@MeganChar1 good luck with your hysteroscopy tomorrow - I hope that sorts it all out for you once and for all and like you said, it will offer you some reassurance that they’ve had a good look at everything xx

Badlydrawngirly · 25/03/2021 08:40

@glowingtwig I’m really sorry to read your update. Sending you lots of love.

@MeganChar1 sorry you’re having to have a hysteroscopy but like you say the positive thing is they will check for any other issues. In terms of other tests, have you been tested for thrombophilia? I had this test as part of the recurrent miscarriage tests and we found out I have the prothrombin gene mutation so now I start heparin from BFP.

MeganChar1 · 25/03/2021 08:57

@Badlydrawngirly no I haven’t I have heard of it though. Because I’ve not had the required 3 miscarriages they won’t offer the tests on the nhs and I even had a private consultation but they still wouldn’t do them, however privately I could probably get tested after 2. Could I get this test through something like medichecks do you think? I also want to rule out other autoimmune disorders as I already have one with my thyroid condition it puts me at risk of other disorders, but I don’t know where to start with this as gp won’t test due to not having symptoms of other conditions x

Badlydrawngirly · 25/03/2021 09:13

@MeganChar1 I really feel for you as that how I felt after having my first loss. I know that only a small percentage of people go on to have multiple losses but unfortunately I was one of them and if I’m honest I do feel like i wasted some of my more fertile years without answers.

I have auto immune issues (mild lupus) and an under active thyroid. Do you see a specialist for the autoimmune conditions as they may be able to advise?

If you can afford to I would pursue the tests privately as it could save you a lot of heartache. I don’t want to panic you about having more losses, I’m just speaking from my own experience.

Why were they reluctant to offer the tests privately?

Where are you based? I know Mr Shehata’s clinic in Surrey does the necessary testing and I’m not aware that they will only offer it after multiple losses. There’s also Amanda Tozer in London who seems very good and there’s another clinic that I believe is in Manchester but offers telephone appointments. I can dig out their details.

I’m sure between us we can find you somewhere.

My nhs gynae has a private clinic where I’m going to have the NK cells biopsy done so I think more people are doing it. They may try and say there’s no need until you’ve had multiple losses but with your other conditions they should understand why you want it done.

Some nhs trusts have changed their requirements to 2 losses for older women so I think they’re slowly realising that the 3 loss rule shouldn’t apply to everyone.

Sorry that’s a bit of a ramble but I hope it helps! If I could go back 5 years I would have all the tests available!

Hi everyone I just wanted to share my excitement at having got a solid smiley on a clearblue ovulation test. I started with a low fertility result on Saturday (CD 6) and then I’ve had 4 flashing smileys. I’ve always suspected I ovulate fairly early in my cycle as have cycles of 21-25 days.

This is my first cycle post miscarriage and I had to test to work out when I could have my NK cell biopsy but as that window falls over the Easter weekend I think we will ttc so as not to waste a cycle!

I didn’t think I’d be this excited but I knew you ladies would understand!

I know I’m probably setting myself up for disappointment if I expect to conceive this cycle but there’s something reassuring about that solid smiley face!

AMS19 · 25/03/2021 09:48

@glowingtwig oh love!!! Im so so sorry. Sending you so much love xx

@Badlydrawngirly just because aside from the underactive thyroid I don’t have any other underlying conditions that are known. My thyroid condition is called Hashimotos which is an autoimmune disease and puts me at risk of other disorders, but there’s so many other conditions it could link to I wouldn’t know where to start with pursuing tests through medichecks etc for other conditions. I just want all the tests I can to stop this happening again and improving my chances. I’m based up north so cities like Leeds or Manchester are easier for me in terms of getting to a clinic. I’m going to read “it starts with the egg” as well.

If I did a private test through medichecks and it showed issues with progesterone for example how would I go about getting a prescription from gp? Also I’ve heard about vitex as a natural supplement for progesterone, has anyone tried this?

KJLM · 25/03/2021 10:53

@MeganChar1 @Badlydrawngirly I’ve mentioned this in the threads before but have you listened to ‘the worst girl gang ever’ podcasts? Laura has autoimmune disorder (I actually think it might be hashimotos) and she talks in an episode about herself and her journey and the tests she had. I can’t remember which episode I’ll try have a listen back but I remember thinking how interesting it was and how helpful it would be to someone . Might be worth a listen to see if there’s anything she said that might help you.

@glowingtwig I am sending you so much love.xxx

Mellous · 25/03/2021 11:29

@glowingtwig so sorry lovely, sending you so much love!

Does anyone know how to adjust the SMEP for a longer than 28d cycle? Mine is 32 days, so not sure when to start dtd!

Seasalt1984 · 25/03/2021 11:34

@mellous do you know roughly when you get peak on OPK? SMEP I think works roughly on principle that it'll be day 12-14 so if you start DTD every other day from CD8 there's been a good few days for sperm to get in position. I'd base it more on when you're likely to ov than cycle length in total. Before mmc my cycles were about 24/25 days but if get peak opk around cd13 so I would still start smep at CD8. Does that make sense? I got a bit worn out by it so giving it a rest for a couple of cycles! 😄

Seasalt1984 · 25/03/2021 11:36

*but "I'd" get peak opk around cd13

Mellous · 25/03/2021 11:52

@Seasalt1984 ahh okay, last month I ovulated on cd18 which I think is fairly average for me! I’m cd9 today

Cienega · 25/03/2021 12:15

Hi @glowingtwig, I'm so sorry to read your update. Sending so much love and strength xx

@MeganChar1 good luck with the procedure, I hope all goes OK xxx

Hi all,
Can I ask, when you were all waiting for bleeding to stop after your MC or ERPC, did the fresh blood eventually turn to old brown blood and eventually stop, or did you get fresh blood mixed with brown blood even after two weeks?
It was looking like mine was really starting to stop or fade out but then got some more brown blood and then today the brown is mixed with fresh blood so no idea if this is normal or if this is a period? I am 4dpo so not due period for another week or so but its my first period since ERPC so I'm not expecting it to be in any way predictable!

Cienega · 25/03/2021 12:19

I should also add that its still only a small amount, only using a small thin panty liner and don't need to change it often

Seasalt1984 · 25/03/2021 12:24

@mellous I reckon if you start at cd10/12 that'd be fine!

Greenluce · 25/03/2021 12:37

@glowingtwig I am very sorry to read your update, sending you lots of love.

@KJLM I've started listening to that podcast this week, I will let you know if I come across the episode you are referring to and report back.

@BadlydrawngirlyOh yes, I would also find a solid smiley face very reassuring. I am excited for you!

glowingtwig · 25/03/2021 13:45

Thank you so much for your supportive messages ladies. ❤️ It's a difficult day on my own at home with my toddler, especially as the EPU want me to try to collect everything from the pregnancy 😞 but she's asleep now so I'm taking a breather.

I have a scan tomorrow at the EPU which might gives us some more clues as it is with a consultant. I'm also waiting to hear back from the secretary of the private clinic about next steps there. I'm really kicking myself that I didn't wait to TTC again before all the tests were complete, but there we are... too late now.

I'm also upset because the lady I spoke to really questioned why I hadn't been given progesterone as they have had really good results with this in ladies like me with recurrent early losses. I was specifically told not to bother by my GP and the private clinic, but now I'm thinking I should have pushed for it as the consultant I saw in January actually prescribed it. Maybe it might have made a difference to this pregnancy. Again... too late now.

I'm just trying to process it still and come to terms with the fact that over the summer there will no longer be a lovely blossoming baby bump 💔

Madeoftea · 25/03/2021 13:58

@Mellous I usually have 33ish day cycles and ovulate around day 20/21 and the month I got my BFP we started smep from day 14. I wouldn't have the energy for more than that haha!

Quinn26 · 25/03/2021 14:39

@Cienega yeah that sounds what happened with me. I really only had 2-3 days of red blood then it turned to brown and was occasionally mixed with fresh. I had it for about 2 weeks (I had an MVA) I was also confused as I thought it was stopping then I would go a day with nothing then the next I would have light spotting.

I think its just our body's way of getting back to normal. Its been through a big hormone change so I put it down to that x

Mellous · 25/03/2021 14:45

@Seasalt1984 @Madeoftea thanks ladies, I think we will start from cd12! First time trying the 'plan' so fingers crossed

AMS19 · 25/03/2021 14:58

@glowingtwig it's always so easy to think what if but chances are it was chromosomal and nothing you could have done would have helped. I really hope this process is as bearable as it can be. Its so tough to be going through this again so soon, I'm so sorry. Just take one day at a time. You're happy ending is out there I promise xx

Hi @Quinn26
Thank you for the reassurance, I was a bit crampy so I just couldn't tell if it was my period or not but it must not be. I've had more really dark brown blood so still just my body clearing out I think. It's been nearly 3 wks now and still bleeding, albeit light, so I might contact the epau on Monday and ask if I need a scan etc.

justwant2beamum · 25/03/2021 18:21

@Cienega I was told 1-2 weeks of bleeding after ERPC and I'd still bleeding after 2 weeks to contact them. Have you done any pregnancy tests to see if negative?

justwant2beamum · 25/03/2021 18:21

*if still bleeding

Cienega · 25/03/2021 18:55

Hi @justwant2beamum, thank you for the info, yes I took a pregnancy test on Monday and it was still positive. I ran out of them so need to get another one this eve and check again. If still positive (which I feel it will be) ill call the epau tomo. I'll have to tell them about me dtd'ing during peak ovulation last wknd as I'm afraid that if by some miracle I did fall pregnant from that, it may be disrupted by my post mc symptoms and bleeding etc and the docs possible doing internal scans 😳 *I'm definitely being ridiculous
