@ChaE05unfortunately we had a 6-8 week wait for our results and that’s north west anglia, apparently they are really busy all over at the moment

roamingcat · 11/06/2025 19:31

Can anyone advise on how long you need to be TTC for before the GP will do testing? I'm 30 and DH is 33, we're trying to conceive for the first time and haven't been succesful after 3 months. We've used clear blue ovulation tests for the last two months and timed things with the smiley face and still not been succesful which is worrying me a bit...

ChaE05 · 11/06/2025 19:40

@CharlotteRae6-8 weeks for appointment or 6-8 weeks for results?!

may depend on counties, but i think in general for an under 35 is 12 months x

@roamingcat I’ve ordered an at home fertility blood test to get an overview as a GP won’t see you at then age until post 12 months of TTC. Well worth paying the money for us so we can see what’s happening more for peace of mind aswell hoping everything’s going to come back fine

CharlotteRae · 11/06/2025 20:09

@roamingcat3 months honestly is no time at all, I wouldn’t worry until you get to a year, just keep doing what your doing 😊

CharlotteRae · 11/06/2025 20:10

@ChaE05hmm I think the initial appointment was about 3 weeks and then they said upto 8 weeks for the results 😬

I can see this very clearly!!

bigbird1234 · 11/06/2025 20:47

@kiki2516thats interesting! Have you now tested positive??

@megan345, it’s taking every fibre of my being not to test. Swore I wouldn’t symptom spot this month but here we are. My plan is to go to toilet asap in the morning and then tell myself it would be too dilute the rest of the day.

hoping to make it till Saturday…

You don’t even need to zoom or squint. Clear line! Eeeek. Congrats. How many DPO are you??

Has anyone's other half gone ahead and had sperm analysis done via GP? My partner picked up his little pot and told to book appointment with the hospital. He phoned today and its a 2 month wait!! And I won't be referred to the fertility clinic until this is done! 😫 he's going to try some other hospitals tomorrow to see if the waiting lists are any better x

Yes mine did and it was a similar wait. But our gp referred to fertility clinic before the test results came back x

2Sugars2 · 11/06/2025 21:00

Ahhhh I actually can't believe it 🥹🥹🥹 I'm around 11dpo (I think, I didn't use opks this month ironically!)

I've never been pregnant before... what do I do? Do I get more tests? I only have these cheapie pre mom ones.

3 months is still totally within the very normal range for people with no issues. It’s usually 1 year under 35 and 6 months if over, but they’ll usually do testing before if there’s an obvious issue or something you’re worried about xx

Oh wow!

to reassure, my DH had to wait for the test but the results for only a few days. They do the actual test immediate, I think the delay can be in it being sent to GP surgery and then processing the result. For us it wasn’t long at all

kiki2516 · 11/06/2025 21:05

@bigbird1234 I have yes! I got my clear but faint positive at 9dpo, I am 11dpo today and a lot more clearer☺️ x

@2Sugars2 I can see the line too!!x

ForGiddyDreamer · 11/06/2025 21:09

Ahh thank you. Yes, something was niggling at me so I tested again tonight. Keep me posted how you get on 🤞🏼🤞🏼

FlyHighSky72 · 11/06/2025 21:34

@2Sugars2yay congrats! Yeah try and get a first response and test again not tomorrow but the morning after to give the hormones enough time to double! (Would be my advice)

FlyHighSky72 · 11/06/2025 21:36

@bigbird1234how many DPOs are you today? I’m trying to wait until Sunday - I’ll be 12DPO on Sunday which is when I had my first (and only BFP 10 years ago!)
