Sorry to read of those with bad news, hope you're okay

Congrats to @laurajane07and @Muddysocks1how exciting for you both 💕

I have a random and not very important question but asking anyway... me and DH are out for dinner tonight with our friends, I normal enjoy a glass of wine (or two) with them and even tho I'm only CD9 so no where near being pregnant I don't really want to drink. I can't offer to drive because my friend already offered and she told me a few weeks ago she's pregnant so she defs isn't drinking, and I saw her a few weeks ago when I was in my last TWW so wasn't drinking them either... any suggestions?! They will be very suspicious(in a nice way) if i don't - makes me sound like I'm always drinking 🙈🤣

ThisHangryTiger · 07/06/2025 07:57

Pretty sure I'm 11 DPO today, been testing the last few days, all to a BPN 😢 had cramps on Thursday and AF is due today so now just waiting. Pretty sure I'm out this month. TTC#1, 39.5 yo, cycle #7, CP last month.

Muddysocks1 · 07/06/2025 07:58

Do I tested again this morning and can barely see anything. I do know that when I had my chemical cycle, there was a couple of days of squinters that came and went before a clearer Bfp afternoon of DPO. So whether it’s already an early chemical, or it’s just very low hcg fluctuating I don’t know. I did read before that hcg fluctuates through the day and so that’s another reason the darkness varies but maybe that’s why sometimes early lines appear and disappear? Guarding my heart now that it’s not going to be anything

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 07:58

@NavigatingLife personally I would drink. Enjoy the night! Plenty of time to not drink when you are pregnant. A couple of glasses won’t affect anything at all. You may take months to get pregnant you can’t put your life on hold. The doctor said to me that a few drinks a week is fine anyway!

ThisHangryTiger · 07/06/2025 07:59

@NavigatingLife you could say you're trying to be healthier, or up quite early and drink makes you not sleep well? Or just you don't really feel like it.

laurajane07 · 07/06/2025 07:59

@Muddysocks1got everything crossed for you 🤞

Muddysocks1 · 07/06/2025 08:01

Also just on the miscarriage investigations thing - I was listening to prof Shehata on a podcast this week who was saying you should actually be seen after second miscarriage, or first if it wasn’t an early one, but unfortunately it’s often 3 miscarriages for recurrent miscarriage clinics, but that doesn’t mean your gp shouldn’t do tests or further investigations before then.
interesting they had two specialists on and both gave different reviews on progesterone and DNA fragmentation, so it’s hard to know what to believe! It’s the latest two episodes of “don’t tell me to relax” x

This! I’ve said I’m trying to lose weight/be healthier, I think the habits around drinking are changing anyway. With closer friends I’ve just said we’re TTC so I’ve cut down on alcohol

NavigatingLife · 07/06/2025 08:03

@ThisHangryTiger@Thisisouryear2025very true thanks, can't put life on hold too much!

@Muddysocks1ddon't they say it takes 48 hours or so to double so maybe that's why it's still light?

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 08:04

@Muddysocks1 really interesting what you say, I’ve just started a new fertility podcast. Really really interesting hearing what they say and also how they admit there is so much they actually don’t know!

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 08:07

@Muddysocks1 I’m really interested to know when the right time is to see someone about chemicals, I’ve had two over the past 3 years, albeit different partners. I’ve read that they are soooo common and most of us don’t know we’ve had one… but if we are supposed to see someone after your first or second loss yet chemicals are so common surely everyone would be in a clinic for miscarriage? How do they define when you need to be seen or not? I’ve never had a proper miscarriage past 5 weeks so I don’t know much about it but I guess as I’m older it does worry me a bit

It’s tricky. The doctor on the podcast essentially said chemicals are common due to chromosomal reasons and it’s just bad luck if you have one, maybe if you have two, but if you’ve had more than that is less likely to just be bad luck and more likely to be something that could be addressed.

GP could do blood tests, ultrasound, you could privately do microbiome testing (I have), I’d probably look at some private investigations if GP not willing (or see a diff GP!). I had over a year TTC so technically infertile and one chemical, GP did some tests but I did a private consultations and ultrasound and trying progesterone, plus did vaginal Microbiome and needed antibiotics. The podcasts are good for highlighting possible issues that can be investigated cx

peanutForever · 07/06/2025 08:38

@NavigatingLifejust say you have a horrid headache and dont want to feel hungover or that you already overdid it on the wine last night, then take a few sips to show you arent pregnant

it depends on your drs as my referral got declined as i havent had three in a row (ds inbetween) however ive had all the bloods and its been agreed il be sent straight to epu & prescribed prog etc as soon as i get a positive.

Some clinics wont consider a chemical a mc if no heartbeat was seen either or some drs will just push for you to keep trying depending on age etc,Honestly you wont know until you ask really! Its better to so they have a record of things should you ever need to go back :)

Also all those with chemicals did you know that 3/4 of miscarriages are actually the sperms fault? we could have the healthiest of eggs but if its fertilised by a bad sperm theres not much chance of it progressing so we need to stop beating ourselves up about it x

peanutForever · 07/06/2025 08:42

Also stress can deplete progesterone, thyroid function affects implantation, microbiome, so many factors. DH is a smoker and it was automatically suggested that could be the blame for my MCs without SA however i have had all my life hormonal issues, and i was given prog/aspirin as a back up plan, but really and truely it could have been him- i also never took care of myself at the time didnt know what prenatals were etc...we live such a diff lifestyle now!

@Muddysocks1i am sorry thats so deflating, i wish you had the reassurance but yes test again tomorrow hopefully that line will be stronger, got my fingers and toes crossed for you x

This is really good advice and true!

thank you, keeping my fingers crossed and we’ll see 🤞🏻 xx

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 08:57

@Muddysocks1 I guess then I’d have to see if I have another with my current partner. I really hope not! I had an ultrasound 2 years back, after the first chemical and the specialist was really happy with my lining and ovaries and said that there was at any issues there so I am hoping nothing has changed. How did you get your microbiome tested? Who did you use? I’ve heard lots about this and I have bought some decent probiotics to help gut an vaginal
health, but I don’t have any symptoms of anything going on? Did you have any symptoms? I’m currently 6 months down and partly I am calm enough to know it may just take the full year but on the flip side I worry xx

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 08:59

@peanutForever have you conceived now? What changes did you make? We are both healthy people and tests have come back good so I am just confused but I guess 6 months isn’t that long and I need to give it a year. I’m interested in a microbiome tested though.

@Muddysocks1 praying your test gets darker 🩷🩷🩷

I really recommend vaginal Microbiome, I had no symptoms but had an imbalance of a bacteria that affects fertility and miscarriage. I had a week of antibiotics and using ongoing probiotics. I used Daye, it’s £99 (I think I can give a referral code that’s 20% off too), or there’s screen me and invivo but I’m not sure if you can do them yourself or if it is has to be through a practitioner (eg. Acupuncturist). With daye you just wear a tampon and send it back in the post, really easy.
also if you have an imbalance your partner probably does too as it’s passed sexually, and seminal microbiome imbalances can also cause issues (eg. I read the one I have can affect sperm morphology, which was slightly low on my husbands test), so you both need to be treated with a course of antibiotics to stop passing it back

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 09:07

@Ec2808 hey lovely, sorry you are feeling rubbish. Maybe for this cycle just put the tests aside and wait for AF to show or not. It’s so soul destroying and symptom spotting and testing early only hurts us if it’s not what we want. If you have symptoms associated to pregnancy there would be a line by now, I did think there was a line on your second FRER but not on this one. Have you got any more FRERs? Maybe just do one more to be sure and then allow your mind to rest about it now for your own sanity x

Ec2808 · 07/06/2025 09:09

@Thisisouryear2025no i dont have any more 😔😔 just soo sad and soo hatd to except that this is still not our month 😔 but thank you ❤️

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 09:09

@Muddysocks1 wow that’s crazy! Yeah I think I do want to do that, where did you get the antibiotics from when the tests came back? Il defo do that and if you have a referral code that would be amazing please. I guess it’s worth a shot xx

Thisisouryear2025 · 07/06/2025 09:13

@Ec2808 I know what you mean, I’m trying so hard to write off the month but something inside still tells me to hold out hope. Even though I know it’s not our month. It is so sad 🩷

Ec2808 · 07/06/2025 09:13

@Thisisouryear2025sending you lots of hugs! ❤️❤️
