, it was your turn next not mine. Fingers crossed it will happen for you soon. I honestly believed it would take ages. I have long irregular cycles from 31-38 days and although being on here I have learnt to identify that it is my ov that changed not my LP I still thought it would effect my ability to conceive. Obviously not, so even if things go wrong (please hope they don't) at least I know I can get pg!

Nat - that is really shit all this car crap. I'm going to have to sell my car soon (now I def can't afford to keep it!) and either manage without one or buy a cheaper one with the change left over when I sell my car and pay off the remaining balance. If I can't manage without a car (and tbh everywhere in town is walking distance so I should be able to) should have 1-2k left over which is enough to buy me a cheap little run around, all I need as I hardly ever use it.

Hi everyone else.

glaskham · 04/07/2008 10:19

morning all!!

I'm now 5dpo, and still holding out very strong on testing.... honestly dont think we've hit it this month either, but one can hope eh!!?? I know its way too early for symptom spotting so not even going to bother!! My one concern is still the +opk at cd10.... i swear it was exactly the same as the one i got on cd14 (the ov day i'm going off) and am worried that for some reason 2 eggs were released!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:23

Morning Glask, I am no expert but I would say it is more likely that you tried to ov on CD10 (hence the rise) and failed and then ov'd a few days later. you can get several LH rises in a month. The rise doesn't mean you will ov, just that your body is preparing to ov.

calsworld · 04/07/2008 10:24

Morning Playing! How are you this morning? Don't apologise you numpty! I've got lots going against me and I know I'm in it for the long haul. I just don't want any of you to bugger off and leave me! Fingers crossed for all of us to get our BFP's.

Anyway, as someone said, if we carry on at this rate, spreading the due dates over several months, we should be able to see each of us through birth and then after rather than all of us fading out at the same time with births and then not coming back, IYSWIM? My AN/PN club has really died a death and I think that's a real shame. Lets hope the wagon just keeps rambling on .

Having said that, it would be quite nice to catch this month as it would put the due date very near to my birthday! On the other hand, both of my sisters and my Grandad have their birthdays in March so another month would be just as nice.

I forgot to say, my my toppest tip ever for MS was sitting in the bath. Always made me feel loads better. Think its something to do with the weightlessness that's achieved?

I'm really not getting much done today

lastboxoftampons · 04/07/2008 10:27

Glas - two eggs can only be released very close to one another - within 24 hours at the most. So you couldn't have ovulated on CD10 and then again on CD14. But your body could've been gearing up to ov on CD10 and surged in LH, only to decide it wasnt' ready yet.

Hi Gyo I'm fine. Confused as ever really about my cycles! It was my first month doing OPKs, which were supposed to clear up any confusion! I had a big temp spike at CD18 and then again on CD19 (suggesting I ov'd on CD17 or 18) but didn't get a positive on the OPK until CD18 and then another one on CD19, so depending on the setting on FF, it tells me I ov'd on CD17 or CD20. I think it's more likely to be CD18 but it still doesn't make total sense based on the OPKs. Anyway, if I go by CD18, I'm 9dpo today and had the faintest spotting yesterday. Seems to be all but gone today, but I'm not very hopeful. Last month I had the same spotting on 8dpo and we all know how that one ended. I'm not so upset about another failed TTC month, I'm more upset about spotting so early on and my absolute crap LP. Even though I have conceived with a 10day LP, because it's so short, any spotting before actual AF is really bad.

Anyway, so pleased for all the new BFP's! Congrats!

calsworld · 04/07/2008 10:27

Playing, I've always been a bit bemused by the whole temping thing, but what you've said makes a lot of sense. I guess that's why you have to weight for three consistent rises, to make sure that its not just an 'attempt' to OV, but the real thing?

Oh Glaskham, you spoil sport - symptom spot, you know you want too .

Was planning a quiet weekend this weekend after several busy ones, but IL's rang last night and agreed with DH they are coming up for the day tomorrow. Hope MIL is not in one of her funny paranoid moods as it does make everything very uncomfortable.

glaskham · 04/07/2008 10:31

ok cals, just for you i've been very tired the last couple of morning when waking up (at around 8am i may add which is late for me) but i dont think its a 'symptom' i think its because of my illness over the weekend...

and thats good to know re-ovulation.... i really and honestly was panicing!!

GYo · 04/07/2008 10:38

Hi Lbox -that does sound confusing!! It could be implantation bleeding maybe?

Regarding short LPs, is there any medical support for that available? to help lengthen it? does anyone know?

Cals/Glaks - re symtom spotting, if its too early from 5dpo, when it is reasonable to start?

Also I know there is always lots of talk re preg tests, but what is the best one to buy?
is it FR? Want to get some for the cupboard that I will only use when I'm definately late (haha- I hear you all shout) but I will try!

Thank you

Playingthe9monthwait · 04/07/2008 10:39

Hi Cal, I wasn't apologise for me getiing pg, I am just sad that you're not! In my mind it doesn't seem fair that some people catch quickly and others take forever, I get really day when I read some of the other threads on here with people who have been trying years. Mind you I suppose life just isn't fair, to have an average some people have to cacth quickly others have to take longer. I am also relatively young so I suppose that helps.

No one in our family has a March birthday and it would mean that I get all of spring and summer off on matty leave which is nice.

I'm being very unproductive today (and yesterday), I just can't seem to concentrate!
