Thread #2... TTC our first!

OP posts:

@taytay2020 yay!! So pleased that the loan has been sorted - that's such great news. Bet that's a weight of your shoulders and now you can relax before you start in Jan.

Unfortunately my cycle didn't start in time so we will be transferring in January. My clinic have agreed to give me something to delay my cycle for December too, to ensure it starts once baseline scans commence again after Xmas (not earlier) - so I don't lose yet another month. Pretty gutted that we're having to wait even longer...... but it's out of our control xx

taytay2020 · 04/12/2023 21:37

@lebe14 oh no I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you can find some positives in waiting. Take a break, drink all the gin, ride all the twisty rollercoasters, and have a fresh start in the new year?!

Lebe14 · 05/12/2023 20:03

@taytay2020 100% - got to find the positives. Will enjoy Christmas and look forward to starting in the new year and hopefully we'll both have some success!! Xx

taytay2020 · 12/12/2023 14:13

@lebe14 yes have a great christmas!

Lebe14 · 11/01/2024 13:56

Hey @taytay2020 hope you had a lovely Xmas and new year!

Are you all set to start this month? Hoping that your loan went through okay in the end and all funding was finally approved?

We're finally starting prep for the FET - feels surreal as we've been waiting for so long! Have my first scan tomorrow x

taytay2020 · 15/01/2024 09:08

@Lebe14 happy new year! Yes we had a proper break over christmas so I'm feeling fresh and ready for 2024 now. I hope your xmas was good! My last cycle started late too so I'm waiting for my day 1 at approximately the end of this week. Then I'm expecting to be arranging a clinic appointment for next week, downreg pills from day 19, with the stabbing starting mid-Feb. Can't say I'm looking forward to that exactly, but hey ho. You must be excited to be starting at last! What's the process for your FET?

Lebe14 · 15/01/2024 12:13

@taytay2020 so exciting to get started next week hopefully. The jabbing will be fine - you'll find it much easier than you think.

My protocol is medicated for the FET. So from Friday I've been taking oestrogen tablets. I have another scan on Friday to check the lining. If it looks good then I think I'll be told when to start progesterone and have the FET day booked (eek). If lining isn't thick enough I'll be booked in for another scan I imagine the following week. I hate the waiting - it's the worst part of IVF for me 😂

Really hope your cycle starts at the end of this week so you can get started next week! Xx

Sorry I posted in the wrong thread 😅

No worries @strawberrylaces12 ☺️ x

taytay2020 · 19/01/2024 14:29

@Lebe14 It's so exciting that things are happening for you now! Did your scan go well today? I don't really know how FET works but I'm guessing transfer could be next week?

AF actually turned up on Wednesday afternoon which was a pleasant(?) surprise. I hadn't been tracking last month so I just assumed my cycle would be a couple of days longer, which is more my average length. That made yesterday my CD1, and I've just had the call from the clinic to arrange all our scans!

We'd already had a guess at when things would happen, based on what happened last time, and it turns out AF being 2 days early doesn't change things - I just take an extra 2 days of norethisterone so that we still start stims on a Monday. It's interesting to see how it all works...

Lebe14 · 19/01/2024 15:25

@taytay2020 ahh so exciting!! It's the only time when we are excited about AF arriving haha. Yay for starting stims on Monday too! Bet it feels soooo good to get things started. The stims period will fly by and you'll be at your EC in no time.

The scan today went well. My lining looks good quality but isn't quite thick enough so I've been given extra oestrogen in a patch form to take alongside the 4 pills (and will need to continue taking this throughout...). Then I've got another scan booked on Tuesday. All being well, I should be able to start the progesterone following that and hopefully transfer will be the week after. Going to be heavily medicated once I start the progesterone now they've added in yet something else 😂😂 xx

taytay2020 · 19/01/2024 18:34

@Lebe14 lol that's so much medication! I hope you're feeling ok. My favourite part of the tww was feeling my body go back to normal after all those drugs...!

Lebe14 · 02/02/2024 13:53

@taytay2020 how are you getting on with the stims? Must be around 2 weeks now? Have you got your EC booked in?

I had my transfer on Monday. Time is going by sooo slowly. But the good news is that both thawed okay and were hatching when they were put back in - embryologist was happy with that. I was told the transfer would be a little bit more uncomfortable than a smear.... I found it more than 'a bit' uncomfortable at one point haha!! But it was bearable.

X

taytay2020 · 02/02/2024 16:21

@lebe14 I don't start stims until the 19th cos my clinic has me on down regs for the first month of the process. It's soooo slow! I got really pissed off with them yesterday actually, they didn't sort our medication until I pestered them for the 3rd time, so it all got done at the last minute and I had to pay extra for premium delivery to get it to arrive on time. This is literally their job, I don't understand why they didn't just get on and do it! If I hadn't pestered them yesterday what would have happened?! No ivf this month, I'm guessing. But after about 6 panicked phone calls yesterday afternoon trying to deal with their many muckups, I managed to get a delivery booked in for tomorrow. I start taking norethisterone on Monday.

That's so exciting you had your transfer! When's your OTD? Late next week? I found the transfer pretty uncomfortable too, I definitely needed DH to hold my hand while I winced! And I needed a wee soooo much - I think I might drink just slightly less water beforehand next time cos the pressure of the ultrasound was not good! 😂

Keeping everything crossed for you! Take care of yourself this week. Have you got plenty to keep you distracted?! x

Lebe14 · 02/02/2024 16:47

@taytay2020 so sorry to hear about the clinic - that's so disappointing!! Like you said, it's literally their job to ensure you have everything you need - not give you added pressure of wondering if you'll have to wait another month. Glad you got it sorted - bet that was a relief. But just so unnecessary.

Yeah I was so conscious of the bladder situation. I actually had to stop at a coffee shop before going in to 'half wee' - well, I tried unsuccessfully. And then drank lots more when I was waiting. Glad I did do that as I was still bursting afterwards haha. OTD is NEXT Saturday - ages away. Hopefully work will keep me busy next week.

How long are you taking notethisterone for? Just around a week to then bring your period on and then to start stims?

X

taytay2020 · 12/02/2024 12:46

@lebe14 Any news??! 🤞🤞 Really hoping it all worked out for you x

I'm taking norethisterone for a couple more days then stims start next Monday. I'm honestly dreading it but at least I know what to expect this time.

Lebe14 · 18/02/2024 18:31

@taytay2020 so sorry for the delay - I’ve taken time away from mumsnet. Unfortunately the transfer didn’t work 😥I got my first even second line at 6dpt but it didn’t darken. Then lightened at 9dpt and BFN by 10dpt. I didn’t expect too much from this cycle but still had a bit of hope from seeing a second line for the first time ever. I have a follow up on Wednesday with my consultant to see what she’s going to change for my next cycle, which I’m ready to start once my next cycle begins.

how are you feeling about starting stims on Monday? Fingers crossed that means your collection should be in a few weeks?? Xx

taytay2020 · 19/02/2024 21:40

@Lebe14 oh I'm so sorry 😢 That really sucks, especially after seeing a faint line and getting your hopes up again. Are you keen to get into your next cycle asap or are you taking a break for a bit? Really hope you're doing ok! xx

I had my baseline scan this afternoon, and first jab this evening. I tried using ice on my skin beforehand to numb the area, it maybe helped a bit? Will continue to try it anyway! I'm on the same dose as last cycle, it's just the fertilisation process that they're altering this time to try and get better results, so it'll be interesting to see whether they can collect a similar number of eggs this time. I'm assuming EC will be Friday 1st March.

Lebe14 · 20/02/2024 13:10

@taytay2020 thank you xx I’m moving onto a new cycle straight away once my next cycle starts - hopefully 2nd week of March. Have a consultation tomorrow to discuss next steps and hopefully change up the protocol. Going to ask about testing the embryos as pretty sure the reason they didn’t work is that they were abnormal / low quality.

that’s great your EC is likely to be around 1st March - that’ll come around so quickly. And fingers crossed the change in fertilisation works well for you!! Xx

taytay2020 · 20/02/2024 22:21

@Lebe14 It does feel good to be on the IVF train again, it definitely seems to go quickly once we've started! That's good that you can crack on again next month, hopefully they can suggest improvements for your next cycle too.

taytay2020 · 23/02/2024 11:41

@Lebe14 I just had my day 5 scan. Good lining (10mm) and many follicles! 24 in total, but only 10 of these were a decent size, the rest are still quite small. They obviously don't want all of these to grow so I had a blood test to decide whether I should take a lower dose of stims - now waiting for a phone call to confirm.

Lebe14 · 23/02/2024 12:27

That’s great news @taytay2020!! Sounds like things are progressing really well. What dose and medication are you on at the moment?

I’ve had my meds prescription arrive so purchased it this morning to arrive next week.

x

taytay2020 · 23/02/2024 15:11

I'm on 150 of meriofert a day. But just had confirmation that today and Sunday I should take only 75. I'm hoping that's the right call (it's different to what happened in my first cycle).
I asked about what's involved in a FET today, so that I can start planning my work for this summer around it, just in case. Apparently my clinic does mostly natural FETs, and that transfers can happen on a weekend if needed. Hopefully we'll have enough embryos for this to be a possibility?!
Really glad things are happening again for you so soon. Are you feeling back to normal after all your FET meds? Sounds like you'll be starting stims while I'm (possibly) in the tww.

Lebe14 · 25/02/2024 20:06

@taytay2020 interesting! Wonder whether they’re going for quality over quantity and want the 10 good sized ones to mature nicely instead of grow more? 10 would be an amazing number to get! Are you still aiming for the collection being on Friday?

I’m going to be on a mix of menopur and gonal-f this time. Really hope my body responds well to it. And yes if you have your EC on 1st I should just have started my cycle (hopefully) near to your OTD!!

xx
