Hi all,

Ive been TTC my first for 8 months following an ectopic pregnancy with no luck. Just had another unsuccessful month and feeling really motivated going into the New Year.

I’d love anyone’s tips for what has helped in the past/what you are doing to help you get pregnant.

Currently doing the following;

  • taking pregnacare pre conception (any tips for better prenatal vitamins?)
  • taking optibac for women (doctor recommended)
  • have had a HSG/blood testing done and all looks normal
  • tracking ovulation and hitting my fertile window (I have PCOS and a slightly irregular cycle so this is essential for me)

My doctor has prescribed me clomid but I am holding off on taking it - not sure why but will start in a month or two if nothing works!

@Bobshhh I feel there is a helpful way to say ‘relax’ and an unhelpful way. Saying ‘I did lots of yoga and walking to relax, and only had sex twice a week to take the pressure off’ is totally fine but saying ‘I downed a bottle of wine and got pregnant by accident, you should try it’ literally could not be less helpful!!!

Missionary position sex then lie with legs up for half an hour.

Work with gravity!

Orgasming makes your cervix scoop up the sperm so that really helps.

I got pregnant last month but unfortunately it ended in a chemical at 5 weeks.

  • Started having sex earlier, at CD 8, every other day until CD 18.
  • Legs in the air for 10 mins
  • Took seven seas fish oil (not cod liver oil which can be harmful)
  • Took folate instead of folic acid
  • Took high strength vitamin D, C, and zinc.

Doing the same again this month 🤞

I had a hycosy after a year and a half of trying and fell pregnant very quickly afterwards and twice more after that.

Have also heard good things about Pre-seed.

I think “to relax” really means when you don’t think about ttc, when your mind is busy with something else and your brain doesn’t think about ttc.
I know it’s hard and myself TTC number 2 for 2 years now. But every time I dtd, I feel I think about ttc.
Brain is a powerful tool, and sounds like stress can prevent of getting pregnant.
My friend tried to conceive for 5 years or so and decided to adopt, once she did it, she got pregnant. In her case, it sounded like every time she had sex, it was with a thought - ttc. But she adopted and her mind was busy with absolutely other things (adopted baby) and having sex she was very relaxed, not thinking anymore about ttc.
You can’t decide just not to think about ttc when you desperately want it. It really has to be something else that naturally occupies your mind and takes all TTC off your mind.
Wish you all to get that bfp.

Thinking about getting pregnant is not a contraceptive though 🤷🏻‍♀️ Like I said in an earlier post, I was entirely focussed on getting pregnant and it still happened. I really don't think it was your friend's desire for a baby that stopped her from having one.

We used the fertilily cup too. I took ovum supplements. I also took evening primrose oil and starflower but apparently you shouldn't take it all cycle long - I originally did take it all cycle but thankfully happened across a post on here and then looked into it further to see when to take it, when to stop etc. Dp was taking wellman conception. We both took an omega 3 too and used opks. I never managed to relax about it to be honest! Best of luck op. Lots of baby dust to you x

GingerFox2021 · 28/12/2022 20:32

I was just saying that when her mind stopped thinking of it, it helped. It’s not for everyone of course and what works for someone, doesn’t mean it will work for someone else.
i am very focused the last 2 years and still nothing 🤷‍♀️

flowerexpress · 28/12/2022 20:34

I personally also found the book "it starts with the egg" by Rebecca fett helpful and "trying to get pregnant and succeeding" by marissa peers. We also got a fertility mot because I just got so stressed about all the what ifs, which I did find helpful x

Bemyclementine · 28/12/2022 20:37

I'd been ttc for 2.5 years. The month I was successful we did cd 4 and 6. That's it.

Mommabear20 · 28/12/2022 20:42

Put a pillow under my butt/hips, with my feet up against the wall, straight after to get gravity on my side! 😂 not sure if it helped or not but it certainly gave DH some giggles! DTD every other day.

Longbin · 28/12/2022 20:48

I can't believe people honestly think relaxing helps to get pregnant and cannot see how that's very infuriating to hear.

I got pregnant through using clomid. I had no issues identified through numerous tests and neither did my partner.

I went on many holidays over the years, didn't track for the first year and was very relaxed, and nothing. The times I have conceived were through medication and a lot of stress.

I also used pre seed, a conception cup off Amazon, Mira tracker, Ava bracelet (both gave a different ovulation date the month I conceived), and had acupuncture.

I had previously used clearblue ovulation sticks and found some flashed positive under tap water after I read reviews off Amazon and tested it myself! I was taking prenatal vitamins throughout and using various fertility lubricants which didn't work, but I believe I wasn't ovulating despite my progesterone level looking as if I was.

MrsR87 · 28/12/2022 20:50

I would never say to relax because it’s not that easy and certainly won’t help for anyone with an underlying condition but with both of my babies, I conceived during school holidays (I’m a teacher) which is a time when I can literally feel my mind and body switch off and I am 100% less stressed…so whilst relaxing isn’t going to help anyone, especially when you’ve suffered loss, I think avoiding stress can be a factor.

We also did the sex every two days rule.

TheBirdintheCave · 28/12/2022 20:51

@GingerFox2021 I hope you get your baby soon ☺️

CockSpadget · 28/12/2022 20:51

Not RTFT so don’t know if it’s already been mentioned, but my German GP recommended taking Agnes Castus supplements, apparently they prescribe them to women over there to help regulate cycles and ease PMS symptoms, but it has the side affect of increasing fertility. Worked for me on my 2nd cycle after starting on them.

Superstorefan123 · 28/12/2022 22:40

@Longbin really interesting to hear about your clomid experience… I’ve been prescribed it by my doctor (I’ve put off starting until my partners sperm analysis comes back).

My BBT suggests I’m ovulating but like you I’m not sure (and get varying BBT sometimes). How did you find being on clomid? How quickly did it work? Thank you!

Weight loss for my wedding. I was so caught up in the wedding, I didn’t realise I was pregnant until too late. After the mc I needed a d&c. I fell pregnant v quickly, the next month.
I have PCOS and was told after years of trying, I’d need some assistance. It happened naturally.

Longbin · 28/12/2022 23:39

@Superstorefan123 it worked first month for me after 5 years of trying. I had my daughter through IVF beforehand and then fell pregnant again through IVF but miscarried, so I figured the issue might have been that there were actually no eggs being released. I then started trying to track my hormones more using Mira and they were just all over the place, but I think the monitor is also a bit unreliable! I wasn't prescribed clomid by the doctors though, they said as I was ovulating that it was too risky I would have multiples, and then another said it definitely wouldn't work so there was no point and that I should go straight back to IVF

Longbin · 28/12/2022 23:41

In terms of the timeline that was a bit unclear but it was 5 years in total including trying for my daughter. Took 3 years for her, then IVF, then no contraception for a year, then IVF, then another 9 ish months until I took the clomid... so a long time!

MattieandmummyandIs · 28/12/2022 23:46

I took vitabiotics pregnacare max, had a lot of sex, tracked ovulation and bbt and saw a nutritionist who suggested a load of supplements and diet changes which I followed. Happy to pass on her name if it helps.

I cut out caffeine and alcohol and so did my DH too, neither of us smoke so didn't need to cut that one out. Did some exercise but not crazy amounts. I'm not exactly a spring chicken so wanted to throw everything at it.
