TWW and symptoms

I tell myself every month I will wait for my missed period before taking a test and I will not symptom spot because it just always ends in tears. Yet here I am again and after scrolling through many other people's threads, I'm now starting one of my own. So we have been ttc for well over a year now, I had depo out last August.

I'm now 10dpo. I had some bleeding (just a wipe on 5po and enough for a panty liner but not full on 6po - sorry for tmi). I've got a reallt sore throat and my joints having been aching for about a weak, especially my right knee. I've been feeling a bit dizzy and have had lower back pain and cramps. Tested last night (9dpo) and this morning and both stark bfn. I guess I just want to know if this points in the direction of maybe bfp or if I should go to drs. I'm hoping to find some people in the same boat!

Hey @Beccylou94 - I’m not sure I can be much help other than to say I’m in the exact same boat: 10dpo, been ttc for a year, had some very light spotting 6dpo and am also desperately trying to hold out from testing (period isn’t due until Tuesday I think) 😬it’s so hard not to symptom spot! I’ve read lots of threads where people don’t get their first bfp until 14dpo or even later, so I guess you’re not out until your period arrives?! Lots of illnesses and bugs going round though so if you still feel rough may be worth going to the doctors anyway…?

PinkRoses1245 · 19/10/2023 10:18

Not much to suggest but just to say I only got a BFP 14dpo, the day AF due. And no symptoms until following week. Sounds like you are under the weather anyway, can you take some time off to recover, eat lots of fruit and veg etc. If it's been over a year, I'd contact the GP to discuss.

hotcandle · 19/10/2023 10:54

If your hcg is strong enough to cause symptoms, then it's strong enough for a positive test.

I only got my positive on the day of my missed period, and even then, it was hard to see. I had no symptoms apart from a missed period.

I can completely empathise with you, OP. I was in your position, too. I would recommend you stop reading threads about others' experiences.

Don't leave yourself in tears every month.

Hello, just jumping on to say i am in the same boat too.
Had a miscarriage nearly a month ago now which was a complete miscarriage, bled for 6 days and then ultrasound confirmed all pregnancy tissue was gone.

Did OPK and peaked a couple of days ago, currently in the TWW. Over analysing every single symptom and trying to teach myself some patience!!

Sending hope to you all for those positive tests soon xx

rainbow616 · 19/10/2023 11:05

Hey, agree with another comment- if you're having symptoms you would be testing positive. Honestly, me and my husband tried for 2 1/2 years for our second and had two miscarriages and an ectopic during that time. I was obsessed with taking tests (way too early) and looking into every little symptom, and every month I would think I had symptoms relating to pregnancy, and then I would get a negative result. All of the hours I spent looking into symptoms and googling and tests made the fall after a negative that much harder and it really messed with me. I hope you don't think I'm being rude, but I wish someone had said this to me when we were trying! I really, really hope that you get that positive! Good luck x

5rosebud · 19/10/2023 11:21

Hello, I am also in the TWW following a miscarriage in August and I am so anxious. This was the first time since trying since the miscarriage due to my period being irregular. I said I wouldn't test until way after my missed period but here I am testing 5 days early when obviously it says negative. Never thought I'd be like this having got so easily pregnant with my first child :(

Beccylou94 · 19/10/2023 12:28

@Goldendoodlelover thanks for the post. Yes I guess you aren't out until af arrives. I don't know about anyone else but whenever I go to the dr I always get 'could you be pregnant, are you sure, wqit a week take a test then call back'

@PinkRoses1245 if only I could take some time off!

OP posts:
Beccylou94 · 19/10/2023 12:30

@hotcandle is that true with the if hcg is strong enough for symptoms then should be strong enough for test? Because with my first pregnancy I felt under the weather for 3 weeks at least and went to dr and they said test again in a few days at least twice before I got my bfp

Beccylou94 · 19/10/2023 12:31

@tlw14 sorry to hear that. Sending positive wishes your way x

@5rosebud I'm in the same boat. Got pregnant within a month of trying with first baby.

@beccylou Yes, it's true. If you felt under the weather, it was likely due to actually being unwell, but not pregnancy related.

I think it's easy to forget that even in your tww you can still get sick from virus' and colds etc. Also, maybe you just have a sore knee.

Ems1992 · 19/10/2023 13:20

No it isn’t true.
A change in hormones due to pregnancy (not just hcg) can give you symptoms. You will also experience a rise in progesterone (this hormone is also responsible for stopping your period from coming) which is also linked to nausea, tiredness and sore breasts. (although this is the same with a period also, some people don’t experience noticeable changes so if you are noticing more it could be indicative of pregnancy) With every one of my pregnancies (4) I have felt symptoms before getting my positive.
Good luck x

Yes I thought this was the case. Thank you x

Hi
Just jumping on

I'm in the same boat and totally new to this TTC business as with my other children.. I didn't necessarily try.

I'm 9DPO or there abouts (i think) and I'm driving myself doolally. I want to test every time I go for a wee..I think I feel sick, or I actually do feel sick, I need to wee more or am I just anxious? I was incredibly bloated and gassy, not in the normal for me. Just odd little bits I'm not used to but maybe I have overlooked in the past? I've tested, and I know it's early but obviously BFN.

However today, I have had unusual period pains, and I am not due on until the 26th (my birthday). Would be the best present ever finding a BFP.

I'm not sure what the point in this post was but I just don't want to feel alone in the 2WW anymore!

Baby dust to you all x

It's so hard isn't it? Symptom spotting and wanting to test. I'm now 12dpo and still bfn so losing hope for this month. Another month of a disappointing end. All the baby dust to you, keep us updated! X

It really is and I can't shift this obsessive compulsive feeling the need tontest every time I wee like it's going to make much of a difference.

I'm 10DPO today so still holding onto hope. I did a clear blue uktra early digital that said not pregnant but I did it this afternoon after drinking lots of water amd instructions state to do the opposite of this 🙊

I'm going to test in the morning and if it's a BFN I will await AF and be better prepared for my next cycle!

All the baby dust to you, too xx

TrishyLou1111 · 21/10/2023 17:09

@Beccylou94 I was meant to tag you in above response xx

TrishyLou1111 · 21/10/2023 17:12

I would also just like to add that you can have symptoms before HGC is detectable in urine :) xx

Goldendoodlelover · 21/10/2023 18:12

That’s rather frustrating from your doctor! I’m also 12dpo - took a first response yesterday which was negative and am now just trying to hold out until my period comes next week rather than waste money on more tests but it’s so hard :/ I’ve never been pregnant before and it’s so hard to downplay the voices in my head telling me I never will be - weirdly once my period starts I at least get a little ‘boost’ that it’s a new cycle, new month, new chance to try again (and I try to read it as a sign my body is at least functioning properly on some level) but I really really do hate the wait for af. I’ve also come down with a cold so feeling extra sorry for myself right now 😂

Oh it's so hard isn't it? It like completely takes over. Best to stick to maximum one a day, they do say to wait a few days in between tests but I just can't. Oh no yep they say best to do first wee of the day don't they? Fingers crossed for you 🙏

Oh tell me about it. Tbf the last few years with drs have just made me lose faith in going which is sad. Not their fault they just have to rush you through and jump to quickest conclusions.

That's good if you can hold out. I'm glad that a new cycle gives you new hope that's so positive. It can be hard to ignore the voices in your head but I'm sure things will happen. Urgh yes I have a stinking cold too. Makes you just want to lounge about in bed doesn't it?

Hi @Beccylou94 - I know what you mean about doctors - it’s not their fault like you say, they are overworked and you never have enough time with them but it can also mean that you feel you are being dismissed, especially as a woman! I actually had meningitis when I was 19 and was repeatedly dismissed by my GP as just having freshers flu, and I always wonder if they would have tested me more seriously and realised just how ill I was if I hadn’t been young and female! How come your app has changed? I wouldn’t despair too much - sperm can live up to 5 days and I think pinpointing your ovulation day exactly is always guesswork - even if you get a positive opk that only suggests ovulation will happen in the next 12-48 days and then the egg can survive 12-24 hours again which actually gives you quite a large window?

Hi @SpreadBabydust2023 - the photos are quite blurry for me so I wouldn’t want to say! Do you know when you ovulated? You could always go to your gp and ask for a blood test? Fingers crossed it’s good news for you!! 🤞🤞
