@HeathenPlayingHouse that is absolutely beyond frustrating. They don't seem to be helping you at all :(

@WingingIt09 eeeek that's so exciting!

I got a really good line with a frer yesterday and now nearly back to nothing this morning so feeling very disheartened. I'm hoping I'm just testing better in the afternoon with this one 😩 feel like it was too lucky for cycle 1

@LemonZestDribbles oh no, fingers crossed that it's stronger this afternoon/tomorrow. How many dpo are you?

@WingingIt09 11/12dpo and AF due any time from Sunday to Tuesday. If my tests arrive I'll try this afternoon 🤞 with ds I had lovely morning tests so this feels weird

Yes, I've always had stronger tests with FMU, but have read of others having better afternoon/evening tests. I hope it progresses for you.

@LemonZestDribbles congratulations and fingers crossed that your line is stronger in the afternoon.

@Amber17 congratulations!

We’ve booked a holiday and have decided to push back trying until October now. I’ve never been pregnant before, but judging by how my body copes with everything else, that’s probably means being sick! This will probably (hopefully!) be our last pre baby holiday so want to have a really good time.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 13/05/2022 10:47

@LemonZestDribbles Fingers crossed for the afternoon! 🤞

Thank you all again, its lovely to have the support on here. I worked out yesterday I've now bleeding/spotting for just over 7 weeks, my fear is finally getting the hospital appointment after it stops and then not doing anything because I'm not actively bleeding. But I'm sure that's just my anxiety making me feel that way.

I'm trying my hardest to wait until Monday to chase my referral up, but I'll probably cave and ring them today haha.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 13/05/2022 11:09

I caved and called the booking office lol. Not laughing now though.

Apparently, even if they agree to an urgent appointment, that's still a 6 month wait. If they keep it as routine, I'll be waiting over a year.

We're so lucky to have the NHS, but it's falling to pieces.

Jennifer89 · 13/05/2022 11:12

I have been using ovulation sticks this month and seems I ovulate on day 11. Is that normal? According to app on my phone it should be day 15 🤔

Organictangerine · 13/05/2022 11:14

Is that the day of the surge Jennifer? Or ovulation? O tends to happen the day after you get the surge on the tests. I usually get a surge on day 11 and O on day 12

FourOclock · 13/05/2022 11:17

6 months @HeathenPlayingHouse 😩😩😩 on what universe is that 'urgent'

LucyLoopyLu · 13/05/2022 11:28

Hi @Jennifer89
I haven't done testing myself but I read quite a lot around ovulation timings and it's v normal to ovulate later or earlier than day 14.
That's why the NHS recommendation is to keep having sex every 2-3 days across your whole cycle, so you're less likely to miss your fertile window.

Jennifer89 · 13/05/2022 11:30

@Organictangerine day 11 is when my test seems to show a surge as both lines strong.. Will keep taking the tests for next few days though as new to them so not sure if reading correctly.. I have googled and apparently it can vary for women and some do ovulate earlier in cycle..

LucyLoopyLu · 13/05/2022 11:31

@Heathenplayinghouse
6 months for an urgent appointment 😑 that's so awful. I know it's not ideal but can you afford to see someone privately?
I (grudgingly) paid to see a private dermatologist earlier on in the year and I didn't feel I got my money's worth (because I am tight but haha) but she was a consultant specialist, very knowledgeable, and gave me the answers I needed straight away.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 13/05/2022 11:53

@LucyLoopyLu I did consider it for a second, but then I realised there's no way we'd be able to afford it.

Last time I saw a consultant privately was simple- I didn't need any tests because the issue was visibly assessed, then straight back on to the NHS waiting list for surgery. This was 15 years ago, and I paid £120.

This time, I'm going to need an examination, blood tests, possibly another ultrasound or maybe even a hysteroscopy. I requested a quote last year while I was waiting for my fibroid scan, and I think just the consultation alone was £250.

After the bills are paid each month, I wouldn't even have enough left to pay for that, let alone the battery of tests needed to figure this out.

I'm miserable, but I can wait. They'll just have to put up with me constantly calling for updates though.

Tropicana1 · 13/05/2022 12:03

That's so strange @LemonZestDribbles that you had such a good line yesterday and not today. Fingers crossed you'll get a darker line again this afternoon and it's not a chemical

@HeathenPlayingHouse that's crazy that 6 months is deemed urgent!

@BlueberryMacaron I had horrible morning sickness and was so knackered with my first in the first trimester so if that would ruin it for you then definitely an idea to wait a month, but didn't really kick in until about 5 weeks or so

So I'm definitely over obsessing but I had a temperature drop this morning at 6DPO which I've been Googling all morning as a possible implantation dip, so now there's no hope for me not testing ridiculously early. Hoping temp goes back up tomorrow and stays up. AF due next Thursday (12DPO, short luteal phase) so I will probably cave and test on Monday now at 9dpo 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Tropicana1 · 13/05/2022 12:07

@HeathenPlayingHouse when you go private they can do parts privately and then also refer you back to the NHS for other parts so a combination approach rather than all private, I know it doesn't help with the financial cost of the initial consult etc but worth bearing in mind especially if you end up on the 1 year plus wait list

LucyLoopyLu · 13/05/2022 14:06

@Heathenplayinghouse Totally understand where you're coming from, even the consultation is a lot of money and to be honest I don't think many people would be able to afford it, it's not a real solution to the NHS waiting lists.
Are you keeping a diary of your symptoms? Just thinking it is sometimes overwhelming to remember and be able to clearly describe whats been going on at the best of times, and if you do have a while to wait it might be even more tricky by then.

Hope you are getting support from friends and family. It all sounds very upsetting

LucyLoopyLu · 13/05/2022 14:56

Starting to wonder if I should test first thing tomorrow (CD29) just to check whether I am OK to go to the pub / have a glass of wine at the weekend?
What is everyone's opinion? Or should I just not worry about it - wouldn't be out out or anything, maybe 1 or 2 drinks? Or would you just not drink, to be 100% sure, just in case?

If I ovulated when my tracker thinks (not convinced it's accurate) I would be 14DPO tomorrow - would a cheap test even pick that up so early?
Help me oh wise ones. I okay have one cheapo test from years ago so have limited confidence in it.

WingingIt09 · 13/05/2022 15:08

@HeathenPlayingHouse that's a joke! 6 months is not urgent! Definitely keep calling for updates and ask them to keep you in mind for last minute cancellations. If you can/are willing to attend short notice you may get seen quicker.

@Jennifer89 how long are your cycles? I usually get a peak on CD11/12 and I have 24/25 day cycles.

@LucyLoopyLu I think you should get a positive at 14dpo if you are pregnant. I got mine at 10dpo for both my DD.

OP posts:
Theawkwardblonde · 13/05/2022 15:10

@LucyLoopyLu I wouldn't worry about it if I'm honest. The month I caught I was so Adamant I wasn't pregnant (MC 2 months before, only dtd once) I didn't test as I knew period would be later due to the MC. I drank quite a bit one night and found out I was pregnant the next day. I was terrified I'd done damage but midwife reassured me it's far too early to have had any effect as the placenta hasn't taken over. Go out, enjoy yourself. If you find out you're pregnant you'll sharp stop drinking ☺️

Tropicana1 · 13/05/2022 15:35

@LucyLoopyLu I think like @WingingIt09 said you would likely get a positive I would think by 14dpo, and if it's negative but you later get a positive then it was too early to do any damage anyway, but then I'm happily of the opinion of having a glass of wine in the TWW whereas I know some people prefer to abstain after ovulation regardless so I think it's probably personal preference 😊

Jennifer89 · 13/05/2022 21:16

@WingingIt09 My cycle is usually 27/28 days.. would that be early then to have surge at 11 days? I may be reading the strips wrong so will do strips next few days still and see if line seems stronger..

WingingIt09 · 13/05/2022 21:35

@Jennifer89 it just means you'll have a longer luteal phase. My luteal phase is usually 11/12 days. Normal range for luteal phase is 11-17 days so if you get peak day 11, then you'll ovulate day 12/13 and have a 15/16 luteal phase which is within normal range so fine x

OP posts:
Jennifer89 · 13/05/2022 22:05

@WingingIt09 thanks, sounds like pretty normal then 😊

LemonZestDribbles · 14/05/2022 07:08

Thanks everyone. Test was stronger yesterday afternoon so just avoiding them and waiting for af to hopefully not appear.

@BlueberryMacaron oooh are you going somewhere fab? I'd be the same and want to enjoy every second

@HeathenPlayingHouse that waiting time is absolutely awful. I'm so sorry :( it must be absolutely frustrating. I'd keep calling like you say so you're not forgotten

@Tropicana1 oooh that's very exciting on the temp drop!!

@LucyLoopyLu I'd likely test (but cause I'm bat poop with no patience) a few drinks would be fine regardless and baby would be absolutely fine
