TTC Bus 46 - where we're all off on our holidays (let's hope that means more BFPs - rubbish results for July!)

Mad scramble from the opposite side of the country to where I normally live to keep the bus running as @minster2012 still has connectivity issues. I'm on holiday in Suffolk with only limited signal so very likely to have missed people, particularly any newbies - it's not personal, I'm very sorry and in exchange I won't charge you for the ticket!

Here is the bus where anything goes, and chat isn’t just TTC it’s anything. Ranting very much encouraged to her things off your (are they sore boobs?!) chest. The last bus had loads of work promotions too & we’ve still got interviews so hopefully it’s a lucky bus in more ways than just making babies...let's hope this one has more BFPs and more house luck!

We are here to help and support each other & anything goes. We’ve had losses, heartache & some super fertile short ride passengers so welcome all.

Bloody car alarm went off twice, no idea why but the dogs were going nuts around the garage this morning so I'm guessing a cat??? First time I went out in my dressing gown, second time I had my keys in our room so turned it off from upstairs at midnight 🤣😆
no idea what time DH got in but he sent me a reply to DS's hair pics at 12.35am (saying "why have you done that?!" so later than that!

Got crap sleep cos of it cos you know when you are falling asleep then get woken up?! It was like that!

Hello ladies, it's been a looooong time since I've checked in!!

Pregnancy in general is both physically and mentally exhausting, add on a chronic illness and a worldwide pandemic and I don't think I appreciated until yesterday just how much of a toll this was going to take on me. I think I hit my wall last night when I broke down because I can't make any more huge decisions 🤯

A very different two week wait going on here at the moment, 31st august is my c section date so little miss will be here in just 11 sleeps. I have until Tuesday to decide if I want steroids or not, the steroids will reduce the risk of breathing issues as she will arrive at 37 weeks however the steroids can cause my blood glucose to sky rocket which in turn can cause baby to be born with low blood sugar which will mean a stay in special care. I'm dammed if I do and damned if I don't. To have the steroids requires a 48 hour hospital stay with half hourly obs so no sleep for two days plus a 6 hour round trip to the hospital that I've been making weekly for the last two months. In all honesty I'm knackered and my head is mince! Any wisdom is appreciated.

I have a weekend of celebrating other people's babies ahead. A christening on Saturday and then a dinner for a friend to celebrate her pregnancy (in lieu of a shower basically). I'm sure it'll be lovely but of course it makes me feel a bit sad too.

My friend who is pregnant is struggling a lot with her pregnancy and I'm checking in every day etc and trying to help but I really wish I didn't have to and could just take a step back.

In other news, my DH is trying to convince me to spent an extra €1000 on a fancy gas fire. The expensive one sits flush and looks great and can be programmed to come on at certain times or turn on or off if the room is too cold or hot or whatever. The other one sticks out a couple of inches and you just turn it on manually.

We agreed that this is not the house we will be in forever so I feel like spending this much money is crazy - the whole job including a new boiler will be over 6k with with expensive option. Or should I be nice the sitting room and buy the fancy one?

We're doing up most of the house by the way so we still have to pay for lots of other work including floors, doors and a new kitchen.

@Somatronic if you are not planning on staying there, then no i wouldn't. Sometimes you don't know if you'll stay or not so it's hard then but if you definitely aren't staying then I wouldn't. Would you really use it? We have never even turned our fire on in the 3 years we've lived here. 🤣 I possibly would spend the money putting a log burner in. But not on a gas fire (long term they are getting rid of gas too and phasing it out).

Cramps are really bad today so thinking AF is coming- this cycle has been weird though because of the vaccine so might still be waiting a while. Had late ovulation with it but think I did with the last vaccine too so not a surprise. It was at least more convenient 🍆 because of SIL’s 3 day wedding!

Trying to up my exercise and lose some weight/get fitter. I’m bigger now than I like to be and think I would have to lose a bit for fertility treatments if we end up needing them- not sure of my exact weight but don’t want to be in a position of having to lose weight in a really short time. DH is trying to do the same. I do find diets difficult though as I previously had an ED so going to just concentrate on enjoying exercise for now! Used to love the gym and running but just am really out of the pattern of doing it.

Ooh I forgot to say- we have booked a holiday to Canada in a couple of weeks smile. Road trip from Vancouver to Calgary via Whistler, Jasper and Banff. Can’t wait!

Haha thanks for the advice. If I go back and say no to the gas fire completely he'll kill me. We use it a lot to heat the living room rather than turning on the central heating. The one we have works perfectly but it's as ugly as sin.

Also agreeing with the others re your child's hair @Minster2012. I mean, who would even dream of cutting the hair of a child that doesn't belong to them!

@paintfairy I'm thinking of signing up for acupuncture too, but will probably wait til I finish up therapy cos it costs a fortune. Hope it's helpful to you. Keep us posted if possible!

@Billythecat good luck with the fitness/weight loss. I've stopped trying in the last few weeks after losing some of the weight I put on since Christmas but I have maintained it I think. I have events the next 2 weekends so I'm being good during the week and less good at the weekends and I'll start again properly in September. My weekends in terms of the diet are lasting 3 or 4 days so this is probably a terrible plan

@Somatronic she is my friend and will try to fit me in sooner, at the opening of lockdown, she booked me in on her day off, bless her, but she did have to be seen in public with me😂 she is still crazy busy from all those catching up appointments,

Home alone for half hour ish, dh has taken ds to his swimming lesson, I am NOT leaving the house today, he only moan a little
On the diets I am not really dieting, dangerous road for me too re ED, but I am being more mindful of what I am eating, choosing more bananas than biscuits, feel better and everything fits, will see what the scale says..

@Billythecat Canada sounds immense!! My SIL is from Canada and her & brother have gone back there for 3 months then are emigrating there at the end of the year. Btw when does a kitten being a cat??? How was the 3 day wedding? A lot of cycles were messed up Cos of the vaccines I'm afraid. I fell off a dumper and thought I'd killed my ACL ligament again but I think I've pulled my miniscus instead

@Somatronic thank you and what a star you are for helping your friend. Hard going when ttc yourself. As for the fire, even if it's not your forever home would it add value when selling on/be a selling point as whoever buys won't have to update to a "smart" fire 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Franklydear in all honesty I don't think i want them. But I'm not sure if that's me being selfish, I've had such an interventionist pregnancy already, looking back I haven't gone more than 10 days without a medical appointment since March. It's hard going. The idea of two days of being poked and prodded while they refuse to allow me to look after my own diabetes (been told insulin via drip or no steroids) despite the fact that a sliding scale (drip) for insulin is notoriously bad for causing massive lows and highs in glucose. The obstetric consultant himself two weeks ago said they make a "negligible" difference, didn't even try to come to a compromise on a sliding scale just flat out said no sliding scale no steroids and surely if they are that important he would have been trying to encourage me to take them?? His aim is delivering healthy babies. If I don't take them and she has breathing problems I'll never forgive myself. First dd had an extra 12 days cooking time, didn't have steroids and had neither breathing issues or low blood sugar. As I said my head is now minced with it all. I could cry and just don't know what to do for the best.

@Gem176 @Franklydear no baby yet sorry! 3 weeks later than what I thought and still nothing. I can't believe it. I have a sweep on Monday if nothing has developed by then and otherwise will be induced on the weekend. Don't really want eithrt option but if it gets baby here I'll have to. Considering I had fears of baby being huge even at 38 weeks and now I'm 41 I'm trying my best not to think about it 🥴

Oh @lucyrp sorry, nothing worse than people asking about baby when no one is more aware of their lack of appearance than you!! Hopefully you won't even need the sweep on Monday and things get cracking for you over the weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Gem176 tell me about it, and it's close family and friends that ask the most! Surely they know that they'll be the first to be told when baby finally makes an appearance! Makes no sense to me. OHs grandparents have taken to ringing me every single day to ask if I'm still in one piece and his mum was texting me every day last week too 🥱 I think the words "yes I'm still here in one piece" have come out of my mouth over a hundred times the last 2 weeks 😫🥴

@lucyrp my tolerance is at an all time low so I'm not sure I could remain polite with all that 🙈 I'd tell them for every time they ask has baby arrived I'd delay telling them for an hour 😂

Late night check in ☺️ dad has finally got his place confirmed at care home!!!! Had to fork out £200 for a taxi on Monday because non emergency patient transport won't do it because he moving out of area FFS! But it's all sorted now🥳😁 just have to do his packing 🤦 it's super weird being on sofa at my dad's 😂 feel like a big kid... And missing my OH like mad... (I did wake him up via bj this morning which resulted in some epic sex and then lake spermo 🙈🤣 felt like I was trying to keep a dam at bay not a few swimmers 😂. And to top my day off I've badly hurt my foot (my good foot too! Not the one I've been suffering with) might be a sprain or plantar fascitis 🤷

Why is it now I have things all sorted I can't sleep? Think I've had a 10 min cat nap about 12 and nothing since... Can't get comfortable or too hot.. damn dog keeps kicking me ( she has to be on sofa near me) I'm tempted to go and buy 2 pillows later as this one feels like it's insides are all broken up and lumpy.. looking after my dad is the easy part! ... And it's not even coz I'm not at home coz I can sleep when I stay over at MILs for a girlie night. 🤦🤷 Here's to a day of insanity ...............
