Hi
I came off the pill in October and have been fairly regular since, with cycles of 31 days and 33 days. this time i am on day 36 and nothing. I did a pregnancy test on day 33 which after a couple of mins showed negative. when i looked at it a few hours later it had a positive result. i haven't done another one yet, as i don't feel pregnant, i don't have any of the symptoms they talk about? did anyone else have cycles like this after coming off the pill? the positive result is likely to be an evaporation line isn't it??

All tests go 'positive'(or at least look positive) after an hour or so, it is an evaporation line.

Thats why you should read the results at 5 minutes then bin them

Not that I do!!

Still, test again in a few days if you still havent come on.

CONGRATULATIONS!

As a frequenter of pregnancy tests (i have done a few positive ones in my time ) i think i can safely say you are pregnant!

KJ11 · 22/01/2008 11:00

It really seems to depend what you read doesn't some say you never get a negative positive and others say definite evap line - so confusing!!

My first cycle off pill was 39 days. Talking to ladies on here they can be screwed up for a good few months after stopping the pill.

I think a good test is the 'CB digital', takes the guesswork out of it, although they are expensive.

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:00

I have never had a negative turn positive. Go and get yourself a clear blue digital one, they are excellent.

Please come back and tell us!

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:01

Cp Shazza!

Shazza2002 · 22/01/2008 11:03

I'm only saying they're great cause I got a 'pregnant' 10DPO. Maybe if it had said 'Not Pregnant' I would say they're crap

KJ11 · 22/01/2008 11:03

I'll go get one at lunchtime then - does it matter when you do the CB Digital??

If I was I'd have symptoms wouldn't I??

Is that true Disenchanted? I have a friend who recently had the same experience and is very much preggers

Anyway, Dis, shouldn't you be hunting down a pair of earrings??

NatalieJane · 22/01/2008 11:04

I came off the pill in Jan 06, had a 25 day cycle, did HPT on day 25 of next cycle, and another on CD26...CD27 (you get the gist!) Finally got a BFP on CD35.

I hope it is a BFP for you (I tend to agree with LG&T, for 2 reasons, one is I have never seen a negative turn into a positive and it not be positive, and 2 because she will chase me with her handbag if I don't agree )

Walnutshell · 22/01/2008 11:05

No symptoms necessarily, is early days. I didn't have any that were particularly apparent.

Shazza2002 · 22/01/2008 11:05

Compared to your other cycles you are 'overdue' so I would think if you are the CB Digital would pick it up. Mine did 10DPO which is almost the same as testing 4 days before AF is due.

What time are you planning on having lunch, I'm interested now!!

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:06

I dont get any symptoms untill i'm about 6 weeks pregnant. Sometimes thrush but not always.

When is your lunchbreak? The test should work now if you are pregnant

KJ11 · 22/01/2008 11:07

i think ill pop out at 1 ish and ill let you all know the outcome!!!

Shazza2002 · 22/01/2008 11:08

Right what are we all going to do until 1 to pass the time. I normally have lunch at 12 so that's that hour gone. Now for the next 51 minutes

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:09

NJ i do not own a handbag i am too young

I o have a rather spectacular nappy bag from Cath Kidston though that will do the job marvellously

Shazza agin CP...are you in my head?

Minxy78 · 22/01/2008 11:10

Hi, I'm new on here and need some advice! We are trying for a baby and I have cycles of usually 32 days. My period was due last Tuesday (day 32) and I had cramps from Monday, which is normal for me. The cramps continued all week, but by Thursday (day 34) still nothing. Did a hpt which was negative. Period came the next day (35), but only lasted two days (when usually about four) and was very light on the second day. Since then I have had abdominal pains and a very bloated stomach along with a sickly feeling. Is it possible that I could be pregnant? Or am I just clutching at straws and trying to convince myself?! Thanks.

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:10

1 good grief i cant wait that long...

Shazza2002 · 22/01/2008 11:10

LG&T. I could be, although you could be in mine, there's plenty of space

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:12

Minxy get thee to the GP or phone the Early pregnancy Unit for advise. You could be pregnant, plenty of people have a period while pregnant.

KJ11 · 22/01/2008 11:14

Minxy - sounds like you are more likely to be, i only had stomach cramps around ovulation time and a few days later but nothing sicne - let me know!

Busy at work Shazza?

I am up to my eyeballs in erm... not a lot really. Have put the baby down for a sleep and the toddler is eating lunch. I am eating roll mops and drinking coke while MN ah heaven.

Shazza2002 · 22/01/2008 11:29

Busy doing nothing, now I'm sure nothing is on my task list

Problem is I should be very busy but MN is a nightmare.

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 11:35

MN is solely responsible for the neglect of my children, think that is worse than job neglect?

Minxy78 · 22/01/2008 11:39

LG&T and KJ11 - thanks, will buy another test today. Why would the first one be negative when my period was late though? Surely a positive result would have showed up by then? Sorry to sound a bit thick, but this is our first time!
