Getting pregnant after a chemical pregnancy loss

NursePeach90 · 04/07/2023 16:26

Hi everyone. I'm TTC baby number 2.

Unfortunately I had a chemical pregnancy loss last week and started bleeding 5 days ago and it has pretty much stopped now. I've been very upset regarding this loss, but I want to get back to trying for baby 2 as I really want to become a mummy again.

Has anyone got any advice regarding trying again? Or positive conception stories after an early loss please?

Thanks so much
Lauren

Sorry you went through that Lauren. After both of my chemicals I managed to concieve the following cycle. I did read online that as your body is already geared up for a pregnancy, it is easier to fall pregnant but not sure how factual that is, it was the case in my experience. Good luck x

NursePeach90 · 04/07/2023 16:39

So sorry for your losses too. It's a very strange sense grief and sadness. But it's encouraging to know that you got pregnant during the next cycle. I hope I'm lucky too! Hope you've had successful pregnancies. All the best and thank you so much for your response. It's really appreciated x

Im sorry you had to go through that. I had 2 early losses in a row but got pregnant again 3rd cycle in a row and am now 32 weeks pregnant.

log51 · 04/07/2023 16:49

Hi Lauren, really sorry for your loss. I had a chemical pregnancy in December and conceived the next cycle and am currently 29 weeks pregnant :) with a very straightforward pregnancy!

PennyPenny1 · 04/07/2023 16:52

So sorry you're going through this, I had a chemical in March and got pregnant the following cycle and I'm now 17 weeks. I know how devastating it feels but I don't think there's any reason to hold off on trying next cycle if you feel ready to xx

RoseH36 · 04/07/2023 17:34

@NursePeach90 so sorry for your loss. I've just gone through the same thing. I'd only had a positive test 10 days beforehand. As it was so early I decided to count the loss as a cycle so tested as usual. I ovulate around the time I would if it had been a period and am back in the TWW.

Love seeing so many successful stories on here.

NursePeach90 · 04/07/2023 20:25

To each and every one of you, thank you for replying. I hope you all have healthy pregnancies. It's so lovely to hear your stories and that you're all pregnant with your rainbow babies. I hope this is me too. I'm not going to hold off trying. I will update this post when I hopefully have my rainbow baby x

Sorry for your loss Lauren, its really tough. Like others above I had an early chemical and got pregnant the next month, with a set of twins! Hang in there 🌈

RoseH36 · 05/07/2023 08:35

@NursePeach90 good luck! I think as long as you feel ready to try again then there's no harm in it.

@Bookbeb congratulations! Hope that's all going well for you. Seems quite common after a CP to be pregnant with twins. Wonder if our bodies release 2 eggs to compensate for one not working out.

Ella31 · 06/07/2023 14:54

Hi Lauren, i had a chemical in March. Tried straight away, ovulated a few weeks later and I'm now pregnant with twins, so it can happen. Wishing you the best of luck.

DHB · 06/07/2023 21:02

Hi Lauren,

Sorry to see you’ve gone through this as well :(

I had my chemical 19th June, bled for around 4 days and had my negative HCG on Tuesday just gone. Had some stitch type cramps all day Monday and some very light pink discharge a couple of times when wiping so I’m hoping I’ve perhaps ovulated as I’m not testing, I find it too stressful testing OPKs.

All the best for your rainbow, I’ll be on the journey with you 💗

NursePeach90 · 07/07/2023 06:46

Thank you to each and every one of you who has replied. I'm so sorry for all your losses, but so happy for you who have your rainbow babies baking in the oven! You've given me so much hope.

And to the ladies who are going to be on the TTC rainbow babies journey with me, good luck! I genuinely hope you'll update this thread when it happens. I'd love to hear your good news when it happens.

Sorry I probably wrote it wrong. I am pregnant. Conceived straight after my chemical. Currently 13 weeks with twins.

NursePeach90 · 24/07/2023 15:34

I've just got my positive on the month after my chemical. I'm so happy but it's still early days again, so very cautious. Any tips on how to ease my anxiety ladies? I really appreciate all your positive stories. You all gave me hope in such a dark time xx

@NursePeach90 tentative congratulations! Can I ask, did you count your chemical as a period and got pregnant when you ovulated after that or after your next full cycle?
I started using OPKs straight after the chemical, ovulated but didn't get pregnant.
Had a proper period since so back to testing and waiting for ovulation at the moment.

Bizjustgotreal · 24/07/2023 16:28

Congratulations 🎉 - keep us posted! Sorry I can't offer any advice on anxiety; I'll be watching the thread for advice myself as I'm currently TWW in hopefully the first cycle post early MC

DHB · 24/07/2023 17:16

@NursePeach90 Oh I’m so pleased to see your update! Congratulations and fingers crossed for a sticky one this time. No advice on the anxiety other than try to keep busy really :( xx

Congratulations 🎊 I've just found this thread as in a similar position to how you were on your original post so will be following along, it was much needed to read all these lovely ladies stories and that we are not alone ❤️

Thank you so much. Fingers crossed for me this time. Yes I counted my first day of bleeding as cycle day one. I used the clear blue advanced ovulation tests from CD 8. I got flashing high fertility from CD 11 and peak fertility on CD 16. Judging by this I ovulated on CD 16-17. Good luck and I really hope you get your sticky baby soon. Baby dust being sent your way xx

Had my daughter 19 years ago, had unexplained fertility ever since with 2 different partners, even saw fertility specialists who couldn't pin poont anything. Then during covid I was stressed and made the comment about there being a bit of a baby boom due to isolation, consultant colleague laughed and said "less moaning, you might be next, go put the kettle on". I took 3 steps out the room and realised my periods were late, then noticed my boobs were bigger so went next door to our Early pregnancy unit (I work in Fetal medicine) took a test and it came up straight away, scanned myself and was 4+3. He's 16 months now and a tornado of chaos despite the horrible subchorionic hematoma bleeds and severe hyperemisis (lost 9 stone through the puking, was awful). That same colleague performed my c section ironically.

When he was 5 months my period was late (despite being on the pill and breastfeeding) and the line came up right away, I was still on mat leave so couldn't be cheeky and scan this time. Started spotting a few says after I found out, the got heavier, trip to Epu confirmed chemical miscarriage unfortunately. Went back on the pill and next cycle fell pregnant again, she's 7 weeks now and that pregnancy was an absolute breeze apart from anxiety about any spotting starting, it never happened abd I sailed through it.

Tubes are clipped now, we've completed our family and with our history of fails on the pill, it was the safest option.

Don't give up hope OP, thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and hugs your way ❤️

RoseH36 · 24/07/2023 19:04

@NursePeach90 those are the ones I use too. I pinned too much hope on it happening straight away but guess it wasn't meant to be.

What a beautiful story. Thanks so much for sharing. It's difficult when anxiety raises its ugly head, but I believe in fate. I'm sure you do too now with your baby blessings xx
