Hello all,

I am 33 and have a 5yo who we conceived naturally after 9m of trying. Have been trying for baby #2 for almost 3years now. After trying a year I was diagnosed with pcos. Since then I have been given clomid (6 unsuccessful rounds) and now on my first cycle of letrazole.

I am feeling really alone in all of this and losing hope. I have a supportive family and husband and friends but would love to chat to others in a similar position for support and understanding. So please comment if you would like this support too 💕

Hi there,

It can feel very lonely! I am ttc baby number one and have been for 8 months now.

Keep your chin up and dont lose hope 💙

Sparkledust1990 · 10/08/2022 23:08

Hi Dimps92

Thank you for your reply 💕. Trying for a baby can be a real emotional roller coaster can't it!?. I think the constantness of it all gets draining. We don't really get a break. Best of luck on your ttc journey x

I went I to early menopause soon after dd was born - was so upset as l was desperate to give her a sibling
She is 10 now - it took me a long time to accept thay she was going to be an only but she is a very happy child . Very upsetting though xx

YorkshireTeaCup · 10/08/2022 23:25

Just popped in to say good luck. I only have one daughter but i conceived her on my 3rd round of letrozole. Are you having trigger shots or monitoring? I needed the dose upped twice before it worked for me so make sure they are keeping an eye on the situation. Letrozole has better results than clomid and i was also older than you when i started so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you! Flowers

Roro1423 · 11/08/2022 08:54

Hi @Sparkledust1990 you are not alone, this journey can be emotionally draining at times but please dont lose hope. Been trying for our first for 2 years, currently on cycle 2 of letrozole no success yet. Also been diagnosed with PCOS. Sending you lots of baby dust🙏🙏

Sparkledust1990 · 11/08/2022 16:47

Hi Soproudofourlionesses,
Thank you for your message 💕. I imagine that was a difficult journey to go through. I am pleased your dd is happy and that you have found acceptance. Can I ask if there was anything in particular you did to support this?

Hello YorkshireTeaCup. Thank you for popping by and sharing your story. So nice to hear it can be successful. I have pretty much been left to it. No monitoring or trigger shots. They call me every 3 months to ask how I'm doing and upped my dose once (clomid). I had one scan but that didn't really tell them a lot, just that it looked OK (aside from my pcos!!!). I don't think that helps as I have no idea if it is working or not. I have had some positive opks but don't know whether to trust them or not as have heard medicine can give false positives. Just crossing my fingers.

Hi Roro1423, thank you for your message 💕. Have you had clomid before letrazole? Are you motored? And were you diagnosed recently? Sending you lots of support and best wishes as I can definitely understand how hard it is.

You are all fantastic. It really does mean a lot that you reached out to me 💐🤗

@Sparkledust1990 Thank you.🤗I was recently diagnosed back in May this year and we just started with letrozole right away and the crazy part is that i am not monitored so i wont even know if its working or not😔. we doing 4 cycles and i have to go back in if it didn't work. hoping i wont dont have to go back and i get my BFP this cycle🙏 Currently 1DPO cycle #2. have you ovulated yet this cycle?

Sparkledust1990 · 12/08/2022 22:29

Roro1423, It seems as though different counties have different levels of monitoring. Have you tried using at home ovulation tests? I never rely on them but do use them to give some insight into what might be happening. I have also asked for a repeat blood test (day 21 progesterone test) which they have agreed to but that came from me and not them, so that might be worth trying to ask for? Oh best of luck with the tww 🤞. It feels sooooo long! I've sadly just come on today so cycle 2 if letrazole coming up. I'm still trying to learn about pcos too. Going to try insitol this month. Take care, sending you loads of baby dust and good vibes ✌️ xx

@Sparkledust1990 yes, i have been using Ovulation tests as guideline. last cycle i started using OPKs late and missed my surge. This cycle tested early and got my peak CD12 on a CB Wednesday and i think i ovulated Thursday. M also still learning about PCOS, trying to eat right and exercise. M sorry last cycle was a bust, all the best with the new cycle 🤞 i saw great stories on here about insitol. Hope it works for you. 🙏Keep me updated, m interested to know when you get your peak. Are you taking letrozole CD3-7?.

Sparkledust1990 · 13/08/2022 10:14

That's great that you got your peak 🤗. Did you have peaks before the letrazole? Yes keep me updated in your wait too, got my fingers crossed for you 🤞. Last cycle I got mine on CD 15 and had a 30day cycle so I'm hopeful I am ovulating 🤞. I take it CD 2-6! I'll let you know about insitol- I've a feeling I am insulin resistant so seeing if it helps. Trying with the diet and exercise but it is harrrrrd! Will you be doing pregnancy tests or waiting to see if you're late? X

Roro1423 · 13/08/2022 12:30

I think some months my body would try to ovulate and i would get a peak and some cycle i didnt ovulate at all. My RE explained that my issue is that my PCOS is preventing follicles from growing and maturing to release egg cells, when they do release an egg its too small. Wow this is great i also took it 2-6😊 i asked about 3-7 because it seems like its common for everyone. M also on metformin 1000g but i heard inositol is more effective it will definitely help with your insulin 🤞🤞. M planning to wait till m late but i know m not that strong. I will probably start testing 10dpo. Girl!! Trying to loose weight is hard but with PCOS is even harder🙄 we got this we just need to keep pushing 💪💪.

Sparkledust1990 · 14/08/2022 11:13

I hadn't heard that about the size and egg. That makes sense as I always felt like my body got so far then it would stop as I used to see a lh increase but never got fully positive. I wonder why they suggest different days to take the tablets🤔? Yes, trying my best with diet and exercise but even harder in the summer🍦! What are you doing to help it? I'd heard about metformin but my doctor has never brought it up. Do you think it helps? Well if you need to verify your lines- I'm here for it! 🙌

OP posts:
Roro1423 · 14/08/2022 13:50

Its very hard!! 've been trying to eat lots of veges and fruits + i cut down on carbs( mainly soft drinks and sugar i cut these completely ) . I try to have a cheat day mostly on a weekend so that i dont completely lose my mind 😬. For me i would say Metformin is helping but the progress is slow. I lost 12lb in 2 months on it but i also added few exercises i like skipping. It wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about metformin unless if they think you dont need it. With different days for taking the tablets i think every doctor has their own protocol they follow and it doesnt really matter as long as you take them properly. I cannot wait for you to enter the TWW, hoping you get your peak soon🙏

Sparkledust1990 · 14/08/2022 20:24

Wow 12lbs that's amazing! Well done 👏. I need to find an exercise I like. I heard that about soft drinks too- I was having loads of them 😬. Thank you, I will ask about metformim. I'll let you know when my peak is 🤞. Have you had any side effects using the tablets? How have the first few days in the tww been? Xx

OP posts:
Roro1423 · 15/08/2022 08:31

The first two weeks were horrible, i had upset stomach and diarrhea (sorry tmi )
now i dont feel anything anymore and i think my body is used to it. Today m only 4dpo and i have few twinges since yesterday on the left side ( i think its the side i ovulated on) but i doubt it has anything to do with being pregnant because is very early, we will see how the week goes i will start testing Friday. I promise you that if you cut down the soft drinks you will feel the difference it makes on your body and also try to start with an easy exercise( nothing too hectic) and progress from there 💪💪

Sparkledust1990 · 16/08/2022 09:38

That's not as nice- but we would do anything to see that positive +. I drive myself crazy in the tww! Keeping my fingers crossed for you🤞. You're a third of the way through 🤗. Off the soft drinks now 🙌 water all the way. How is your partner coping with it all? Xx

Hi, hope you don’t mind me joining! We have a nearly 3yo and ttc no2. I have PCOS and am on metformin, but have regular periods so I know ovulation doesn’t seem to be an issue. My first I fell pregnant first month trying, this time we’ve been trying since the beginning of the year. Currently 4dpo x

MrsMamaD · 16/08/2022 10:55

Hey 👋you could literally be writing my story hun. I am also 33, DS is 4, we were informally ttc for 3 years before having a mmc and then 7 months later conceived DS. I have pcos and a prolactinoma (pituitary tumour that makes your body think its already pregnant so stops the normal fertility functions) I take meds for the tumour and berberine & inositol for the pcos (me and metformin just didn't get on) I get periods every month and very regularly, which is pretty much unheard of for both of these conditions however I have a sneaky suspicion they're anovulatory.
We've been ttc #2 for a year now but haven't tried intervention yet, I am going to bite the bullet soon however I'm scared that it's not going to work.
You definitely aren't alone 😊and I know how you feel about no one around you knowing how you feel, my family have never had fertility issues and then along comes me lol with my lumps and bumps all over 😂
Have you every had a full panel blood test of hormones done? I know you've tested progesterone but what about the others?
I don't know if you have tiktok but there is a great Aussie guy on there that just does videos on pcos and he's been so informative to me! Xx

Roro1423 · 16/08/2022 14:44

@Sparkledust1990 Thank you🤗🤗i know right! we will do anything just to see that +, m even trying the pineapple core this cycle🙃it cant hurt to try. My partner is stronger than i am through this whole TTC, well at least he tries to be. Every time when AF shows i get so depressed and he will be like " dont stress this is an opportunity for us to try again" 🙄how is your husband? .as much as they are supportive, they can never understand what we really go through emotionally, we both thought it was gonna happen quickly for us but then here we are 2 years later still trying. The only thing we can do is to keep trying 🙏

Roro1423 · 16/08/2022 14:56

@Mousey6 welcome!! I am 5dpo and cant stop driving my self crazy with symptom spotting 🤪. I really hope we all get our BFP this cycle 🤞🤞. Keep us updated.

Roro1423 · 16/08/2022 15:17

@MrsMamaD Welcome. I just died by "lumps and bumps" 😂🤣 m really sorry about your mmc and that you have to go through all of this, you are definitely strong 💪. I've heard good things about inositol for pcos 🤞Sending you lots of baby dust ✨

MrsMamaD · 16/08/2022 15:52

Ah thanks @Roro1423! Sometimes when you've got as much going on as we do, you've got to be strong or you'll just fall apart.

And don't stop trying anything, no matter how silly it feels!! You never know which one is going to work so you may as well try them all eh?

Men are never upset about having to TTC haha "oh what, you mean we have to DTD again next month?? Oh no, that's terrible news" 😈
Plus I'm pretty sure there is some secret relief because they're not really all that ready for it. I mean, who is? I wanted my baby more than anything but I was still petrified once we actually conceived lol!

So is everyone relatively newly diagnosed PCOS then?
I've known about mine for about 6 years and whilst it's mild, it's still a bugger on your hormones

Roro1423 · 16/08/2022 16:51

Thank you 🤗. That is so true no one is fully ready for it. Its exciting and scary at the same time. I really envy women that deal with all these emotional roller-coaster of TTC (all these conditions and medications) 😭, taking care of toddlers /other kids and still make sure the house don't fall apart everyday, you don't even have time for yourself anymore is too much🤧. To be honest we are really stronger than men. Wow 6 years is a long time, my diagnosis is very recent. 3 months ago when we decided to go see a specialist because my previous doctor was just dragging her feet even after i told her that we've been struggling for a year and half . She would just say "oh everything is fine keep trying and come back after six months, Only to find out i dont really ovulate 🤦‍♀️

MrsMamaD · 16/08/2022 18:09

Well hey, you know your diagnosis now and you can do something about it! I didn't know about mine until I had a private ultrasound for what I thought was a pregnancy (turned out to be an evap line and my period just didn't turn up for another 6 months) but the ultrasound tech was like "umm there's not baby but your ovaries look like gooseberries, darling I think you've got PCOS". Then a blood test with the doctor confirmed it. The symptoms for my PCOS overlap with my other condition so I'm just kinda used to them now 🙄.

How far into the tww are you? I'm on cd31 and feeling Hella nauseous and having a metallicy taste in my mouth...I might do a test in a bit because this isn't normal for me 🤔

MrsMamaD · 16/08/2022 18:31

Not the best picture but uhhhhh... this just happened 😱
