How long did you take to concieve number 2?

It took us 2 years to concieve DD (naturally) I fell PG a few weeks before I was due to go in for tests. She is now 14m and although I want another lo I also want a little bit more time with just us first.

I am worried that if I leave TTC we will end up with a very big gap between them.

Has anyone struggled with number one and gone on to concieve quickly with number 2? If I got PG today she would be nearly 2 which is too close for us but I also don't really want a 4 year gap

I just want some thoughts on this really.....

Thanks everyone! And congratulations to all of you expecting

I think I will relax for a bit, I am still BFing DD twice a day and want her to self wean so I think once she does we will start again. She is showing signs of it already. DD has been hard work in many ways and is very demanding so I would like a bit of a break!

I am off to chill out and have a small glass of wine

DD1 took 2years was due to see consultant the week after i found out.

Because it took so long to fall for her we start ttc when she was 10 months, she will be 3yrs 10 month this month and dd2 is 8weeks today.

I have to say that i have a very iregular cycle (can go months without af) so i knew i would take a while but didn't think it would be quite as long.

DS took us several years to conceive (in fact we'd given up and accepted we'd be childless).

DS is now nearly 2, I fell pg literally the only time we weren't careful in (but had an MC), tried again immediately and fell pg 1st time again!

Which goes to show that just because 1 baby takes ages to conceive doesn't mean the others will. Oh - and I'm 38!

Lizziemum, did you have any tests or did the GP assume everything was OK now? I have had the attitude from my GP that obviously I am now "fixed" and don't need to worry!

Gumbo - sorry about your MC, how far along are you now? I hope your DC2 is doing well It is reassuring to know it can happen out of the Blue. I have RL friends who have had the same thing happen but I need lots of reassurance atm!

Several friends are PG with DC2 or have even had another very quickly so I am having broody/self doubt feelings. Not like me in any other aspect of my life. Motherhood is a strange thing - you have no control of your feelings!

Thanks for your answers.

2 years to conceive DS, had already had the usual blood and sperm tests and had a consultants appointment booked when I found out I was pregnant.

Currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second, and no one was more amazed than me when I got pregnant 2nd month of trying!

Sorry just manage to get back on.

The first time i had blood test which showed a hormone inbalance, and were waiting to see the consultant when i found i was pregnant with dd1 i hadn't had AF for 6 months and was shocked to find out i was pg (only tested because my mum insisted) and was about 10 weeks.

With the second one although we would have liked a second child, because we already had dd it didn't seem as inportant. As in if it happen good and if it didn't then so be it IYKWIM.

Also because i was over 35 i'm not sure what if any treatment would have been offered as react quite badly to extra hormones.

I would go back to your GP and insist on some tests just to put your mind at rest.
