It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@Juno231 your chart is looking good 👌 really hope this is your BFP coming!!

Kay00 · 09/01/2021 09:48

@acnass welcome! Its very possible you are just missing your peak... I have missed mine in 3 out of 5 cycles so far and im fast running out of OPKs ... so will probably miss it this cycle too 😆 im pretty sure im ovulating though because I get a temp shift in the second part of my cycle.

Cd 26 here... still no ovulation 😑

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 10:32

@Kay00 I fell you! CD19 here and I had a bit of a temp rise this morning so not the drop before the LH surge I was hoping for 😒

ChinChilly · 09/01/2021 10:52

@ACNass @justwanttobemum It is possible your missing you’re peak or you’re not ovulating yet, I don’t think I ovulated the first few cycles off the pill. Also I use the premom app to read OPKS and sometimes I don’t think it reads them very well it all depends on the lighting. If the line is as darker or darker than the control line the your there!

@Juno231 that chart is looking good! 🤞🏼

@Kay00 @Cams50 hopeing you both ovulate soon!

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 10:53

So I hope we won’t need it but I’ve just been doing some googling about IVF and my NHS trust doesn’t offer any IVF on the NHS 😖 It just seems so unfair that it differs across trusts. The trust 5 minutes down the road offers two cycles worth! Anyway I’m being negative. Hopefully it won’t come to that 🤞🏻

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 10:56

@ChinChilly thank you! Some days I feel absolutely fine about it all but others I get super worried I’ll never conceive and overthink everything. I need to calm myself as stress doesn’t help lol. It’s all so difficult. Anyway just went down a googling rabbit hole so I need to snap out of it 😂

ChinChilly · 09/01/2021 11:00

@Cams50 I’m the same some days I think it will happen when it’s meant to happen then other times I can’t stop thinking about why it’s not happening and there must be something wrong with me. WOW that seems super unfair about the IVF 😞

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 11:05

@ChinChilly I know I’m tempted to move house to that trust 😂 oh well I’m sure it’ll work out for all of us when it’s meant to x

ChinChilly · 09/01/2021 11:10

@Cams50 I just had a look for where I live just out of interest it’s only one cycle here and the surrounding areas! Yeah it’s hard to get into and maintain that mindframe. I saw a post on another thread and one woman said she would be really concerned if she hadn’t conceived by 6 months of trying, that set me off worrying because I’ve been off the pill over 6 months now 😞

justwanttobemum · 09/01/2021 11:13

@ACNass your line is definitely as dark as the control and positive, ive never had one that dark 😞 since coming off the pill I have had very regular cycles 28/29 days so I've not been bothered with long or irregular cycles so I kind of assumed that was a positive sign that I was back to normal. Stupid me. @Juno231 and everyone else thanks for advice, I have thought about temping but it wasn't really a route I wanted to go down as I don't want to obsess and do it every day and it looks really confusing but maybe I will have to. Think next month I might try clear blue opks or buy that fertility monitor thing - anyone tried these?

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 11:45

@ChinChilly I know a lot of couples are statistically likely to conceive within six months but the way I say it is that as we’ve all come off the pill it’s more than likely going to take our bodies longer to sort themselves out so we can’t fit within that time frame. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway 💁🏼‍♀️😂 one cycle isn’t great but it is something I guess! I better start saving just in case lol.

@justwanttobemum I felt the exact same way as you. I wanted to not overthink or stress so avoided temping for like 5 months but I think it’s helped me stress less as it takes out the guessing and wondering have I ovulated or not. You quickly get used to doing it. I haven’t tried the clear blue opks or monitor though no sorry. I think some of the other ladies have!

Kay00 · 09/01/2021 12:48

@justwanttobemum I actually find the temping the least stressful part of tracking. My body is used to waking up, popping the thermometer in my mouth then heading back off to sleep. Opks are much more stressful 😆

ChinChilly · 09/01/2021 12:54

@Cams50 yeah you’re right, I need to remind myself of that sometimes rather than jumping straight to there must be something wrong with me 🙄 Yeah we need to start saving for either that or mat leave 😂

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 15:27

@ChinChilly yeah exactly! And yes hopefully spend it on mat leave 😃

FlyingGiraffe · 09/01/2021 16:02

I had no idea it differed so much for IVF @Cams50 @ChinChilly I feel lucky to find out it's two attempts under 40 where I am now. I've been saving a bit already - would be nice to not have to worry as much if/when it comes to either outcome!

When did you start taking the Agnus Castus @cams50? I bought some but decided to wait a bit longer before taking it, and then I had a 12 day lp and early ovulation out of nowhere (unless it was the vit c!)

@Juno231 your chart looks really good! Fingers crossed! @Kay00 least you've covered dtd if you do ovulate soon!

Managed almost 10k steps today so feeling happy to have had some fresh air! Hope everyone's having a nice Saturday!

Robyn101 · 09/01/2021 16:07

@thedaydreambelievers Hopefully a scan can give you some clarity, I’m sorry it’s taking so long for you to regain some normality

@flowers222 chart looks really good a strong sustained rise

@justwanttobemum @acnass it can take a while for our bodies to kick back into gear after the pill. I came off in August and so far haven’t had an AF and only had a peak in December for the first time so definitely give it a little longer I’d say. I never thought I’d see a peak OPK I was generally just getting no line or really faint ones. It’s super obvious when they’re ‘peak’ I find. I would recommend temping as well to see if there’s an identifiable pattern there, it’s very simple do in a morning log it and forget you just get into the habit

@juno231 charts looking so good!

I’m 10DPO temps still quite above cover line but RHR has absolutely plummeted. I’m on my 3rd day of spotting too when I wipe but not needing anything during the day so don’t think it’s AF just yet but I think she might be on her way

Bonus side - lost 5lbs this week so far just need to try and not eat crazy over the weekend ready for Monday weigh in 🤞🏻

@Cams50 Yeah, I want tonl try live as normal as possible lifestyle whilst on Mat leave.

@FlyingGiraffe that’s good you get 2 rounds of IVF where you are, good to know if needed, hopefully not!

@Robyn101 I had 3 days of spotting before AF this cycle was really annoying!

AF has finally pissed off! Woohoo 🎉

Cams50 · 09/01/2021 17:02

@FlyingGiraffe oh that’s great about the two attempts! I’m sure you won’t need them though.

This is my second month trying Agnus castus although I started taking it a few days late into last cycle so feel like this is my first proper cycle. I think it can take 3 months to kick in so I’ll try see it out til then and see what I think. My ovulation has been delayed this month but I’ve no idea if they’re related. I’m taking vit c too so hoping that might help with the lp. 12 day lp and earlier ovulation is great!

@ChinChilly that’s great your AF is gone! It’s a fresh month for you start trying now ☺️

abi555 · 09/01/2021 17:53

@Robyn101 your temp chart is still looking good - fingers crossed!

@Juno231 your chart also looking excellent!!

@justwanttobemum I also thought I'd find temping really stressful and wanted to relax about the whole process... but I actually found temping helps me chill out about everything as I can clearly see when I'm in follicular phase vs luteal. I'd worked out I ovulated while waiting for my first AF off pill through temping which really helped reassure me that things were looking normalish with my body. Appreciate it's not for everyone though...

@ChinChilly glad I'm not the only one to have looked up the IVF NHS allowance for my area!! I'm only cycle 2 and clearly need to chiiiiillll out! hahah Grin

I'm finding OPK's very difficult however. Does anyone else use the onetouch and know if they are reliable? I very rarely get anything other than stark white on them. How long before predicted ovulation do you usually start using them? I'm CD10 today so probably just using them too early, but finding it difficult to work out when to time DTD as no idea what my cycle is going to do this month as it's first after AF off pill

Flowers222 · 09/01/2021 18:06

@Kay00 that's really interesting about Soy Isoflavones! I would love to ovulate earlier than cd22 as it feels like a long wait. But I would be a little nervous it would completely mess it up. Sounds like it might be worth a try for you though if you are not ovulating regularly.

Elsie2021 · 09/01/2021 18:12

I’ve noticed my cm today has a ting of pink which is making me a bit nervous.

I haven’t ovulated yet (and I’m quite sure of that)so it’s not ovulation or implantation bleeding. I wonder if I’ve made myself sore DTD too much but you know what it’s like when you start googling! Never turns out well.

Kay00 · 09/01/2021 20:12

@elsie2021 I sometimes burst a blood vessel or have some amount of cervical erosion after DTD, I did a little today in fact, hopefully nothing to worry about.

@flowers222 I read someone warning ladies away from Soy if they have regular cycle lengths or cycles under 34 days as it can mess with ovulation... I have to admit I'm a bit apprehensive as they sound very powerful... but im on CD26 and still no sign of Ovulation 😞

In Devon it looks like i would only be offered 1 x IVF attempt on the NHS. Interestingly the guidelines here say they will only forward you to the fertility clinic after a year of trying, or less than a year if you are 36 or over... so as a 35 year only I will need to be trying for year (by which point I'll have just turned 36).

mrsmacmc · 10/01/2021 01:06

AF has left the building (woohoo!). Huston we are ready for BD till I knock my hips out 😂. Uni assignment submitted too so that should ease up the tension for a bit.

Baby dust to all ✨ and hugs as well ❤️❤️

Rmd123 · 10/01/2021 10:35

Hi everyone! I need some help.. I finished the pill on the 17th Dec withdrawal bleed 21st. Did clearly blue OPKS the 1st 2nd and morning of the 3rd al showing high fertility. It then went back to low and AF arrived on the 6th.

ClearBlue connected app told me to start OPKS again today, just did one and it says 'Peak'?! How can that be? Could it be a mistake or will I BD all day today and tomorrow? 😂 thanks xx

Rmd123 · 10/01/2021 10:39

I attached a pic for reference! I missed the test on the first 3 days as I was using CB advanced ones and ran out.
