Hey everyone! After 4 years we've decided to try for baby no 2! But it feels like such a long time ago now, I can hardly remember the ttc processBlush anyway, finished my lmp a couple of days ago and started ovulation testing! Wondering if anyone's in the same boat this month? Hoping for an April '15 baba!:)

@InvisibleDragon good luck to you. Our first took 19months....he is now 18 months and we are TTC2 5 months in. I'm feeling frustrated and fed up already.

@Blue2020 yes the darker line is the control line, I didn't say it was positive just that it was the darkest line I've ever had.
This was around 2pm and I forgot to do another around 8pm to check if it was getting darker or lighter...I think my window of actually getting a "positive" on a opk is very small cause I was testing twice a day for a bit when TTC my first. We dtd on a day I got a fainter line than this, it never got any darker and we got pregnant.. so I clearly missed the peak on the tests.

Hi Skater. Don’t be disheartened by this. I used to hardly ever catch my surge (even testing twice a day during predicted ovulation) and the line being the same colour as the control line was pretty non-existent but we were very lucky when it came to conceiving our first in terms of it taking us little time. I too used to have a very short LH surge. It seems a bit longer now I’m older for some reason.

Blue2020 · 13/07/2024 07:16

@SkaterChick ah I see, sorry. I guess if they don’t work in catching the peak then it’s fine too, you got a bfp last time which is great news.

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 08:41

@Blue2020 it did take us a year. And I guess technically it's been over a year for us TTC the second, though most of it was unknown cause we thought we were on a contraceptive but turns out my coil perforated my womb and wasn't doing its job so I guess it must have been lack of sex thanks to the tiny human that stopped us getting pregnant 😅😂😂😂

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 08:42

@Zo85 it's crazy how hard it is to catch the surge! At least I know from my symptoms and such that my ovulation is imminent! It took me a long time to be ready to TTC a second and now we're trying I'm super impatient 😂😂

Cd 10 for me.... waiting for the flashing smiley to appear on my CB ovulation tests! Got news back yesterday that my last loss was due to trisomy 15 (one of the slightly more rare chromosomal abnormalities), so because of the recurring losses me and my partner have to go for blood tests to check we aren't carriers. Tests are Tuesday but it takes 8-10 weeks for the results and i don't want to wait to keep trying because it takes us quite a long time to get pregnant!

Hi Moosey. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss and the news you’ve received.

Blue2020 · 13/07/2024 10:26

@moosey89 oh I’m sorry for your loss. Are you going to pause while you wait for the blood test? Is there any research on it, odds if it is genetic? Maybe researching it might help give you more knowledge in the meantime (or not it could do the opposite too).

Blue2020 · 13/07/2024 10:30

@SkaterChick oh wow. Will your womb just heal itself because it’s minor or did you need surgery to fix it?

Well hopefully you will get good news soon. I guess DTD every 2-3 days? I know it’s easier said than done. We have just started ttc number 2 and we are not doing it nearly as much as we need to. I use lh and then bbt to confirm it happened. Even with all that we only managed to dtd once just before ovulation this time.

PunchyLunchy · 13/07/2024 11:24

I’ve just had a bit of blood tinged discharge. Don’t know what to think. I’m ~7 DPO. Quietly optimistic.

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 14:19

@Blue2020 so the hole in my womb has healed but there is a small star like scar at the back so when we do get pregnant I have to make sure my midwife and consultant know as that can put me at A "higher risk" for c sec apparently...
I needed keyhole surgery to remove it, had 3 incisions and needed to wait 2 cycles before ttc
Apparently I should have been informed that breastfeeding means it's more likely to happen when they put it in but they didn't 🙄

Blue2020 · 13/07/2024 14:27

@SkaterChick thats good it’s healed. That makes sense though keeping an eye on it when you get pregnant.

Zo85 · 13/07/2024 14:46

Hi ladies. Been reading a lot about fertility and the menstrual cycle recently and I’m determined to not test until I miss a period by a couple of days this time round. Well, I will really, really try anyway! I need to remember that there’s not much point in symptom spotting in the luteal phase of my cycle post ovulation as the increase in progesterone (obviously “pro gestation”) makes our body think it’s pregnant so the symptoms are the same or very similar, regardless of whether I’m pregnant or not. I drove myself potty with my first pregnancy after having a very early positive test. It was the longest wait until missing my period and I was convinced it was going to arrive. That stress was definitely not conducive to a sticky embryo! Just wanted to share in case anyone else finds the whole symptom spotting and early testing really anxiety inducing. I am however going to do the things I enjoy that might help a pregnancy stick: relaxation, cooking and eating delicious but still healthy food, gentle exercise, reading…

Zo85 · 13/07/2024 14:49

As a PS to the above: I know some test early to kind of come to terms with them not being pregnant sooner rather than later - after the anticipation of waiting for their period. I guess it comes down to knowing what’s best for us personally.

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 17:05

So, did another opk today just to compare to yesterday's and I was really surprised by this!
Is this considered positive/peak? I've never actually seen one IRL as my previous was the darkest line I'd ever gotten.
Anyway, it's clearly darker than yesterday so even it's it's not positive it would indicate my ovulation is imminent/just passed?
I'm cd15, I had ewcm cd 12/13/14
We dtd cd14 so I'm hoping that's enough this month cause we have family visiting and definitely won't get the chance today or tomorrow 😭

I would say this is definitely a positive, you will most likely ovulate in the next 24-48 hours if this is your first positive

Moomoo20 · 13/07/2024 17:25

Husband is giving us until the end of the year to fall pregnant and he said that's it! He will be 40 next year and says the end of this year is our cut off (which tbf I kinda agree with. We have ttc 7 months and I'm feeling the pressure now arghhhh!!!

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 17:33

@Moomoo20
Guess I tested at the right time 😅 let's pray yesterday was enough and hopefully I get ovulation pains sooner than later 😅😂😂
Gosh that's a lot of pressure for the next 6m... I feel you though. I wanted to be done with kids by 35.... Im 34 and 3months 😅

SkaterChick · 13/07/2024 19:53

As you get closer to the peak opk lines get darker? Oh the other side of the peak do they get lighter and lighter again?
Im wondering as I've obvs had that bear positive opk this afternoon but this evening in having what feels like ovulation pains.
It's not a bad thing as we're going to have the chance to dtd again for a few days so if I am ovulating today it puts me at better odds?

I just saw the test you posted yesterday which wasn't a peak but today's one definitely is, which means your opks will probably be dark for the next day or 2. Then they start to lighten up again. It can take 1-2 days to ovulate after your first peak so best bet is to dtd the next 2 days if you can.
This month I tested an opk in the morning and it was a negative, then got a positive in the evening so I was glad I tested twice that day 😅

I need to remember this come my tww this cycle. I started testing from 7dpo last month. Not helpful at all and definitely just drained me. Saving the tests for when premom advises to test which I think is 1 day before AF is due. May even hold out an extra day. Good ideas to keep you distracted!

SkaterChick · 14/07/2024 17:27

Safe to say cd15 was deffo a peak, we dtd cd14, I didn't test later on cd14 as I forgot 😂 but I've had ovulation pains last night and this morning so fingers crossed that was enough 😂

Well they say sperm can live in us for up to 5 days so fingers crossed for you. I'm 9 dpo, period due Thursday and I've had a bit cramping today, think I have the start of period belly 😡.
