Just had the rest of my booking appointment and I have to start aspirin at 12 weeks. Anyone had this before? Or taken it? X

I found this on the web... what was the reason you were given?

Current obstetric guidelines recommend that the administration of low-dose aspirin to prevent preeclampsia be initiated after 12 weeks' gestation. This starting time was chosen to minimize possible risks of maternal bleeding and fetal anomalies.

HoneyLemon29 · 07/03/2022 14:57

@mrshodgy21 good luck with your scan ☺️ I'm only weeks tomorrow but had a ruptured ectopic last pregnancy so they want me in soon x

@Cruz86 I haven't had the date yet but I'll be 5 weeks next Tuesday and they want my scan as close to 5 weeks as they possibly can x
It's my birthday next week as well and I guarantee they book on that date 😅😅

HoneyLemon29 · 07/03/2022 14:59

@mrshodgy21 4 weeks tomorrow I mean x

Cruz86 · 07/03/2022 15:00

Oh don't, I couldn't deal with that @HoneyLemon29 😂 Fingers crossed they don't book it on the same day!! X

Prayingformyrainbow93 · 07/03/2022 15:04

@Cruz86 so glad everything went ok for you!
I called the EPU said no need for HCG which I’m quite happy about actually because last month when I had to have that the first one came back at like 60 or something and I panicking even though they said that’s pregnant, then ended up having a chemical! She told me to take another pregnancy test at 5 weeks and if it’s positive and no bleeding etc just go through the usual booking process! Xx

Skl2021 · 07/03/2022 15:10

@Nikkic2123 yes it's because I had high blood pressure at the end of my pregnancies. So hopefully this will help that xx

@Cruz86 no thankfully 😂 I'm only 3/4dpo so really don't think that was a symptom at all

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 15:42

@HoneyLemon29 at least they are getting you in early and keeping an eye on u x

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 15:44

@Cruz86 no not a private I've had 3 mmc last year only picked up at 9 weeks
So they scan me early I had one last week and yolk sac was seen and having another one Friday at epu x

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 15:45

@Skl2021 I have to have low dose aspirin but I have to start taking from when I find out that I'm pregnant x

speake · 07/03/2022 15:51

@Skl2021 I’m also on low dose aspirin but mine was from 6 weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️

Skl2021 · 07/03/2022 16:11

@mrshodgy21 @speake so it must do more than blood pressure if you two are taking it earlier? Is 150mg low dose? X

OP posts:
mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 16:32

@Skl2021 I'm on 75mg low dose aspirin that we progesterone pessaries I had it with my last mmc only thing when I had to have surgery to remove I ended up losing nearly 2 litres of blood as aspirin thins the blood I was so poorly! X

peachiekeen · 07/03/2022 16:33

@Skl2021 when I spoke to the midwife on the phone when I had my mc she said that some people are advised to take aspirin from when they find out they are pregnant if they have had multiple mcs as it helps to thin the blood and get more to the placenta. I didn't know that before but I'll probably take some as a precaution next time

peachiekeen · 07/03/2022 16:34

@mrshodgy21 I hadn't thought about that though! That must have been scary!

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 16:41

@peachiekeen yeah 75mg is ok to take they call it baby aspirin
My boys was so low I thought I felt ok went outside to meet my partner and collapsed
I had to have a blood transfusion and stay overnight was not a great feeling x

theblueflowers · 07/03/2022 16:41

Hi all,
I was on one of these threads a few back. Currently 5+4 and I have started spotting today. I think it's happening again and I just feel so lost.

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 16:42

@peachiekeen and to top it off they never removed it all so a week later I was back in a&e contracting clots out said I wouldn't have surgery again so had the tablet that didn't do anything so ended up back for surgery again 🤦🏽‍♀️ x

mrshodgy21 · 07/03/2022 16:43

@theblueflowers sorry to hear that hun try think positive have you rang epu? X

SLee21 · 07/03/2022 16:43

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread?
I found out I had an incomplete miscarriage at 8 weeks on 31st January after some unusual bleeding. I actually lost the baby naturally on 6th February with some very heavy bleeding and ended up in hospital. I bled for another two weeks afterwards.
I have been doing opks since the bleeding stopped which have slowly faded every day, which I assume is my hcg being picked up going down. I had my first completely negative hcg test a week ago.
Saturday night (28 days after I started bleeding) I had some spotting and the last couple of days I’ve just had a small amount of dark brown stuff (sorry if tmi), barely enough to fill a panty liner. I don’t have any other symptoms either!
I guess I was just expecting a lot worse? Maybe it’s not much because I bled so much before? Or maybe it’s not even a period? I’m just so confused about what my body is doing at the moment 🤦🏻‍♀️
If anyone has experienced anything similar I’d love to know!
Thank you 💕
