@Angelselevenx out of interest have you ever been tested for PCOS? I only ask because a high AMH / ovarian reserve can be an indication of pcos, and you said you ovulate relatively late in the month which can also be another sign!

@riverlodge90 afraid I don’t have any experience with FSH tests - do you know what unit the test was in? 8 seems low to me? I did a Hertility day 3 test (a while ago now) and it said a normal range for Day 3 was 3.5-12.5 IU/L but maybe that’s a different measurement! If you read the book It Starts With The Egg there are lots of suggestions of supplements in there to help with how to increase egg quality / quantity. I also think it’s worth asking for an AMH test as that is apparently a better indicator of egg reserve…

Angelselevenx · 09/01/2024 10:47

@hopingforapeainapod I haven't, but I spoke to a doctor who said because I ovulate on time and have regular cycles to not be concerned. It's called PCO if you have high egg reserve but regular cycles, apparently it only becomes an issue when you have PCOS (the syndrome part) as that's when you have lack of ovulation/irregular cycles x

Angelselevenx · 09/01/2024 10:51

@riverlodge90 it was hertility, which I just done at home via a finger prick test and it seems really useful!

AMH is egg count and egg reserve so it's positive mines on the higher side. I didn't think LH was egg reserve, LH is the luteinizing hormone but I could be wrong!

I didn't realise 2.5 was recommended for TTC for TSH, so mines on the lower side. I wonder how I bring that up 😂

riverlodge90 · 09/01/2024 12:40

@hopingforapeainapod thank you! I have the book and have reordered more Coq10, as I think I was taking too low of a dose previously.
The healthy levels I've attached picture of, as I'm 30 it should be under 7, most likely 6.5. My result of 8 puts me at average egg reserve age of 37/38. I think the reason for the cut off with the NHS being 8.9 is because by that point your egg reserve is that of someone 41, which is the age cut off regardless.

@Angelselevenx interesting I will look into that! I've just ordered an AMH test to see what that says too.

You want you TSH low ideally around 1 but defo under 2.5. So yours being around 1.3 is perfect 🤗

LH should be around the same as your FSH, if not slightly lower. LH being higher than FSH indicates PCOS.

Honestly I've spent the last 12 hours rapidly googling and trying to come to some logically normal conclusion rather than times running out for me and I've just turned 30. Men have the easier deal here 100% 😰😂

Angelselevenx · 09/01/2024 12:52

@riverlodge90 keep me updated on your Amh test!

God to know about TSH!

That's interesting about the LH/FSH ratio. I'll definitely discuss it at the fertility appointment, I do find that the normal doctor just shrugs it off and doesn't really care 😂.

Does PCOS only become an issue when there is lack of ovulation?

I'm 30 next month so don't worry I know exactly how you feel. This year will be our year though! 🤞🏼

hopingforapeainapod · 09/01/2024 13:39

@Angelselevenx ah okay I understand - I also have polycystic ovaries (diagnosed on ultrasound) but like you they said as I am having regular cycles / ovulating I don’t qualify for PCOS. It’s all quite confusing! I had wondered though whether I might have PCOS as I still struggle with hormonal spots but I have no other symptoms!

hopingforapeainapod · 09/01/2024 13:41

A friend of mine also just announced her pregnancy (they are relentless at the moment) and so am feeling really, really low today :( just had a quick cry on the phone to my mum lol but I am really, really so over this ttc business! I just don’t understand how so many people find it so easy and why my body just won’t do what it’s supposed to!

Angelselevenx · 09/01/2024 13:42

@hopingforapeainapod yeah I think I'm the same, regular cycles/regular ovulation and bbt rises to confirm etc. I also get hormonal spots around time of the month (still battling those on CD8 now)

Doesn't PCOS only become an issue/cause infertility when there is lack of ovulation? Trying to stop myself from worrying here 😂

riverlodge90 · 09/01/2024 16:09

@hopingforapeainapod ohhh same I feel you here! My close friend has announced she's due in July, second baby. Both conceived first try. Not her fault but makes me want to scream. You have my absolute sympathy at having a cry over it and I hope you can have a nice treat of some sort to feel better tonight?

hopingforapeainapod · 09/01/2024 16:28

@Angelselevenx no don’t worry I think you’re right I think PCOS is only a problem if you’re not ovulating / ovulating irregularly! I know some people who have PCOS who are also prescribed progesterone as I think low progesterone is common with PCOS. The hormonal spots are so annoying aren’t they! I feel like I have tried everything and all the stuff that really works (eg contraceptive pill, tretinoin, roaccutane etc) is off the cards when ttc!

@riverlodge90 it’s so bittersweet. Obviously I am so happy for all my friends but it just really gets to me and then I feel guilty for feeling unhappy and I just feel worse! It just also feels really lonely because I feel like no one understands - I’m only 30 so all my friends are either falling pregnant at the drop of a hat or single and loving life and not at the trying stage!

MrBigsCat · 10/01/2024 07:21

6dpo today
sitting on my hands not to test 🤣
will hold out till weekend!!

Angelselevenx · 10/01/2024 07:27

@hopingforapeainapod ah okay phew, I did think so! But I guess it could still play silly buggers with your hormones? I might see if I can have all my levels tested again at my clinic appt just to see if they've changed from when I did them with Hertility last year. Did they test all of yours?

Do you think you'll give letrozole a go?

Oh the worst!! And they're so painful aren't they, I started a new skin care routine (new year new me) and it caused me to break out even more so I scrapped that 😂

CD9 now, 6 days to go until fertile week. Going to try conceive plus lube this time 🤞🏼

Angelselevenx · 10/01/2024 09:37

Those with lower progesterone, have you tried progessence plus essential oil? It's expensive but the positive stories are endless online!

@hopingforapeainapod

hopingforapeainapod · 10/01/2024 10:12

@Angelselevenx no they didn’t - I had a day 21 progesterone test and an AMH test but I’ve never had day 3 bloods which I think is a bit weird (I’m a bit cynical and think doctors are too quick to give you the unexplained label and don’t investigate thoroughly enough). I’m wondering whether to do a day 3 Hertility test as I have heard good things.

I’m really not sure whether to try Letrozole or not. It’s quite expensive at my clinic (they insist on scanning you lots) so it’s £750 a month (!) My DH thinks it’s a lot of money to pay when all signs (LH, BBT, progesterone etc) suggest I’m already ovulating, and I’m also worried that the problem might be elsewhere and we just haven’t found it yet? I’m also still wondering whether my progesterone is dropping off too early which is causing the spotting - I have quite a stressful job and had a very stressful year last year with a nightmare house move that dragged on and on and apparently cortisol can eat up progesterone so who knows?! I was also on the contraceptive pill for a long time (12+ years) and I wonder whether that’s made a difference to my hormones. My mum struggled to get pregnant with me and then had progesterone supplementation and fell pregnant straight away so she’s convinced I should give that a go but for some reason doctors seem very reluctant to prescribe it here?

I just looked at the progessence plus essential oil (never heard of this before!) and I agree the reviews do look really good! Best of luck with the conceive plus lube - I have used preseed before which is basically the same thing and although I haven’t had any luck with it I know lots of people who have x

Angelselevenx · 10/01/2024 10:17

@hopingforapeainapod I agree with doctors brushing you off very quickly. I liked the Hertility test, it was quick and easy and they do offer a consultation appointment to run through your results if you want it (think it's £70).

Wow that's so expensive. Is your clinic private as opposed to being referred through the NHS? I think they would've found an issue by now surely, if they've done all the normal investigations. I think that's why I spot, with the early spotting from 8dpo before, I remember the two months I was spotting I was seed cycling (another thing I've tried lol) but it made me spot early so I stopped that as well. I think letrozole has added progesterone in doesn't it? I swear I've read that somewhere but I agree they are reluctant to prescribe it.

I've just ordered the progessence, willing to try anything to boost my progesterone naturally. I've tried preseed as well but didn't have any luck either, giving conceive plus a go as a last shot I think 😂 x

hopingforapeainapod · 10/01/2024 10:54

@Angelselevenx yes it’s a private clinic - unfortunately because I am unexplained I don’t qualify for anything on the NHS. If there were any signs I wasn’t ovulating I could ask my GP for Letrozole. I would honestly actually much rather a diagnosis at this point - in some ways it would be so much more straightforward, and I wouldn’t have to pay through the nose on what is effectively a bit of a gamble!

The thing is the basic tests are actually relatively limited - there’s so many other things I haven’t had tested eg prolactin, testosterone, semen dna fragmentation, semen culture, vaginal microbiome, endometriosis, endometritis - it’s honestly such a minefield! As most problems ultimately lead to IVF I feel like most clinics just push you to do IVF anyway…

hogwartsdropout1 · 10/01/2024 11:16

Hi everyone! First time poster here and sending everyone all the luck 🤞🙌

I'm 35, been ttc for about 2 years now so we decided to go private in October

I had a HyCoSy in October (v uncomfortable, but as a previous poster mentioned i would recommend it!) and start taking Letrozole that cycle. This ended in a bfn

In November I took Letrozole, the Ovitrelle injection, 3x Progynova & 1x Cyclogest passerie a day for 14 days as my lining was 5mm which the Dr felt meant that my progesterone was low.

Novembers cycle didn't stick so took Letrozole again in December and when I went for the pre-ovulation scan we saw that my lining was 6.2mm which was still under the ideal so the Progynova was increased to 5x a day and the Cyclogest to 2x a day; alongside the Ovitrelle injection.

I took a test on Sunday which was CD28 and that was negative so booked a follow up scan for yesterday to see what my lining was looking like after we increased the Cyclogest and Progynova to the max.

Woke up yesterday and thought, let's take another test before the appointment to make sure, and it was the faintest positive 😮 ..went to my appointment as normal as I'm now overly cautious.. the ultrasound showed that my lining is currently 10.2 which is good and means pregnancy is possible and we also saw 2 round sacs on the screen too - the doctor said these sacs could be anything - blood vessels, or twins and it's far too early to know for certain. So he gave me another 2 weeks of Cyclogest to take 2x a day to keep the lining up, but recommended I take another test on Saturday - if it's positive continue with Cyclogest and book a scan after the 2 weeks is done, if it's negative to stop taking Cyclogest and wait for my period to come.

Well impatient me, took a test this morning which was negative 🫣. I think I'll wait out and take another one on Saturday and pray for the best but plan for the worst 😬

MrBigsCat · 10/01/2024 14:18

What a rollercoaster @hogwartsdropout1
good that your lining is nice a thick though.

@hogwartsdropout1

Wow what a change of emotions over the past few weeks! Hopefully a good outcome for you x

hogwartsdropout1 · 10/01/2024 19:34

It's definitely a journey for everyone isn't it! Hoping for the best outcome for you all too! 🤞🙏

Elisabeth3468 · 10/01/2024 19:47

Joining here! Period due Monday I think and then will be onto cycle 9 ttc baby 2

hopingforapeainapod · 10/01/2024 21:38

@hogwartsdropout1 does sound like a complete emotional rollercoaster!! Really hope it works out for you 🤞🤞🤞

hopingforapeainapod · 11/01/2024 17:05

How are people getting on? I had some spotting yesterday (7DPO) but then nothing today. I often have this during the month and I always get my hope up that it’s implantation bleeding and then I always get a bfn!

Angelselevenx · 11/01/2024 20:26

@hopingforapeainapod fingers crossed! Will you be testing early? When is AF due?

I'm not due to O until CD19 which is not until 20th January so got ages yet x

hogwartsdropout1 · 11/01/2024 20:29

@hopingforapeainapod it's so frustrating isn't it. Have you been to have your uterine lining checked? I get spotting for a couple of days before my period and that was my issue apparently. Praying it was implantation bleeding for you though!

I'm still (im)patiently waiting around
