Recurrent Chemical Pregnancies

I have cross posted this so apologies!

TW: Recurrent chemicals

Hi everyone. I was looking for some advice really, and maybe some friendly people I can stay in touch with who have been through a similar situation.

TLDR: Trying to conceive my second child for 8 months. 3 consecutive early losses/chemical pregnancies. Looking for answers.

In April, May, and June I had 3 consecutive chemical pregnancies. For all three I've had darkening tests, followed by them getting lighter then I bleed. The first one was around 5 weeks, the following 2 were just a day or two after my period was due.

I went to my GP after the second, who was pretty dismissive but agreed to do some basic blood tests (iron, thyroid, vitamin levels) but nothing hormonal. The only relevant thing these showed were low vitamin D, which I'm now supplementing. They also showed low white blood cells and neutrophils (but I always have this so don't think it's relevant) and a slightly raised ALT (liver enzyme) which they are rechecking.

Now I've had a third chemical, they have reluctantly agreed to refer me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but the wait is likely to be at least a year.

This cycle I took a break from trying and checked my progesterone privately. It was 45.5nmol/L at day 21 which looks pretty strong, and indicates I'm ovulating well. My luteal phase is anywhere from 11 to 14 days, although during my third chemical I started spotting at 9dpo. ChatGPT did say I could potentially still look at progesterone suppositories as my levels may not be staying high enough to sustain a pregnancy, but obviously I've got no way of knowing if that is good advice or not, and no way of getting progesterone anyway as I doubt my doctor would agree to prescribe it.

Up until this month I was still breastfeeding my 17 month old. I've now stopped as I convinced myself it may be affecting my hormones. So we will see if that helps at all.

Does anyone have any other advice or ideas of what I could do to try to have a healthy pregnancy?

@charlzz gosh that sounds so scary! So pleased he is ok and hopefully nothing serious. So worrying for you

AF arrived for me today a day early, knew I was out already this month

charlzz · 26/08/2025 06:30

Ahh @Panda34, I'm 13dpo and BFN. And from the cramps I'm having, AF will be here any second. BUT I'm taking this cycle as a win because now I've stopped breastfeeding my luteal phase has gone from either 10 or 11 days to at least 12 now! So that's got to mean something good for fertility. What CD do you normally ovulate? Wonder if we will sync again for next cycle haha

@charlzz well that’s one good thing that your LP has extended, perhaps if your hormones have settled a bit now after breastfeeding then next cycle will be the one!

I used to ovulate around cd18-20 but the last few cycles have been earlier around cd15/16 so who knows! My app is predicting the 8th sept

charlzz · 26/08/2025 12:22

@Panda34 AF arrived literally half an hour after replying to you this morning haha. But even 12 days LP is better than I've been getting so fingers crossed for next cycle. I think I should be ovulating the 8th or 9th too, so we should definitely check back in with eachother during the dreaded TWW!!

So I had multiple BFP on Sunday at 12dpo. Same yesterday, but today there’s pink cm around my cervix and both my Wondfo strip and Clearblue are fainter. The first response is a tiny bit darker but it’s still so light. So probably my third chemical.

I contacted the doctor and she’s referred me to the recurrent loss team. But I don’t know if they’ll take it seriously as they’re all before 5 weeks.

I’m just so crushed. My cramping symptoms were so strong that I really thought this was it.

Panda34 · 26/08/2025 17:11

@EmPeEf sorry to hear, horrible that we can’t get excited when we see a second line. Hopefully they’ll take you seriously, a loss is a loss at the end of the day no matter how early. My drs did refer me when I said all between 5-6 weeks, though still waiting for an appointment.

@charlzz sorry AF turned up, yes we can def catch up again next month!

Oh @EmPeEf, I'm so sorry. How were your tests today?

A loss is a loss, and it is still crushing even when it is early. I've been referred with one loss at 5 weeks but the other two I'd barely missed my period. Can't report on how seriously they take it yet as I've not been seen, but I am hopeful they will provide us with the tests we need.

I really am sorry again you're going through this worry. ❤

@charlzz so I started bleeding last night and through today. Filling tampons. Tested with a cheapy because with my other chemicals they were negative so quick, and my cheapy and Clearblue yesterday were negative.

But I got a faint line on the cheapy. Darker than yesterday. Tested with clear blue. I think it’s also darker than yesterday. I’d spent the day “saying goodbye” and keeping busy, and now am really confused.

Top is Monday, 13dpo. Middle yesterday and started bleeding. Bottom this evening. My GP referred me to the recurrent loss unit yesterday.

@EmPeEf ah that's so confusing and difficult to deal with, especially when you're bleeding so heavily. Definitely test when you stop bleeding to see if they're negative. The glimmer of hope is so hard isn't it. I am sending you love ❤️

Hi ladies, I can’t find a thread on here that I can chat to others who have been in same boat so hope you don’t mind. Partner and I are 42 - well I’m actually 42 tomorrow which makes this all so much more cruel! 😩😢 We have a daughter who is 6!

I tested Saturday 23rd August 10DPO and had a line
Sunday 24th shadow line on clear blue and then by the evening positive 1-2 weeks on digital.
By Tuesday last week line was darker then darker line on frer on Thursday.
SINCE my lines are still faint and yesterday lighter.

Im still to bleed and haven’t even had any spotting of blood so this is so hard as I just want it to be over as not meant to be but I can’t try and move on when stuck in limbo. I’m under fertility team for investigations and I’m supposed to call to book a hycosy but I’m just stuck in between I’m pregnant as haven’t bled but I’m not because of my pregnancy tests.

Sorry for the rant, I just feel stuck, lost and it’s my birthday tomorrow and I can’t even say I’m pregnant as even though tests show I am, I’m not! Do I just wait?

Panda34 · 13/09/2025 22:35

How’s everyone doing this cycle? Think I’m 3dpo..

@charlzzhope your little boy has been ok since his scary episode?

@Iris2024just seen your message, How are you doing now? Horrible when you don’t know which way it’s going to go, a horrible waiting game.

Muddysocks1 · 14/09/2025 18:20

Think I’m on ovulation day, need to sneak in DTD later as didn’t yesterday! First cycle on letrozole, had side effects when taking but don’t feel or notice any difference around ovulation.

how are you @Panda34? It’s a constant countdown isn’t it, to ovulation then to see if it’s worked!

Panda34 · 14/09/2025 19:08

@Muddysocks1 ooh hope the letrazole works for you! Yep a constant countdown, only 6 more days til testing 🤣
ive been trying baby aspirin from ovulation the last few months but decided I’m only going to take it from bfp now. I was getting faint lines every month and having chemicals until started taking the aspirin and then nothing. Don’t know if coincidence or what!?

EmPeEf · 16/09/2025 00:30

Fingers crossed the aspirin helps you get closer to a sticky BFP @Panda34.

I think my parter and I have decided to pause trying for a while. Three losses in four months was traumatic and we’re just meant to suck it up cos they were just chemicals. But I think I need some time.
And we’re just about to put our house on the market, so we’ll focus on that for now as it’s giving me autistic burnout like nothing else talking to all the people involved! 😅

EmPeEf · 16/09/2025 00:31

Oh, should have mentioned I’m CD21 and possibly 6dpo, so we need to see what this month brings as we only decided a couple of days ago to stop.

Muddysocks1 · 16/09/2025 07:41

That sounds a good idea @EmPeEf

When I’ve felt overwhelmed by it, I’ve tried to focus on different projects (like recently renovated the bathroom) - need to get going with another project!

I’m either 1 or 2DPO. Going to try and just distract myself for next couple of weeks, but want to increase my movement so going to try and squeeze in a daily walk. Good for MH but also apparently good for blood flow and lining. Otherwise trying not to think too much about it

JupiterDaze · 16/09/2025 21:05

Hey all, hope everyone is keeping well. I’ve just got my recurrent miscarriage appointment through today. For May 2026. Is this the norm experienced for anyone else? An 8 month wait for an initial consult is absolutely shocking

charlzz · 18/09/2025 14:56

@Iris2024 are you doing ok? Such an awful waiting game when you're just in limbo. 😔

@Panda34 he's absolutely fine thank you so much for asking! We are just waiting for an appointment with the fit specialist but he hasn't had any more since.

@Muddysocks1 have you had any symptoms with the letrozole? So hopeful for you this month!!

@EmPeEf It really is so emotionally draining isn't it. I don't blame you at all for taking a step back for a bit to recover from the trauma. I feel very similar.

@JupiterDaze I got referred 8 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet, except that the average waiting time in (according to my NHS app) is 17 weeks.

An update on me, I'm maybe 9dpo although I didn't do OPKs this month (I was away at the start of my cycle). Not feeling confident about this month because I got a UTI so didn't DTD as much as I would usually!!! But I'm going to start testing tomorrow at 10dpo and we'll see!

@Panda34 @charlzz thank you for checking in with me, I bled and lost the pregnancy. We are back to trying again this cycle but my LH tests are dark every day. It’s so weird. CD8 to today CD18 so no idea where I am. I think I missed peak overnight on CD12 but who knows as all my tests are dark?!?!

Wow that does seem a really long wait! I’d heard about 3 months - I’ve seen some conversations on the Worst Girl Gang ever facebook page on waiting times for recurrent loss appts

only symptoms I’ve had was feeling very tired and woozy particular in the mornings (I took the tablets at night), it’s only 5 days but I’ve still been really tired since. Currently 4dpo.. so about a week until testing. Really hoping it’s helped 🤞🏻

EmPeEf · 18/09/2025 15:45

Oh my god. Literally the month we decide to take a break to heal and to focus on selling our house. I’m dumbfounded. At the most I’m 10dpo but that would have been OV on CD13 which is early for me.

@EmPeEf oh amazing! Bet you can’t believe that, and a good line for 10dpo too!

@charlzz so pleased he’s been ok, such a worry! Got my fingers crossed for you for testing tomorrow 🙏🏻 I might test tomorrow as well, will be 9dpo but going on holiday early doors sat so might not get a chance to test then! So will either have good news or AF on holiday, hopefully not the latter lol

@Iris2024 so sorry to hear 😞 guess takes some time for lh to regulate after a loss, very confusing when you don’t know what’s going on, hope you have some luck this cycle 🙏🏻
