Hello! First month TTC. Currently 1DPO, no symptoms as of yet, but already feeling stressed at the thought of not knowing if we were successful for two more weeks! Worried we didn't BD enough, we did every other day during the fertile window including day before O. Anyone got any advice or just want to join in the conversation to get us through the wait?

@IzzT I know exactly what you mean! 😂 I had some cramping pains on one side last night, was Googling if it could be a sign but I concluded it’s way too early!!

Think I will definitely hold out to test for as long as I can. Husband thinks I’m mad - he’s so relaxed and just say as “it will happen when it happens” - I know he’s right but still!! I then keep panicking and thinking what if I actually do get pregnant this cycle am I rest and prepared!! It’s a rollercoaster haha!

IzzT · 21/04/2021 12:43

@JuniperAndTonic Such a rollercoaster! I had the same, right sided cramping and immediately jumped to conclusions. I also googled and decided it was too early for anything. I figured any symptoms before implantation don't count so at least 5-7 more days until we can say we might be having symptoms 🙈 I'm at work today and that's been helping take my mind off things thankfully.

Question for the group - how do people manage the 2ww in terms of things you shouldn't do if pregnant e.g. no drinking etc. Do people assume they are and follow "pregnancy rules" or assume they aren't and do what they would normally do?

Hi all
i'm in my first ever tww too. trying for baby no.1 at the grand old age of 39. i thought i would be very relaxed but totally the opposite. finding it a bit stressful with opk's and timings and i must have googled almost everything at least twice. 5DPO and just waiting...... :)

IzzT · 21/04/2021 13:03

@Missmcmonkeymcbean welcome! It's so reassuring to know that we're all feeling the same way and that maybe it's normal to be like this! I really thought I was going to be so chill but I'm really not! I hope for my husbands sake we get lucky quickly 😛

When do you plan to test?

OP posts:
ohhisammi · 21/04/2021 13:06

@IzzT
No symptoms yet.
Last month I was constantly thinking I had symptoms but think I've chilled a little this month - thank god.
♥️

Missmcmonkeymcbean · 21/04/2021 14:16

@IzzT - i'm hoping it's normal to be like this! i'm going to try and not test until AF is definitely late. we'll see how i survive the tww though!

Daisyrobin123 · 21/04/2021 14:25

I havent been following any 'pregnancy rules' as such but I'm not a big drinker anyway. I just think how many people have a surprise pregnancy and haven't known so therefore haven't done xyz and it still happens 🤷‍♀️ I think if I was a few cycles down the line it might be different though and I'd potentially be tempted to make a few changes! I wouldn't go crazy but I would carry on fairly normally if I was you! 🥰

Daisyrobin123 · 21/04/2021 14:29

@JuniperAndTonic My partner is the same 🙈 he's so excited and can't wait to have a baby but hes sooo laid back about it all. If only the OH's had to do all the OPKs etc!

taytay2020 · 21/04/2021 15:03

Hi everyone, mind if I join? I'm currently 2dpo, I think.

I'm 33 and on my 3rd cycle ttc #1, but this is the 1st cycle where I feel like we got the timings right and actually stand a chance. I can just tell I'm going to be symptom-spotting like crazy this month!!

I'm taking folic acid and vitamin D, and DH is taking a daily multivitamin. I'm also force-feeding him walnuts cos I read somewhere that they're good for fertility Grin

It's probably overkill, but we've both stopped drinking alcohol for the foreseeable future, and I'm only having one caffeinated tea a day (then swapping to decaf tea or coffee after that), but I know there's caffeine in chocolate and I'm still snacking away on that! I've also introduced waaaaay more green veggies into our (mostly veggie) diet, to keep iron levels up. It better be worth it cos I hate broccoli!

I hope this is a lucky thread for everyone! Star

IzzT · 21/04/2021 16:29

@taytay2020 welcome! I'm also 2DPO and feel like the tww is already dragging so much! Fingers crossed for a lucky cycle for everyone!

I haven’t been drinking much alcohol since January and I started cutting down my caffeine intake a few weeks ago - only have 1 cup of “real” coffee in the morning and decaff the rest of the day. I also have a can of Coke Zero most days but this is still within the daily recommended amount of caffeine so I think it’s okay! Most of the other guidelines aren’t too difficult to stick to for me although I have bought steak for the weekend and definitely not planning to cook it well done!!

dogmom0930 · 21/04/2021 16:55

Thanks @K8Tee and @Daisyrobin123! I'm 99% sure it was a CP, sadly :( Heavier AF than normal and a day after that started, I had hands down the worst headache of my life, (so bad my face even hurt) assuming from the drop in hormones. Thankful to know that I can get pregnant though! I don't think most men realize how much women worry about that. So sort of a relief?

I'm feeling surprisingly at peace so far this month in the 2ww...not sure when I'll test. But, I'm so thankful to have you all for support!

Here's to some peace and baby dust for us all. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your BFPs in the coming days :)

Daisyrobin123 · 21/04/2021 16:59

@dogmom0930 I know what you mean, I was saying before how the 2ww normally stresses me out but this time (at the moment anyway) I just feel really fine about it. Maybe it's because my expectations are low after the last couple of months of BFNs! What dog do you have?! 🐶

dogmom0930 · 21/04/2021 17:27

@Daisyrobin123 I agree, it definitely helps to have a few cycles under the belt! I thought I was going to be so chill and just see what happens. Well... OPKs by cycle 2 maybe isn't as chill as I thought haha! Grin

I have a 10 month old mini goldendoodle, one of the many quarantine pups of the world ;) His name is Gryff (short for Gryffindor). He's definitely very puppy still but has been really well behaved around my 10 month old nephew. So that's reassuring!

Daisyrobin123 · 21/04/2021 19:47

@dogmom0930 Love the name! 😍that's good that he's well behaved around children at least you shouldn't have any worries. I've got two crazy cocker spaniels but they are so affectionate and loving thankfully!
Where are you in your cycle now? Sorry if you've already said I've lost track!

justwant2beamum · 21/04/2021 20:53

I'm in the "drink till it's pink" live your life camp. I am now mindful of caffeine intake and I'm not a huge drinker anyway (never on week nights and not even every weekend) but e.g if friends ask us to have a bbq and cocktails I feel at this point I'm miserable enough and enough focused on TTC and bloody ovulation tests a few cocktails and relaxing won't do any harm and in fact probably the opposite. All the pregnancy guidance and food stuff is basically "don't get food poisoning" most stuff is all fine to eat cooked which most of the time it is. Personally I would eat sushi until I had a positive test. If I was going to a sushi restaurant and cocktails on say 12dpo I'd probably take a test in the morning to see. But I personally think we bear enough load and burden as it is!!
Maybe it's my own fault for this attitude if I don't get pregnant and maybe I should be following all the pregnancy guidance in tww. But then I see people around me pushing their healthy babies in their prams who were on contraception/one night stands/mothers heavy drinkers & smokers, severely overweight etc and it all seems so unfair!

IzzT · 21/04/2021 21:08

@justwant2beamum one day it'll be us pushing around the prams 🤞

@Daisyrobin123 - I believe I'm 2-3 DPO. I was away for the weekend without OPKs and was just going by my body. When I got home and tested Sunday, it was positive (Maybe O'd on Sunday/Monday then?). So we snuck one last time in to be sure. How are you feeling at 6 DPO?

I hear you @justwant2beamum - I have a friend that has been TTC for a few years. I can't imagine not drinking at all during the 2ww cycle after cycle for that long. For now, I've decided to not drink during the 2ww. But, I definitely have thought the same things about women with unplanned pregnancies or the ones that don't know they're PG for months. There's a lot about TTC that I've decided is unfair, and I'm not even that far into the process!

dogmom0930 · 21/04/2021 21:13

And @Daisyrobin123 - I know cocker spaniels can be crazy sometimes (as are most!), but I've always loved them because of Lady and the Tramp

Daisyrobin123 · 21/04/2021 21:17

@dogmom0930 Sounds like you covered yourselves, hope you had a nice time away!
I'm feeling fairly chilled thanks for asking. Bit of a tugging feeling in my tummy but it's probably just IBS! I've had a cold and cough for almost 3 weeks now so I'm not feeling that this month will be my month. On my first cycle I got really sore boobs and nausea for about 6 days straight which aren't usual PMS symptoms for me.. obviously BFN so now I'm not trusting any symptoms as a good sign!!

It's been really nice to chat in this group. I've been reading threads for the last few weeks but felt too nervous to comment. It's so nice to speak to people in the same situation 🥰

JuniperAndTonic · 21/04/2021 22:57

Awww I feel the same @Daisyrobin123 I just lurk on threads and read stuff normally haha!

I’m working a night shift and trying not to have any more caffeine but not sure I’m going to make it without a cup of coffee 😂

Hi IzzT,

I'm also on month one of TTC and 1 day post ovulation (today) according to my app. We also have BD every other day.

Jumping on as we can hopefully keep each other company on our baby journeys Smile

dogmom0930 · 22/04/2021 02:41

@Daisyrobin123 - Fingers crossed for those symptoms to start! And I totally agree how nice it is to have a community for this type of thing. I've found that it's something I want to talk about, but I feel like a nut telling people not going through it about my CM or sore boobs in anticipation of maybe a BFP haha!

@JuniperAndTonic I'm in a similar boat but with alcohol. Hard day of work feels so perfect to have a glass of wine or a stiff cocktail. But I suppose it's worth the wait :)

Welcome @charja100! Here's to a quick (and successful) first 2WW for you!

IzzT · 22/04/2021 06:41

@charja100 welcome! Hoping you have a successful tww!

@dogmom0930 I know this feeling well, most of my friends don't have babies and I'm finding it hard to tell people I know that we're TTC as I worry that people will ask me how it's going all the time and I don't want to have to let them down if we're not successful and I certainly don't want to talk to them about my CM. Definitely much nicer and easier to talk about it on here 😅

3DPO today, had loads of dreams about being pregnant, but this isn't new for me, I'm a vivid dreamer at the best of times 😬
