Just a quick post for a rant/chat really... me and my partner have been trying for nearly 18 months now with absolutely no hint of a bfp. Have started investigations with our GP, I've had my day 3 and day 21 blood tests all looked normal. Currently waiting for the results from parents sa within the next week or so.

It's on my mind every single day, I want nothing more than to have a baby. Some days I'm more positive about it than others but it's always on the back of my mind. I've got no support as I haven't told anybody around us that we're ttc, let alone have been trying for 18 months.

Is anybody else in the same boat?! Has anyone got any positive stories for conceiving after this time?

Just want a chat really, anybody is welcome x

@SunshineS1 if it's of any consolation to you were ttc dc2. We have one dc who took 2 years and 7 months to conceive. Totally naturally with no intervention, no opk's nothing. I hope you get as lucky.

It took us two years to conceive, I had all the blood tests and had my fertility appointment booked and then the week before found out I was pregnant. At my postnatal appointment the gp asked if I'd ever got my results and I said no as we didn't need the appointment - turns out I have poly cystic ovarian disease.

I took an increased dose of folic acid and an aspirin a day (there is some research worth reading in to struggling to conceive and taking aspirin that's worth a read, you can find it via Google).

I know that's not the case for everyone but it always gave me hope to hear a positive story.

Hello Ladies. We are TTC number 2, but I’m afraid that without Opks I feel even more stressed than with. So, will keep using them.
I heard so many stories when women relax/forget and this happens. I think stress has a huge impact To our bodies and a constant thinking about TTC and worrying makes a body more intense and blocks functioning properly. I’ve just started Reflexology as I really need to calm down.

Welcome!! I'm exactly the same, I feel more stressed not knowing when ovulation is coming etc rather than when I use opks and know I have at least given myself the best chance. However, I do also need to find a way to relax in general. You'll have to let us know how the reflexology goes, i was honestly thinking about yoga but not sure what there is around me!

Way worse timewise. I had 7 years of different fertility treatments before I had my daughter. BUT I do have her now, and it was soooo worth the wait.

So don't give up until you're either done with the idea or have no options left.

A friend of mine had problems ttc. Thyroid levels were ok according to nhs and not at a level where they would prescribe. She went private about her thyroid and they said she did need some medication. She's now got two kids so worth looking into that x

I'm now pregnant after 40 odd cycles, three miscarriages and a round of IVF. It can happen.

On egg collection day I got only three eggs while everyone around me had at least ten. I was so disheartened, Of the three only one made it to embryo and now he's my little miracle at 28 weeks pregnant.

Id focus on vitamin D in terms of prenatal vitamins, it was the only thing the clinic ever focused on getting enough off (folic acid is a given) I did everything from only drinking warm filtered water, no plastic bpa chemicals, acupuncture etc.. it made no difference but I think at the time it makes you feel like you do have some kind of control in a situation where you feel helpless and held to ransom by your body. I think steroids and progesterone were the magic combination for me.

I'd say push push push and don't wait around for useless GP's. If you don't self advocate for yourself in this situation nobody else will! Good luck x

Thank you so much for your reply, I'm sorry to hear it took you so long but glad you've got your daughter!

I've definitely not given up hope, some days are better than others though x

Thank you for this! I always have my history with my thyroid in the back of my mind but with it being checked twice within a year I assumed it would be fine. Definitely worth looking into though, thank you!!

Wow congratulations!!! Its so nice to hear of some stories with a good ending!

Thank you, I really needed to hear that! I honestly don't feel like GP's are in a rush to help anybody anymore. I can't speak for all of them of course but mine are shocking!! I wish I could go private but definitely can't at the moment until we save a little more.

I have to wait until 14th Feb regarding my referral and chase if I've not heard anything after that. Waiting for partners sa results and then go from there, fingers crossed we don't need any help and it happens naturally in the meantime x

Fingers crossed for you!! Yeah everything seems to be taking longer now which is expected but my gp is absolutely shocking at the best of times. I had to call and chase my blood test results for them to say "yeah all looks fine"... hopefully yours isn't as bad. Let me know how you get on!!
