HyCoSy

It's been recommended I have a HyCoSy, I went for a scan yesterday CD14 to check my follicles match my amh, and was told I've already ovulated this month. Now I'm worried with the bank hols next month I may not get in early enough in my cycle. My cycles are 31 days like clockwork and periods last 3-4 days, while you can earlier than day 1 of your cycle to book in orc leave it to chance and keep everything crossed?!
Anyone's experiences of the procedure would be good too. Thanks!

@cornflakes86 my friends partner had IVF but no HyCoSy, I guess it depends what the issue is & if there's a known one.

I'm due to have a HyCoSy and terrified as previously had Hysteroscopy which was the most horrific pain I've ever experienced (I cannot even put it into words... had a panic attack from the pain). My obsession to work out why the f it was so horrific for me but some women are fine made me come to the conclusion its because he used a tenaculum to 'clamp' my cervix. I don't think they do this unless it's needed, but when he said he needed to clamp it still that's when the pain happened. I would just make sure you aren't rushed and they explain FULLY what equipment they may use and specify no barbaric torturous tenaculum Angry good luck and bring someone with you to advocate for you in case you are in pain x

lollosmash · 12/05/2023 19:59

@Matildahoney did you manage to have your HyCoSy yet? Did it go ok?

I decided to go for it in the end, and had one today. I found it quite painful with strong cramping afterwards (but expected this because I've had similar reactions to having IUDs put in before).

Now I'm torn between the consultant saying "don't try to conceive this cycle, we don't know the effect of the dye on a pregnancy" and the document I was given by the clinic which says you can just crack on immediately. Nothing's ever simple 🤔

lollosmash · 12/05/2023 20:08

@Nolly1994 Hope your HyCoSy went ok too, and was tenaculum-free!

Matildahoney · 12/05/2023 20:57

@lollosmash I ended up not having it as I got my bfp last week! So in hoping for a sticky one this time.
When we were discussing it with our consultant she told us we could try in this cycle after the HyCoSy! So I'd go for it. Good luck! X

Congrats @Matildahoney on your BFP!

im jumping on this thread to ask- those of you who had cramping after the procedure, how long did it last?

im trying to get one booked and I have ONE potential day next cycle where I could have it done if my period starts when expected. Only thing is it would be the morning of the day we go to meet extended family for a long weekend away. Sitting in the car for a few hours, socialising later etc.

Any advice?! i really don’t want to miss another cycle.

MK85 · 05/06/2023 09:25

@Sierra26 I had extremely mild cramping for an hour or so then never really noticed it after that. I was fit to go shopping after the procedure. I did have some bleeding that lasted a few hours tho but nothing like a period just light bleeding .

ChateauProvence · 05/06/2023 09:26

Hi, I think I could have pushed through but tbh just felt worn out afterwards so stayed on the sofa for the afternoon

Matildahoney · 05/06/2023 11:46

Thank you @Sierra26
Good luck with your HyCoSy x

@Sierra26 I took more paracetemol immediately after the procedure and when they kicked in after about 20 mins, the cramps went and I was able to walk home.

However I also ended up staying in bed most of the rest of the day as I was pretty exhausted by it.

FiddleLeaf · 05/06/2023 20:11

I felt totally fine after mine @Sierra26 . Sadly no BFP for me yet but it was so reassuring to know everything’s ok in there!

Sierra26 · 05/06/2023 21:38

Thankyou everyone!

jessie92 · 13/06/2023 10:20

How's everyone on here doing? Congrats @Matildahoney !! 💛
8dpo for me the month after hycosy and I don't know when to test. The wait feels like ages but not ready to see another bfn either!

LizzeyBenett · 13/06/2023 11:04

Had a Hycosy 2 weeks ago no blockages 6dpo today and I'm convinced every twinge is something ... might lose my mind in this tww. 20 month ttc waiting on IVF fingers are crossed to say the least

jessie92 · 13/06/2023 11:36

All the best @LizzeyBenett !!!
the wait does feel like forever!
I was told the same month as hycosy the chances were much lower but that it goes up for the 3 months after. My temperatures were also all over the place last month and quite a few days of spotting after the procedure 💭
have you been trying to keep busy to keep your mind off the tww?

I'm trying my best to just ignore it as it the first month in a while where there has been hope I really thought there's no hope and just waiting for IVF now so the little bit of hope now is torture

jessie92 · 13/06/2023 12:27

Atleast the good weather is there to perk us up, wishing you all the best!
hoping ivf will not be needed for either of us 💛

Sierra26 · 13/06/2023 16:32

I’ve got mine booked for next week on the one day I should have stopped bleeding and before I go on hols.

even though I don’t want AF to start… if it does start I’m hoping it’s early or on time so I don’t have to wait another month for the test!

lollosmash · 13/06/2023 18:12

I didn't have any luck the first cycle after HyCoSy, crossing my fingers for the current one. I think last cycle the ovulation was from my dodgy ovary (has endometriotic cysts) because the consultant noted that it was enlarged during the scan before the HyCoSy. So am hoping this cycle might be a better chance... but also trying not to let myself get too carried away.

@LizzeyBenett totally agree that it's the hope that gets you. Crossing my fingers for you and @jessie92 !

Also hope the timing works out for you @Sierra26

Sierra26 · 22/06/2023 07:45

I’m off for my HyCoSy today, suddenly quite nervous!

MoreCheesePleaseAndThankyou · 04/07/2023 14:22

Just wondering how everyone’s HyCoSy went? I had mine yesterday and it was fine - briefly painful as she passed the catheter through my cervix and then felt nothing. Certainly a lot less worse than having the coil put in years ago. I felt fine afterwards and drove myself home. Got stuck in traffic and the cramping started - really bad actually, I almost felt nauseous with the pain. Popped 2x paracetamol and by the time I got home 20 mins later, totally fine. I wouldn’t worry about needing to go away the day after, if that’s on anyone’s mind. Expect a bit of a gunk exodus but nothing that period pants can’t cope with. leaflet says no issue ttc straight after. Sonographer says egg about to be released and ovulation tests agree.. here goes nothing 🤞🏼
love to hear how you all get on

ChateauProvence · 04/07/2023 15:54

Hi @MoreCheesePleaseAndThankyou i had my hycosy in April and started taking clomod in May - fell pregnant on my first cycle and am now 7 weeks. Wishing you all the best for this cycle x

vitahelp · 04/07/2023 16:28

Hi ladies, just checking in here as I had a Hycosy this cycle and currently 9dpo. It didn't actually go that well as they found one tube possibly blocked and a uterine polyp. but I'm still feeling more hopeful this cycle and major symptom spotting!
