Making a new thread from the March group ♥️

I'm on CD 1, Cycle 11 of TTC our first 👶🏼
Had a MC in February
Ectopic last July with right tube removal
I have endometriosis (and I suspect low progesterone)

Trying to stay positive and think fresh cycle, my body probably needed this after the MC and its a fresh start ✨

Hello, I hope you don't mind me joining.

I'm currently TTC my first, this will be our 4th cycle, I'm on CD6.

I've been wondering if anyone has been to get tests done to see if everything is okay, before the year, for peace of mind? I'm 29 and have irregular cycles, anything from 30-43days. Additionally, my Husband is 30 years older than me, he already has children but I wonder if now that he's older his sperm might not be as good quality. So thinking we might be best to get checks done?

Any positive stories of conceiving with an older partner/advice welcome.

Sorry for the long post! x

Hey all

Joining from the March thread. Started spotting this morning so unfortunately AF is on her way 🙁 onto cycle 6 of trying now, fingers crossed we’re lucky this month 🤞🏼

Chanel05 · 22/03/2022 12:32

Hello! Joining.

On cycle 7 🥴 of ttc #2 and started cd1 today. If I get my bfp this month then I'm due on Christmas Day 🎅 😂. My dd was conceived on Christmas Day, so I'm hoping there's a theme 😂.

Hello,

Yes I had a female hormone blood test done with Forth late last year. I can't remember how much it was, maybe around £80? It gave me peace of mind although my LH reading was slightly high but was told this could be normal depending on when the blood sample was collected. X

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 12:52

Hello @Leanne053, thank you for sharing. Glad that your results came back okay.

I have contacted a clinic near me, waiting to hear back. I think I need it for peace of mind. x

I just did this online, they sent a kit through the post. It might be a cheaper starting point? If my results from the finger prick test came back abnormal I would sent have seeped advice from a physical clinic :) x
LuckyWithMyLot · 22/03/2022 14:13

Hey @Chanel05, I recognise you from other threads about TTC after MC. We are cycle buddies this month! Let's hope we both get our BFP Grin

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 14:26

@Leanne053 Thank you for that, I didn't realise you can do tests via the post. Do you know if they offer anything like that for males or if it requires a visit to the clinic?

I'm going to have a little research :)

Decaffe · 22/03/2022 15:10

Well, I am officially out/abstaining this month, as I’ve finally got a date for my HSG procedure. Going to stick around to watch the BFPs come through though, and then I’ll be back on the April bus, hopefully with some cleared tubes! Smile

alwaysseeingstars · 22/03/2022 15:21

@Rhianne18 I've just had the results from a home progesterone test (via Medichecks), I have always had really irregular cycles and never known if I ovulate (I never get EWCM nor any pains I can pinpoint to ovulation) - I've had 2 months of getting 'peaks' on CB but I know that doesn't necessarily mean you ovulate. Just had the results back and they've confirmed I did ovulate, it's incredibly reassuring. Also have a female hormone home test to do once AF shows (although I'd rather she didn't haha!) which shows quite a few different things.
Not sure on the male testing they offer but definitely worth a look, like @Leanne053 said it may be a cheaper (and less stressful) starting point?

alwaysseeingstars · 22/03/2022 15:22

good luck @Decaffe xx

Xtina1986 · 22/03/2022 15:23

Hi there can I please join this thread currently on cd10 no joy at all. Period this month was a week late so thought I had caught it but then period came was different to other times I'm on day 6 of this cycle.

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 15:50

@alwaysseeingstars Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I'm going to look them up. I'm the same as you, I don't get EWCM but I do track my temp so I can see where it increases when I ovulate.

Nope, I hear you, rather AF didn't show either. Have you taken the hormone home test yet?

I'm going to see if their is a cheaper alternative for my Husband too, with him being older we'd really like to get him tested.

alwaysseeingstars · 22/03/2022 15:57

@Rhianne18 I wish I could track BBT, but have such dodgy sleep patterns it wouldn't work!
Not yet, apparently it has to be taken between day 2 and day 5 of AF - difficult to say with irregular cycles but as I know I'm 11DPO I would imagine it would be in the next few days?! Who knows Smile

It certainly can't hurt getting him tested, and if he's willing to get tested that's half the battle!!

Nyxxie · 22/03/2022 16:09

@Rhianne18 my OH managed to get himself a fertility test online, I think it just measured sperm count, so not as in depth as you might get at a clinic but might be worth it for some reassurance?

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 16:20

@alwaysseeingstars Oh 11dpo, hoping AF don't show up for you! Are you trying for your 1st? How many cycles have you tried for?

Yes, well he's willing at the moment, we'll see if it's the same when it comes to it.

I've had a look on Medichecks, they do a male check too, which I'm going to do some research to see if it's just as reliable as a sperm analysis.

Which female tests did you order? There's a few to choose from I'm unsure which is best.

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 16:21

@Nyxxie Thank you for sharing. Where did he get this from? Was it helpful? Did you get reassurance from it?

Nyxxie · 22/03/2022 16:32

@Rhianne18 it was from Amazon I think. It was along the lines of a pregnancy test, ie 2 lines means good/normal sperm count. I didn't even know he was going to do it tbh, it was something he decided to do and just told me after. I though it was quite sweet that he'd thought of it - I hadn't even worried about his fertility, too worried about my own (for no particular reason! 🤣)

alwaysseeingstars · 22/03/2022 16:48

@Nyxxie that's lovely that he took it upon himself to do that!! Good man Smile That sounds like a good non-stressful test too, my DH is terrified of the Dr's so maybe further down the line I can get him to try that!!

@Rhianne18 I'm TTC #1, cycle 2. With the irregular periods and an appendectomy that I was told may have caused some issues with the fallopian tubes, I'm terrified of not being able to conceive! So we'll see, but it's definitely put my mind at rest knowing I ovulated this month at least. I ordered the Progesterone Ovulation test, and the Advanced Female Hormone tests. Let me know how you get on :)

It will certainly be a cheaper starting point. In terms of male fertility tests I know very little I'm afraid so can't help there sorry x

Rhianne18 · 22/03/2022 18:03

@Nyxxie that’s so sweet for him to do that, well done that man! oh I’m the same, I worry about everything, but I think it’s also natural for us to worry about conceiving when it’s something that we’re so desperate to do! I agree, it sounds like a less stressful way which I know my husband would prefer!

@alwaysseeingstars have they given you anymore information about the appendectomy and if it’ll effect you conceiving? Definitely something that’ll play on your mind as I know it would mine! Amazing news that you ovulated and so good that you’ve now got that reassurance! Thank you, I’m going to have another look at them.

@Leanne053 Yes, it will definitely be cheaper, we’re going to have a chat tonight about the different options of tests and then decide which one we think is best for us to go for, I’ll keep you all updated!

Thank you for being so welcoming! 🥰

Hopefulprincess · 22/03/2022 20:49

@RSmamaa I’m so suprised at them it’s 2 different branded cheapies getting positive and negative on both 😭 I think I’m going to be out this month 💔

Cecelia90 · 23/03/2022 08:12

Hey, I’m looking for some advice about the clear blue ovulation tests it’s my first time using them. So this morning I got my first static smiley face CD15 😀 but is is common to not get any flashing ones and go straight to static? Does it mean I ovulate in the next 24/48 hours? And should I not test tomorrow morning or the day after because the test will stay on static smiley? Sorry if I’m being a bit stupid

kizzy97 · 23/03/2022 09:44

Welp af came for me bang on time this month so now jumping over here from the March thread! Cycle 7 ttc #2, getting harder and harder not to get deflated

Hopefulprincess · 23/03/2022 10:06

@Cecelia90 I’d still test so you know the peaks passed. 24/48 hours till ovulate yes :) good luck
