@Kitekat81 I take it there’s not many in Glasgow? The choice would be easier if I could swap and be in Scotland right now because I’m just so bamboozled by it all Confused. So. Many. Clinics. On the plus side there’s the Kings and Guy’s options too which aren’t bad, can be a little more affordable. I suppose I need to investigate the refund options and see if I’m eligible for any of those like @Misty84 mentioned.

@Misty most of our money is already in the house so our savings are likely going to get wiped out by this pfffft. Man, it’s depressing lol. If I can ease the financial pressure with refund packages I definitely will, but I might be too old.

Did you just email access via their website and ask for eligibility criteria? I might do that today.

The idea of the bloody follicles being empty is so annoying. I cancelled my Create webinar attendance last night because I was raging about the nhs letter, but now I need to start lining up some webinars I guess. Do more research etc. How was the Lister webinar? Are you alone on these things? Or was it busy? I don’t want to have my camera on for things like this but maybe I have to lol

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 09:38

@thislittlebird That’s unbelievable that they caused you a day of upset for nothing!!

Yes I emailed Access via their online form on the website. I asked about eligibility and pricing. Hopefully will hear back today.

The Lister webinar was good; I think they do it once or twice a month, you can see on their website. You don’t need your camera on!! Nobody did and everyone was on mute, there were about 30 other people in attendance. The consultant did a slideshow presentation all about IVF (lasted 45mins) and at the end he did a 45 min Q&A which was really useful- you submit your questions via the chat feature so no one has to speak or anything like that, it’s very private/anonymous! He provided a recommended supplement list. He also said we could email him with our specific cases and he would give an opinion (I did this the next day and he replied within half an hour- AMAZING considering the wait times I’m used to!!😂) It was also the first bit of positive feedback I’ve got.
The webinars are good because they’re free 😁

Kitekat81 · 14/04/2021 09:50

@thislittlebird there's only one private clinic in the whole of Scotland! 🤣 which is the one in Glasgow. The nhs hospitals usually do 'self-funded' treatments but they stopped because of Covid. My local nhs hospital (Edinburgh) is restarting self-funded treatments in May, but they said their waiting list will be 12 months 😳 so that's a non-starter. So my only option is the private clinic in Glasgow (4/5 months waiting list) or I need to look at clinics in England.

@Misty84 that's amazing that you could email the consultant! Bearing in mind it's like £200 for a half hour consultation clearly their time is expensive so that's an amazing service. Maybe I should email him?! What was on the recommended supplement list?

thislittlebird · 14/04/2021 10:11

It’s annoying but at least the “new” appointment came @Misty84

I’m going to email access today, I think.

That’s all very useful info about Lister and I think I’m going to sign up to one of their webinars based on what you said there, that doctor sounds useful. I feel so confused about our double issues and what we are supposed to do now.

It feels like no one wants to talk to us about it, and I know we have this May appointment but it’s gynaecology. What if they don’t even want to talk about my husband’s results? What do we do then, wait for urology for 3 months? It’s stressful.

@Kitekat81 one in the whole of Scotland, blimey! 😂 I love the nhs a lot but stopping self-funded options is really not what people need right now. I assume Manchester has a few more than one? 4/5 months is a long wait though, it all makes me very anxious Confused

Kitekat81 · 14/04/2021 10:25

@thislittlebird yeh I think Manchester has quite a few, I've only really looked at Create because of the specialism in low AMH, if I start looking at the others I'll end up like you and overwhelmed by too many choices! If I had normal AMH I might be tempted to wait for Glasgow, August/September start wouldn't be the end of the world and commuting to Manchester is going to be a pain. But if Create think they can help me and they can start next month then it may end up being a no-brainer decision for me.

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 10:55

@Kitekat81 I’ve attached the supplement list- bear in mind this is a GENERAL list provided to everyone at the webinar and not based on individual cases or requirements.

I kinda wish there was only one clinic down here too because it’s so overwhelming trying to choose between them!
It will be amazing if you can start your treatment next month in Manchester! Gosh it’s going to be so exciting and scary when we actually start!

@thislittlebird I would try and talk about your husbands results whether they want to or not! Because any little snippet of information or opinion is useful, and when it takes so long to talk to somebody you’ve got to take advantage of those moments!

Kitekat81 · 14/04/2021 11:32

@Misty84 interesting, thanks! I'm already taking quite a few of those but will look at the others. Has anyone you've spoken to so far mentioned dhea? It's in it starts with the egg and supposed to be good for low ovarian reserve, but it's recommended with lots of warnings about only taking it under the supervision of a doctor, and there seems to be mixed reviews. The Glasgow clinic told me to take it for at least 3 months before ivf, but I have a feeling that Create will tell me not to take it, so that will be my next dilemma... I've got some but haven't started taking it yet.

Marvellouslymadmum · 14/04/2021 11:41

@thislittlebird me either 😑 I'm hoping to get some help of the gp on Friday. Oh that makes me laugh! They're certainly not worried about sending multiple letters impacting environment are they 😂

@Misty84 this is the one I'm getting, it's £15.99 for 30 x 100mg but you can get larger amounts and they're buy two get one free at the moment. That list is interesting, especially that he should be taking the extra stuff on top of the well man!

www.woodshealth.com/kaneka-ubiquinol-100mg.html

@Kitekat81 when I heard about dhea before I looked into it and everywhere said it wasn't available in the uk so I just kind of left it! Did you order it from abroad or manage to get it over here?

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 12:34

@Kitekat81 Yeah the doctor said that all these supplements we take aren’t going to do us any harm, and they might each only increase our chances by half a percent or a percent- but that could be our baby.

Yes I know about DHEA but I’ve been a bit reluctant because that affects hormones doesn’t it? My regular cycles and ovulation are something I’ve got going for me and I’m a bit wary about taking anything that could impact that. I know you should be tested first so I asked the NHS consultant yesterday and she said that as my FSH and AFC are in normal range then I shouldn’t take it- maybe it’s more of a last resort I’m not sure? Will probably see what the private clinic tell me to do 🤔

@Marvellouslymadmum Thanks, I get mine from there too.
Yeah I showed my OH the list but he does his own thing really, his SA was all ok so I think he feels he doesn’t need to do anything extra!🙄

Marvellouslymadmum · 14/04/2021 12:50

@Misty84 mine just takes whatever I give him! I could be slowly poisoning him and he wouldn't have a clue 😂 I'm not - just so you all know 🙊 just lots of vits! I get that if his dad is all good though

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 12:53

Haha that’s so funny @Marvellouslymadmum! 😂

Marvellouslymadmum · 14/04/2021 13:17

@Misty84 oops typo - I meant sa not dad! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Kitekat81 · 14/04/2021 14:08

@Misty84 yep those are my reservations about dhea as well! The Glasgow consultant said that it wouldn't do any harm to take it, and there is some evidence that it might help. So I really don't know what to do about it. @Marvellouslymadmum I thought it would be difficult to get hold of as well, actually was pretty easy, it did come from the US but only took about 2-3 weeks to arrive, I ordered 3 months supply as I had a feeling the Glasgow clinic would recommend it so I wanted to be ready. I ordered it from Biovea.

Lol my oh is taking wellman and I don't think I'll manage to get him to take anything else. I tried to get him to take ubiquinol as well about 6 months ago and he freaked out about too many supplements, I didn't push it as I didn't want him to stop taking the wellman, and secretly I was a bit relieved as was thinking well that will save me £20 a month! Luckily his SA was fine though so I'm not really worrying about his side of things.

Castielle · 14/04/2021 14:30

Hello everyone,

I am new in the forum and would like to join this thread.

I am 36, my husband is 35. I have a daughter who's almost 14 and he has a daughter who is 13. Now, we are trying to have a kid together.

There will be a huge age gap but I think it will be okay. The kids don't know about our plans, no one really does.

It's now our 8th month of trying. I am on CD3.

We already have an appointment in a clinic to find out what could be the issue.

Misty84 · 14/04/2021 15:05

Hi @Castielle. There might not be an issue if you’ve only been trying 8 months? Although I’m sure it feels like longer, that is a perfectly normal amount of time! Still no harm in having some investigative tests though just in case :)

Yumcoffee · 14/04/2021 15:43

Hi @castielle 🖐 Age gaps are good because of free babysitters! Good luck with your appointment!

@Marvellouslymadmum 😂😂 you have cracked me up you femme fatale!

@misty84 thanks so much for sharing the list. I've been desperate to try melatonin now i know where to get some! x

Marvellouslymadmum · 14/04/2021 18:58

@Kitekat81 ahh that's not too bad then! I'm thinking I may leave my oh ubiquinol for now, I've had him on 100g but it's so expensive!

@Castielle hi, we are in a similar position though slightly older - I'm 42 and have a 15 & 16 yo and he is 40 and has a 13 & 14yo and we want one together, not fussed about the age gaps as we have them in our family and it isn't an issue. No one knows about us either and we have been ttc 3 years with 2 mc and 2 cp currently awaiting referal

@Yumcoffee lol well I won't get a baby if I poison him will I? 😂

MgW1 · 15/04/2021 08:14

Morning ladies
Who on here is NOT an early tester? Is it a killer?? Im trying my best from now on to now test early and become obsessed but its will be hard for sure ... 😬😬 poas stick addict over here 🤪 xx

Misty84 · 15/04/2021 08:17

Good morning all!

I’m on 2dpo. We gave it such a good go this month; dtd 5 days in a row as soon as I got high readings on the opks. Can’t help but pray that this is the month, before the IVF path begins. AF is due on partner’s birthday...I keep imagining how amazing it would be to give him the best bday present of all, a BFP!

Does anyone else have daydreams about telling their partner and families the good news if/when it finally happens?!

@Yumcoffee My pleasure, glad it was useful!

Misty84 · 15/04/2021 08:20

@MgW1 I’m not an early tester! Only did it once and I was so downhearted after the negative result that I never did it again! I just wait ominously for the dreaded AF to show. in the lead up I do become obsessed every time I go to the toilet at looking at the paper for any spotting though 😂

Magnum99 · 15/04/2021 08:28

@MgW1 the first month I tested obsessively, I was testing nearly every day from about 6dpo, sometimes 2 in the same day.
But I felt like it just made things worse, I was then upset about bfn's when it would have been impossible to get a BFP so early.
Plus when you get a bfn you then tell yourself well it's because it's too early, it's because it was a cheap test etc, it drove me crazy.
So after that first month I vowed to not test until AF is late, I find AF arriving less upsetting than a BFN.
Having said that I'm now 11dpo and woke up with the urge to POAS, I would have been tempted to do one this morning but only got expensive tests, didn't want to waste an expensive test, designed to detect early pregnancy, until my period is late 🤨 etc

MgW1 · 15/04/2021 08:37

@Misty84
@Magnum99
Im only 4dpo 😬 already feels like its dragging!we
are going away for the weekend that my AF is due ( only camping!) so going to try hard to put it to the back of my mind as dont want to obsess when finally......😴.....got a weekend away 🙏X

Henslovetoscratch · 15/04/2021 08:44

I tested early last month but not buying anymore tests until I need them as it was too soul destroying! Its bad enough the whole looking for symptoms and toilet paper every second of the day!!! 😊

KatRee · 15/04/2021 08:49

Because I usually have quite short cycles and was very ignorant about the whole thing until recently, last cycle was the first time I'd ever done a test. And drove myself completely crazy - popping out on the hunt for different tests every time I got a negative just in case. And getting totally carried by daydreams -how I would tell people, what it would be like to have a Xmas baby, what we'd name them... Now I know a bit more about early testing I still think I might do an FRER on like 11dpo next time - I just couldn't focus with the not knowing and seems most people get a very faint line by then if it's positive? Having said that, I'd probably still want to do another 2 hours later if it was negative!

Henslovetoscratch · 15/04/2021 08:49

Just realised it sounds like I loose toilet roll, as well as being a scratchy person called Helen! Not a great image 😂
