Happy birthday @Alexis7890 , I hope you did lots of fun things! 🥳

@OrangeBengal All sounds very positive, yay! 🙏

AF has just arrived for me, but there’s no disappointment as we didn’t dtd last month therefore no hopes were raised!

kerrym87 · 21/10/2022 11:58

@MK85 I'm 35 with pcos having had 2 cycles of ivf but last one got messed up as I had covid! So not sure I'm very helpful as according to consultant I'm not that mature.....Im inclined to agree 🤪🤡

Strange question for people, maybe tmi but hey ho...here goes. I very rarely spot around ovulation however, since covid and my last ivf cycle I have spotted around my body's first attempt at ovulation every time but then about a week later it actually manages it. Sore around right ovary so wonderin if ive got small cysts or empty follicles rupturing. This is new to me but the ivf clinic don't seem to be bothered but I'll mention it at nurses appointment in December. Anyone else had this?

Sorry I can't remember much else of what's going on, been off here a bit due to a bit of a wobble with a few triggers around right now, sending hugs to all

TheBirdintheCave · 21/10/2022 12:13

@kerrym87 I've not had IVF (yet) but every month I get either sharp ovulation pain or pain that feels like bruising around my ovary (normally the left one) when I sit down. It can be quite uncomfortable but a good sign to tell me I ovulated.

kerrym87 · 22/10/2022 18:29

@TheBirdintheCave I usually do but since last ivf cycle it's there more on right on and off all cycle so I can't tell! It's the blood streaked cm which is new for me.....

Wow @OrangeBengal i can’t remember you’re story but I feel like you’ve had a long and tough ride. I hope everything works out for you 🤞🏻

OrangeBengal · 23/10/2022 16:57

Thanks @Hoping43! Just shy of 3 years trying and my 4th transfer, unexplained infertility, which they thought was due to an implantation issue. This time they got the progesterone timing and amount right, did an endometrial scratch and added in prednisolone, clexane and aspirin. I did visualisation and acupuncture too. This is my one and only BFP and I’d love to not have to go through it all again!

Hoping43 · 23/10/2022 17:04

@OrangeBengal i can completely imagine that. How many egg retrievals have you had? We have two children, we have secondary infertility and are hoping (well literally not hoping but you know, not much other choice right now) to start our IVF journey next month x

OrangeBengal · 23/10/2022 18:05

One egg retrieval back in Jan, which I didn’t react well to even though it was mild stimulation @Hoping43. 11 eggs collected, 6 for ICSI and 5 for IVF, 1 destroyed in the ICSI process and 3 of the IVF ones were immature, 2 abnormal, 5 euploid. I’m 38 (39 in March) and my DH 40 in December and with no answers forthcoming we were beginning to think about childlessness. IVF is tough, be kind to each other, educate yourself as much as you can and lean into the hippy stuff alongside the science.

Hoping43 · 23/10/2022 18:27

@OrangeBengal thanks. I feel like I’m over it all, I’ve done acupuncture, counselling, hypnotherapy, tried every vitamin under the sun, in fact we have spent well in excess of £1000 on vitamins alone. We are just going to go for IVF now but we won’t be doing any add ons or genetic testing or anything like that. We are going to pay for a 2 cycle package and if it works it works, if not we may consider a third round but otherwise we are going to have to accept life as a four because we can’t carry on like this indefinitely xx

OrangeBengal · 23/10/2022 21:09

I hear you @Hoping43

Hoping43 · 23/10/2022 21:12

@OrangeBengal I really hope everything works out for you. I did wonder if IVF has a lower success rate with unexplained infertility, a question for our consultant later this week I think

Misty84 · 24/10/2022 09:35

@OrangeBengal Wishing you huge congratulations and a healthy pregnancy xxx💐

Alexis7890 · 24/10/2022 10:00

@OrangeBengal congratulations!! So exciting for you

OrangeBengal · 24/10/2022 10:39

Thanks @Misty84 and @Alexis7890, I really hope this is it. Test today was more pink then grey, so things are going in the right direction so far! Last time I tested at 8dp6dt and got a BFN, so that’s my next milestone, then OTD.

TheBirdintheCave · 24/10/2022 17:20

Congrats @OrangeBengal ! :D

OrangeBengal · 25/10/2022 12:44

Thanks @TheBirdintheCave, I’m getting more confident the closer I get to OTD (Saturday).

ShirleyValentineManc · 25/10/2022 15:43

@kerrym87 yep same here.... Never had period pains before IVF, now I do and at one point convinced myself that I had appendicitis!
Many doctors in the clinics say the stims, "reset" your system and therefore things will be different... I'm hoping good different!

TheBirdintheCave · 26/10/2022 01:01

Just found out that covid affects sperm quality (my husband tested positive for the first time yesterday) and that means our last three natural tries are now all pointless. I'm so upset I can't sleep and am just crying in the guest room 😭

Has anyone else's husband had covid and did it negatively impact IVF or your natural chances?

Misty84 · 27/10/2022 09:07

Hi @TheBirdintheCave my partner had Covid back during Easter, it probably affected our chances but we’ll never know really!
Im sorry this has happened, it’s very frustrating and now there’s nothing you can do but dust yourself off and focus on future attempts. The main thing is your husband makes a good recovery!

We’ve had some positive news which is a nice change. My partner’s defragmentation has improved since he had the varicocele removed. Gives me hope for a natural conception miracle. We’re spending a fortune on tests and consultations with Ramsey! All the experts agree that more ivf is pointless (I only produced 2 eggs last time and 4 a year ago, both times nothing to transfer).

I wish we’d known about his problems before I had geriatric eggs!😪

We are moving house next week and this has given us a huge boost, we’re really excited and feel like at least something in our life has moved forward- which is important for mental well-being! TTC is like being stuck in a hamster wheel…

How is everybody else doing?🌸

Alexis7890 · 27/10/2022 10:10

@Misty84 thats good progress for your partner! And exciting that you are moving house, hope the move goes well!!

I have just come back from the hospital following a monitoring scan for the latest lot of letrozole, I have over responded this time with 5 big follicles and only day CD11 so on a sex ban until we see him again Tuesday. I couldn’t make this up I have gone from no response at all for months to one cycle with successful ovulation to now over responding and it being deemed unsafe to carry on this cycle. So frustrated it feels like another cycle wasted! I feel like I should be happy I am finally responding but I’m just frustrated that I can’t just respond properly.

@TheBirdintheCave To our knowledge neither of us have had covid so I can’t comment, but response will be different for everyone. Sorry I don’t think I know where you are in your journey but covid is just a blip and could be totally fine for you both, don’t let this throw you off 😊

OrangeBengal · 27/10/2022 11:40

That’s wonderful news @Misty84 and the move sounds exciting too!

This might be a silly question @Alexis7890, but could you convert to an IVF cycle and collect the eggs, thereby not wasting them?!

I’m mostly good, test lines are continuing to get stronger (today’s at 8dp6dt was the same strength as the control line), but I am also experiencing spotting, pink blood on Tuesday evening, and dark brown this morning (both on wiping). It fades to pretty much nothing quite quickly, but still isn’t the most pleasant thing to see even if I know bleeding during IVF pregnancies is quite common.

anotherscroller · 27/10/2022 12:04

Hi, I have a question for you experts.
Just been “diagnosed” with unexplained secondary infertility.
This cycle is a weird one. Got a peak ovulation reading on cd23 (like last month and the one before). But no fertile cervical fluid. Dtd constantly anyway.
Then I got two days of really egg white cm on cd34 and cd35. Did an ovulation test and it was negative. Dtd anyway just in case.
Now I’m on cd39 (unheard of for me, so long!) and bfn, but no period.
Has anyone else experienced these random patches of ewcm?
thank you 🙏

Alexis7890 · 27/10/2022 12:41

@OrangeBengal not with the nhs no, just have to have this cycle cancelled and try again next cycle with lower dosage and see if that gets a single follicle response. Because we only get 6 cycles I am hoping this doesn’t count as one of those, I think they only count cycles where you ovulate successfully so we have used 1/6 last month and so I hope this isn’t classed as 2/6. If they include failed cycles this cycle would be 4/6, need to clarify that next Tuesday I think!

aww exciting the lines getting stronger, have you spoken to anyone about the bleeding? I would assume the brown is left over from the pink and brown is older blood? Everything crossed for you that it’s all fine!
